I love Ronnie’s ribs and pulled chicken. The sauce is amazing too. I treat all my visiting friends and family to Ronnie’s ribs and all recommend it highly! If it’s a holiday weekend, go early — the person in front of me got the last rack of ribs at 3pm on Memorial Day weekend!!!

I was definitely in the mood for some good BBQ so I sent my husband out to get some. He went through Unilocal and found Ronnie’s Ribs. Well he brought home a huge container full of nice hot ribs. He also brought some pulled pork, rice and hash, beans, and coleslaw. It was really good! I spent about an hour pigging out on the food. I really enjoyed the ribs and the pulled pork were my favorite. They sent home extra sauce, but I really didn’t need it. The rice and hash was also good, but not my favorite. Beans and slaw were average but that’s not what I was craving anyway. I think this place is worth the trip to get some good meaty ribs.

Great food! Fast friendly service. Haven’t had ‘real’ South Carolina BBQ since the 1980’s. Was in the area visiting family and found Ronnie’s, finally the light tangy sweet SCBBQ I’ve been missing all these years. Ordered the Works, the hash over rice, comfort food at it’s best, ordered the dark meat for chicken, so much flavor, then the ribs, smoked goodness without being drowned in sauce, delicious. Then the pulled pork in the bottom of the to go container, full of tangy sweet pork and two slices of white bread to make a sandwich. $ 15 for an ample portion, difficult to finish in a single starting, more like 2 meals in one. If you are passing through on Fri/Sat(only days they are open) Hop off the Interstate, you won’t regret it.

This is the place for awesome BBQ food. The ribs, bbq, and the hash and rice were amazing. The beans were good. My only complaint is that the Cole slaw is from a carton, it wasn’t bad just not my favorite. This is a to go place, no where to sit. The lady at the cash register was was very friendly.

Excellent ribs, delicious pulled pork, and delicious hash over rice. Everything I’ve tried from here has been fantastic. The only complaint I have is that they’re only open Fridays and Saturdays. Otherwise, if you’re looking for some delicious SC barbecue, look no further.

We found Ronnie’s Ribs in an internet search on our long way home. We went out of our way to get there, wanting BBQ, and were well rewarded with authentic SCBBQ, hot, falling off the bones, and wonderfully flavorful. Great food! Thanks bunches!

The ribs were amazing! Tried many other places across the country during our military moved including Kansas City, and I am from Memphis area… these ribs are the real deal! Just the smokey smell of the ribs around the shack will cause your salivary glands to dehydrate you.

Ronnie’s ribs will make you wanna slap somebody’s momma but don’t slap mine she might get ya back. This Rib shack is a no frills outdoor seating only or eat on your pick up trucks tailgate. I opted for the rib sand which this visit and it hit the spot after a long day fishing. The sauce is tangy and goes great with succulent ribs that were fall off the bone good. The pulled pork sand which is nicely done cooked just right not to dry. I took a picture of the updated menu different from the website prices but same items. So hopefully it will help my fellow Unilocalers plan there visits and watch their waistlines a week before hand because you undoubtedly eat way to much BBQ ! The place is right downtown Elgin with only one stop light you can’t miss it if you tried open Fridays and Saturdays only to my knowledge.

Ronnie’s is the quintessential Southern BBQ shack. Orders are placed at an outside window and they’ll call you when your foods up. There is no indoor seating, but they do provide a shaded picnic table outside for you to savor their scrumptious Q. The pulled pork is tender and moist with a light smoky flavor. The sauce is a take on the Carolina mustard base, perfectly balanced with just a bit more tang than sweet that leaves a slight warmth on the back of the throat. The dry-rubbed ribs were just a tad drier than I prefer but this could be due to just a slight variation in cooking. Still, they were meaty and tender and when slathered with Ronnie’s sauce it didn’t really make much difference. I try every BBQ place I can and up to now I place Ronnie’s in SC’s top ten.

Mouth-watering greatness. You’ll notice the building is small and unpretentious. The people here devote themselves to nothing but being the best — and if you’re a devotee of great barbecue, that will probably matter more than the fact that the building only accommodates the kitchen and the outdoor dining space is limited. For most people, this isn’t a stop-and-eat place, it’s a pick up and go place, but once you get home you won’t be disappointed. For many years, Elgin was known far and wide as the home of the great Hammy’s Barbecue, which used to be located across the street. When Hammy sadly closed up shop, it left a great void in Elgin, but Ronnie quickly took up the slack. He doesn’t have the place for a full buffet as Hammy’s did, but the food is every bit as tasty and tender.

She said…“Amazing ribs, pulled pork and beans. I’ve only eaten here once so far because we live out of town, but the food is amazing and I will definitely eat here again. Yummy!!” He said…“Wow thank you Elgin, SC for giving us good BBQ ribs. This is the typical South Carolina roadside rib joint only opened a few hours. If you are on I-20 take the 15 minute detour because it is worth it. The ribs are cooked perfect not a lot of bone shine and the meat just falls off the bones… nom nom… give me some now!”

Can I just give a Mile High shout-out to Ronnie’s Ribs from Colorado? I went to Ronnie’s Ribs today in Elgin, SC for the first time. I’m on a quest to see all 50 states. South Carolina was my 49th state(as of today) and I have tried BBQ literally all over the country. I was first exposed to melt-in-your-mouth BBQ at the age of 14 at some place in South Bend, IN at 10:00 o’clock in the morning. We were not hungry, just rolling by, but smelled the smoker going and sampled what I remember to be the most tender, sweet ribs ever. But that was nearly 25 years ago. I have waited 24 years and seen 49 of 50 states and Ronnie’s Ribs in Elgin, SC are now the precedent by which all other ribs will be judged. To say they were smoky, juicy & tender enough hardly does them justice. I haven’t washed my hands of the scent of the BBQ sauce! The sauce was the BEST I’ve ever sampled. The perfect combination of mustard, vinegar and goodness. I can hardly describe it. This is not hyperbole, just honest truth. I didn’t get to South Carolina soon enough. Had I know about Ronnie’s Ribs, I would’ve come here first! This made my trip. The best ribs I can remember! Thanks, Ronnie’s Ribs, for that true Southern BBQ experience!

Well Ronnie’s has done it again and they’ve done it oh-so-right. Five stars for this place and their can’t-be-beat ribs! I opted for the rib sandwich for $ 7.50, wondering what to expect. What I got was far less sandwich and more massive combo for a caveman’s appetite. Within the Styrofoam package, two untainted pieces of white bread lay atop a sheet of wax paper. Oh readers, it was below the bread and wax paper betwixt the splendidly prepared meat that I found a passion for grilling exemplified. My hands started to shake as I coaxed the charred-to-perfection goodness from the bone, doing my best to place what I could on a piece of bread.(…) Read the rest of the review here:
