Super cheap sushi fix. $ 1 sushi/sashimi 3 rolls for $ 10. $ 2.50 handrolls When I pay a dollar for a sushi and don’t die afterwards, place deserves at a bare minimum 3 stars. Throw on the fact that tomo also offers uni, ebi, scallop on the dollar menu(this rarely occurs at dollar sushi restaurants), they get 4 stars. As with all dollar sushi spots, avoid slow days like Monday or Tuesday. Fish quality ain’t the best, but this place is incredibly busy so they go through fish quickly. This guarantees fresh fish. Fresh poor quality fish, but fresh. For a buck all you can ask for is fresh anyway. Cheap sake too. Same box ozeki sake at every other sushi place goes for at least 10 bucks, 7 here. Handrolls are made with generous cuts of sashimi(2 thick slices). Service is ok. Wait staff takes your order and bring it out. Gotta ask for everything else, ain’t no one checking in on you. Also order the sushi in a set number when ordering alot i.e. 3 eel, 3 salmon, 3 ebi etc, if you order 2 of this, 5 of that, 3 of this, i got news for you, you’re not gonna get your full order. Sushi chefs here are either woeful counters or want to cheat you out of a few dollars…

The only reason I go there is for the food. The service is just terrible. They all seem miserable and not even one smile. They complain about tipping. But the food is good. I love the fancy roll, negimaki, chicken maki. The potato shrimp is a good appetizer to order too.

And to think I have been going to tomo for over 10 years in jackson heights. One visit to this place in queens blvd and I will NEVER return. The service is terrible, all the waitresses have little to no manners. They literally forgot our food, no apology no nothing, just completely forgot and made us wait TWOHOURS for 3 simple rolls. The food was okay, the rolls were made lazy. Just a bad experience overall, i would not recommend this place to anyone. Sucks for them they lost two sushi lovers.

I’m sad to actually write this review. Tomo has always been to my go-to sushi place. I literally buy sushi from here every 2 days. Yes, their food is amazing and I could never complain about it. But their staff and customer service is just horrible. I have never once seen the staff be respectful in anyway. Every time I come to Tomo, I always bring extra money for tip. They will literally stop you and not let you leave until you give them the amount of tip that would satisfy them. I understand that some waitresses live based by their tips, but you have to know that in order for you to actually receive a good amount of tips, you have to do customer service. Giving your customer their food and then call it a day ISNOT customer service. I Now, this is recent: Last night I was hungry and their was no dinner at home. So I decided to call pick up. I live literally a block away from Tomo. My phone doesn’t work so I had to use my uncle’s phone. When I called them, they asked me for my phone number so I asked them to give me a few seconds so I could look for my uncle’s phone number. I literally took only 5 seconds and Tomo hung up on me. Not to mention, I always have been a loyal customer and I always ordered from Tomo. So this made me really angry. But I still called back to try to order my food. I’m assuming she recognized the phone number so she answered with«Ugh, Tomo.» I tried not to let her rudeness get to me so I just ordered my food as fast as I can to get out of the conversation. The whole time on the phone, she gave me so MUCHATTITUDE. She told me «10 minutes» and it took 30 minutes for my food to be ready. When I went in to pick up my food, she gave no f*cks about the fact that I’m a customer. She gave me my change and then started socializing with her co workers. Not to mention, the people she was socializing with were waitresses. Those waitresses should be taking care of the customers INSIDE the store. The store was packed when I came. If I could file a complaint to the manager: The lady I was speaking to was working on April 14, 2016 at night.

The ambiance is great, I like how relaxing it is in the eyes. I ate by the sushi bar, I liked my dinner, however the sushi lacked wasabi in between the fish and rice, just kinda hoped they’d be more traditional since their ambiance kinda reminds me of Japan. The food is great for people who are craving a quick grab sushi wouldn’t suggest this place for a first date though, not that I’m in one. I’m just saying I’ve tasted better sushi somewhere else. Good place and food, just not truly satisfied.

Standard good cheap sushi. They have 3 rolls for $ 10 special. There’s a good amount of rolls to choose from for the 3 rolls special. Plus they have $ 1 sashimi and sushi pieces. This is my to go place for when I want sushi but not pay so much. I usually get take out and sometimes they will be wrong about estimate time that the food will be ready and I end up having to wait like 10 mins extra. Not a big deal but I would like to get my food by the time I get there so I don’t need to wait.

