We went through the drive thru this afternoon to give this place a try. The service was fine, and the food was okay… I ordered the street tacos. They were small, and I felt like they were stingy with the meat. They provided sauces and extra tortillas. Ultimately, it wasn’t bad, just not a place I’d be excited to go back to. Much better tacos elsewhere. Oh, and they don’t have horchata… What kind of crap is that?! Lol

After many years of not coming to El Paso I had to come back to this place before I leave back to Cali. It did not disapoint. Everything was yummy and the tortillas where nice and soft. Great place for a quick bite to eat.

I think I may have gotten food poisoning here. Had an iffy looking chicken taco and was violently ill about six hours later. I was really looking forward to eating here while traveling but it’s not like I remember in San Antonio. Never again :(

The food was decent enough. I got a steak bowl and the meat didn’t really taste that great. Plus, there were only 4 little pieces. I’m not much of a meat eater but i still thought I was jipped. I doubt that I’ll be going there again any time soon.

«Yes please» is normally the response my coworker gets when she asks if I want her to bring me Taco Cabana. While I’ve never physically been in your restaurant, I will say that the food is great. Then again, I’ve only ordered one thing. But, when you find something you like, ya order it every time. My go to dish is the chicken taco salad with NO Sour Cream, extra guacamole. I don’t know what it is about this chicken, but it’s fantastic. The salad is blah but the chicken is out of this world.

Went there for the first time with my girlfriend, looked like a manager that took our order, he didn’t really care to help explain how anything works and was pretty short with us. We order the quesadillas and the street tacos. We wait for about 20 minutes and other people are getting their food served to them — people that ordered after us. So we wait a little longer before deciding to ask where our food was. The quesadilla turned up magically after that and the tacos had been sitting on the counter for about ten minutes I’d guess — beans were cold so we had to give them back and get a new scoop. Overall the street tacos were OK pretty bland. The quesadillas were pitiful — barely any cheese in it, like they were only allowed to sprinkle some grated cheese in between some skinny tortillas. We didn’t receive an apology about the food. Honestly we are not the type of people to really never go back to a place over a single experience but it doesn’t seem like this restaurant could provide us anything we couldn’t get much better somewhere else.

Again, love Taco Cabana. My mom calls this place«Taco Tacobama»…lol. This is definitely my go-to fast food joint here in EP compared to others like Chicos Tacos, El Taco Tote, etc. It’s just those chicken flautas and their salsa ranch sauce. Together, just heaven! The flautas are have a thinner tortilla compared to Chicos Tacos that give it that perfect light outside crispy shell that you bite through. In the inside, the grated/shredded chicken is hot and moist. Together with the salsa ranch sauce they have. WOW. This is what I always get and no other can beat it for me!

So we were looking for a place to eat late night and what better spot than Mexican food in El Paso. So we pull up to the drive thru and begin our order. The lady begins to speak and we can’t tell if she’s speaking Spanish or English. It was difficult to get our order through but we accomplished our goal. Her accent was heavy, which was bitter sweet because I knew we were about to get some authentic Mexican food. I order the steak Mexican street tacos combo. When we finally pull up to the drive right window a short lady greets us. They went light on the extra sour cream so I asked for more she said«it usually costs extra but I’ll give to you free» she then smiled and had about 3teeth hanging for dear life in her mouth. We thanked her and drove off. I finally took a bite into the tacos and I must say… I wasn’t impressed. They were OK. I have high expectations being that I’m from Los Angeles. I have to say adiós, disappointe mijos.

After driving around for 30 min looking for something open at 130am I came upon this place, this is my 1st time here, so I went through the drive in and immediately had an impression yhat this food is going to be great because I couldnt understand what the hell the lady was saying that was taking my order because her Spanish was so thick. I attempted to place my order w her and about 15min later after trying to decipher what she said and using google translate and rosetta stone I was successful I pulled up and grabbed my order. It was a older mexican lady who took my order n handed me my food I asked for an extra sour cream and she said normally we charge for this but I will give it to u for free as her hand touched mine, our eyes locked and she smiled with a missing tooth I pulled away and rolled up my window hoping I didn’t just loose my appetite from that casual encounter that just happened, I pulled over and started with my chicken bowl with bean n rice, I smothered it with guacamole and sour cream and hot sauce, it was great I also polished off 2 hard tacos as well and found my stomach full, but my heart empty longing for the tooth missing lady who took my order…

I love this SPOT! It’s hard to categorize Taco Cabana because it is fast-food(technically) due to the drive through window BUT they serve Margaritas and have live music on Friday/Saturday nights so call it what you want. I had the tacos and they were delicious, too small but you can order more.

Taco Cabana needs to be in California for the simpel reason that it has the yummy basics of mexican food that is reasonable on the budget, doesnt have«restaurant prices like Chilis», but yet has margaritas and beer. As a kid visiting my relatives in El Paso its was a quick drive from their house on Running Deer to TACOCABANA… oh ya– as an adult it is is a required stop to refresh and relax, it has a great menu and the Guac is really good considering the fact that I think restaurant guac can really mess with your internal plumbing. Obviously we dont head to Juarez anymore things have changed, but stopping at Taco Cabana is never a bad meal. and ya the tables can get dirty but I just clean it off.

Place is very casual and good. Was looking for place prior to my last meeting of day while in town and stopped by for quick lunch. Had two brisket tacos in soft tortilla shell and chips and guacamole. All good. Hard to go wrong for quickie bite.

I really like taco cabana. What I can’t stand, is a poorly maintained restaurant. Every time I have been to this location, I am baffled by it’s ability to never have a single clean table. I have to wipe a table myself, if I’d like to dine in. Restrooms are also not kept up. When pouring a soda for myself, I couldn’t help but notice the grime build-up on the dispensers. Good luck not dipping your arms in salsa or cilantro at the condiment bar, since it’s never wiped. With out fail, I am always served old guacamole here. I can only hope things improve here.

For those of you who don’t speak fluid Spanish like I do, Taco Cabana literally translates as «Hockey Puck.» I’m not sure why they named a taco restaurant that, but in the immortal words of Bobby Brown, it’s their perogative. I stopped here for the first time tonight halfway through my 20 hour marathon drive from Los Angeles to Austin. Try to imagine a Taco Bell that’s twice as big, has slighty more homemade food, a salsa bar, patio seating, is open 24 hours, and serves beer and Margaritas. Pretty good stuff, and being in El Paso, their trash cans say Gracias, which translates as «Glass and Plastics Only.» I’m very glad to see they’re environmentally conscious.

On the road to Austin, I stopped off on Lee Trevino Dr., to revisit an old college friend. Not Lee Trevino, I’m talking about Taco Cabana. Seriously I’m not sure if I would’ve gotten through college without TC, as my friends called it. Where else can you get a cold beer, sizzling fajitas, and a giant bowl of queso at 1am? This is mexican fast food done up Texas style. Now that I’m all grown up and don’t eat meat, I probably can’t survive on a diet of Taco Cabana anymore. But absence does make the heart grow fonder. There will always be a special place in my heart for you Taco Cabana.
