Had Breakfast for the second time at La Cabaña! FOOD: excellent ! From Chilaquiles to tacos everything is fresh and tasty! Alyson arrival you are greeted with Tostaditas with poco de gallo and red house salsa. If you ask them for a spicier salsa they will bring you the Salsa Diabla! This one makes my nose run mmmm sooo amazing! DRINKS: good! Their Micheladas are so good! Made with Clamato, lime juice and hot sauce! Then you add beer. It is like a Bloody Mary but with beer instead of vodka yum ! SERVICE:?Good! This restaurant is REALLYMEXICAN !

These amigos know sauces! Fantastic huevos rancheros, eggs on corn tortillas slathered with tomato onion sauce, plus beans & rice on the side, just $ 7. Steak fajitas had amazing charred & caramelized peppers & tomatoes mixed with fork-tender beef strips, of course refried beans & rice on the side, a pile of steaming soft corn tortillas too, wow just $ 12. Beef enchiladas had a slightly sweet, mildly spiced sauce instead of the usual tomato-chile powder, a nice touch, a steal at $ 9. No free chips and salsa, but considering the low prices, I can’t hold that against them here. The red salsa is hot, not kidding! Whole crisp fried corn tortillas come with an order of guacamole($ 6), break ‘em to size. Fresh lime wedges on the table woke my tequila thirst hmm. Vegetarian rating: argh maybe 2 stars. Some options are cactus(nopales) salad, quesadillas, guacamole; only entrée I saw is chiles rellenos with cheese. Loved the corn, beans and peas in the Spanish rice. Friendly English-speaking service. Fast too. BYO, all they got is jarritos. La Cabaña finally gives me a reason to look forward to visiting ewr or ikea lol.

I’m giving this place 2 stars only because the tacos and guac were good. The service sucks. The rice and beans that came aside with my burrito tasted old and over fried. Never going back to this place.

Never disappointed with the food and service here! My favorite are the tacos! They offer different choices from steak, chicken, pork, chorizo and more. Been here 4 times and always get the tacos. Hopefully next time I will try one of the other dishes, they also look very good. The staff and the owner are friendly and helpful. This is a authentic Mexican restaurant and I recommend for any one to come and enjoy good Mexican food!

My husband and I stumbled upon this place while on vacation. We were starving and lots of places were closing. We happened upon this restaurant thru Unilocal, and I’m glad we did! It was super tasty! They were about 45 min from closing but didn’t rush us and provided us with great service and food. They have awesome chips and salsa and tacos. Everything tasted fresh and authentic! The price was good too.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in New Jersey. Amazing enchiladas. I love the salsa, poco de gallo, and lime they bring you for starters. Nice ambiance and very friendly staff.

Worked late in Elizabeth and a coworker suggested Mexican. He went to Unilocal of course and said he found a neat little place on Elizabeth Avenue. It’s a place on a corner with cute décor. It’s not the kind of Mexican restaurant where the waiter brings chips and salsa to the table as soon as he sees the front door crack open. I get the feeling that’s something Gringos expect. As far as I’m concerned that’s a bunch of calories and carbs I can do without anyway. We had a hankering for fajitas. My friend chose beef. I chose chicken even though the poultry version wasn’t on the menu. No sizzling plates here. The dishes came out on a regular plate with the rice, the refried beans and a small salad. It’s much more authentic. The grilled chicken with peppers and mushrooms, in a tasty sauce was terrific. The salsa was fresh and there were enough tortillas to go around. The service was prompt and friendly We definitely enjoyed the food.

First time here. Brother brought me to this place for AUTHENTICMEXICANDISHES. He ordered the Enchiladas Rojas and I ordered the Enchiladas en Salsa verde. BOTH delicious. Plate comes also with Mexican rice and refried beans. Service was great and the ambiance very relaxing. Would come again for sure and order the Chimelada !! Beer with hot sauce !! Highly recommend.

Sit back into the most comfortable restaurant chairs you’ll ever sit in and enjoy an authentic, delicious Mexican meal. The nopal(cactus) salad is excellent. The cured beef(cecina) is wonderful. The chorizo tacos(soft small round disks — this isn’t Tex Mex– no crunchy shells here!) is awesome! To drink try the Horchata — very different! The staff is friendly and no one gets rushed!

my fellow Unilocaler recommended me this spot. I love the décor and the customer service was great. My friend had the steak tacos that came with rice, beans, salad and tostadas. I ordered the shrimp with garlic. Which was very good. I have nothing to complain about. Highly recommend this spot!

If I still lived closer, I’d drop by often. What we experienced was friendly, good service and simple, good food. We tried the Carne Asada, Grilled Chicken, and Whole Fried Fish($ 9-$ 16). All of our plates came with salad and rice … and beans or the tortilla. The homemade salsa for the table seemed like it was a condiment for the meal(versus being served with chips) and was spicy — oy to the jalapeño that caught two of us by surprise! It was busy for lunch on a Tuesday with diners who appeared to be locals — another good sign. It’s street parking but our food came fast … happily didn’t need to refill the meter :).

OMGENCHILADAHEAVEN. I love this place. They put the spice in spicy. The chips are homemade. Authentic, I swear someone’s mom is in the back there cooking. Cute décor, bright and fun. If I lived closer I would go all the time.

This is one of the best and most authentic Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. I have ordered the enchiladas, the beef tacos, beef with onions, the guacamole, the horchata(amazing sweet drink) and everything is just so delicious, never disappointed. Big plates too. The waiters are nice, the place is also very cute. Under-priced if you ask me because it’s that good!

Another local review that I have forgotten to write, bad, bad Unilocaler! Not to far from home, close to one of my favorite bakeries! Did I ever tell you that I lived in Texas for a long time, try 8 years long, and about four of those in south Texas!!! Orale!!! I love Mexican food, not Tex Mex, not Mexican from the Chinese place, real Mexican food with cilantro on everything, limes and radishes for garnish, establishments that make fresh lime juice in the blender with the rind and all(and a whole bunch of sugar!!!) Corn tortillas, not flour for the taquitos!!! Any Mexican place that has Tripas, has my stamp of approval on authentic!!! The salsas are good, service is good as well, can be a bit slow at times. Inexpensive place, great food … go!