Food is fair and decent but service is horrible. I used to go here for some time then they started getting grimy with the tip. Always demanding more every time. This happened four times and after the fourth time we just moved to Sushi Island a couple blocks down. Don’t demand tip when you already got tip. Don’t be rude and make scene at the restaurant. It’s rude. If I don’t like the service I’ll give the tip I believe you guys deserve but somehow they’re always running after us because the tip«not enough more tip. tip not included» is what they always say. Rude. Go someplace else so they’ll learn to be nicer.

I grew up in this neighborhood and I’ve always seen this place across the street from Queens Place, but I never went there, because I don’t usually go across Queens Blvd to get food after shopping, I mostly go to QCM or just go home. But I’ve been here 3 times now and one more time we got take out. This place is owned by Chinese people(I think they’re FJ). The sushi here is just okay. I’ve tried various rolls here and they can satisfy my craving, but it’s not«omg this is so good». The price of the rolls isn’t too pricey, but it’s not cheap either. The one time we got takeout, we got rice dishes instead of sushi and I don’t recommend them. They lack flavor and they’re not that good. I would only recommend the sushi here if you have a craving for sushi nearby.

I come here a lot with my friends whenever we feel like treating ourselves to some sushi. After a couple of years of coming here one of the things that I’ve noticed is the size of their sushi pieces are getting smaller and smaller, which sucks because we have to spend more money just to get full. Their quality of sushi is okay, I wouldn’t say it’s cheaper but it doesn’t knock your socks off at the same time. I normally order their nigiri a la carte($ 1 each which was a great deal until they got smaller). The rice on their nigiri isn’t too bad, I can taste the sweetness of the vinegar but the texture of the rice doesn’t resemble that of Japanese rice. Their rolls/pieces have gotten smaller, and that’s affected the amount of filling inside each piece. I normally get the eel avocado, spicy tuna, yellow tail and the regular tuna pieces but I haven’t been able to enjoy them as much as I used to because of their size. I know they’re trying to save more food by doing this but it’s had a negative impact on my experience here. Still, they offer pretty affordable deals here but there are other places out there that will give you more bang for your buck.

I was drawn in by the 3.5 star review but I don’t think I’ll return. First of all, I ordered a Bento Box Lunch w/Sushi. It came with only 5SMALL pieces of sushi. I don’t care for California Roll so I asked for spicy tuna instead. In most places, this is a $ 1 add on. No big deal. Here, it was $ 3. Really? Decent miso and salad accompanied.

Review is for delivery: Cheap sushi delivered to your door when you wanna eat sushi and not break the bank, while in your jammies. $ 10 for 3 rolls, all day! $ 1/pc of a good slice of sashimi! Taste is pretty average, nothing spectacular. If you just want to have sushi, but not necessarily blown away by it, then this is your place.

3 rolls for $ 9.99? Sure!!! Don’t mind if I do!!! As for the flavor and sushi, it’s not all that… I love the price but the taste is lacking. Avoid the Philadelphia roll unless you love the extra smoke flavor. Idk what they did with it but it was extremely smokey when we ordered. The udon had a very strong mushroom taste. If you love mushrooms, go for it! The staff was very nice and they were very attentive! avoid sitting next to the fish tank when it’s super cold… A whoosh of cold wind comes by every time the door opens!

Tomo is my go-to place in Queens for my sushi fix. One of my best friends introduced me to this place earlier in the year. I haven’t been here since April 2015 and my most recent visit was this past Saturday. I met up with a friend for dinner who was visiting from out of town. I usually get the 3 rolls combo for $ 10 and it’s a great deal! My favorite rolls are the salmon tempura roll and the spicy tuna with crunch roll. I’m able to finish all 3 rolls in one sitting — surprisingly and I would be pretty full afterwards. I also tried the salmon teriyaki lunch special bento box before — pretty good as well. Overall, I haven’t had any problems with this place. Great place to come catch up with friends.

Il give them 2 stars to be generous just because they’re food is pretty good, so kudos to the cooks/sushi Chefs. But the service in this particular Tomo is horrific, Asian waitresses leave a lot to be desired. Crazy attitude, not attentive, act like they are doing you a favor by serving you… Me: Sitting alone having lunch/dinner Waitress: puts my order and water glass on opposite side of table where I need to reach to grab my food Me: Says Thank you Multiple times Waitress: Just walks away with a skank face… Are you serious??? I’m just here to eat my food, if I could pick it up where they bring it out I would just do it myself. Service kills what would be atleast a 3.5 star or maaaaybeeee a 4

Out of all the neighborhood sushi restaurants, I find Tomo one of the best in terms of price, quality and amount. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of other places that are better, but for this area, it is pretty decent. I’ve never had too much of an issue with service. At times, I’ve also waited about 45mins for seats, but I do agree that the employees can smile a little more and be more welcoming — but to me, this isn’t a 5 star restaurant so I’m not going to expect that much from them — as long as food is good and I don’t have to wait terribly long for it, that is fine by me. Their 3 rolls for $ 9.95 is one the best deals they have besides the lunch specials. They also have a variety of special rolls that cost a little more, but they are also good. I love the fact that their sashimi are only $ 1 per piece. What I love the most though, is getting the salmon sashimi. Their pieces are cut well, are nice big pieces, look fresh and tastes great. We went to a few others which I can’t remember the name of anymore and the pieces were small and cut pretty poorly as if they used a dull knife. All in all, this is a great place for a sushi fix if you don’t mind the service that some people seem to be receiving. I’ll be sad to leave this neighborhood and this restaurant soon.

I needed to get my sushi fix after church this past Sunday. The only sushi places nearby were Sushi Island and Tomo. I have been told by my sister that Tomo’s sushi exceeds in quality than Sushi Island’s. However, Sushi Island’s service is better. Well, I can do without the service I guess since I was hungry and our options were limited. Food — nothing to brag about. The greatest thing we had was the Calamari Dragon. Beef negamaki was flavorful, but nothing out of the ordinary. Volcano sushi was standard. You can pretty much get this in any other sushi place. Service — Oh yes, please just throw the menus on our table like you don’t care. We love it when people treat us that way. That’s the sure way to get tipped!(Sense the sarcasm). At one point, she came to our table and asked a question, before I could finish my sentence, she turned around and walked away. RUDE. No smile, no sense of customer service/good manners. Look, I know it’s Queens. But you gotta start somewhere. I am not asking for you to lick my feet and kiss my hands, but can’t you at least place the menus on our table the regular way, that is without making us feel like we have done something wrong to you? I hope not all of your waitresses are as rude as the one I had, Tomo.

A simple Japanese restaurant located near Queens Center Mall makes it an ideal rest stop after shopping. Depending on what day or what hour, there can be just a few minutes wait time. It is convenient to get to, inexpensive, and does a decent job to satisfy your stomach when hungry. Bento Boxes are your best options here. They come with an entrée such as chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, pork katsu, fish katsu, and etc., white rice, salad, three fried shumai, California Roll sushi pieces, and miso soup. Best part of it all is that they are served every day of the week before 4:00 pm. A pretty big portion of you ask me. The bento boxes are pretty average but you can’t complain since its price tag is low. Any Three Rolls combo lets you choose a variety of sushi rolls. Scallion Yellowtail, Alaskan Roll, and Eel Avocado were our choices. They are quite acceptable for non-sushi snobs. Cut into eight pieces and mouth-sized. However, if you are a sushi snob or was exposed to quality sushi before — don’t bother getting it. Combo does not come with side miso soup or salad which I find very odd compared to other similar restaurants. Overall, I say it’s an alright spot if you’re not too picky. Stick to bento boxes.

I’ve been to this place several times before. The service was usually always mediocre to acceptable. But this past Friday night, it was just horrible! I ordered a salad and she brought it out with chopsticks. Like most people, I prefer eating my salad with a fork as it is easier to grab. I asked for a fork. She said«ok ok» yet NEVER came back with it. When it was time to bring out the sushi plate, they brought out my boyfriends plate, but mine came about 10 minutes later. It was only the 2 of us dining, they should have brought out the plates together. Getting the waitresses attention for more water was impossible. They were only quick however, to bring the check. I noticed because there was a line of people waiting to be seated and they were trying to get rid of us asap. The food was okay. Nothing to brag about. The sushi rolls were really really small, although usually they’ve been a bit bigger. Because of the terrible service that night, I rated this place an overall 3. My boyfriend is never one to complain about places, but even he said something about this experience and the atrocious service. I don’t like to be rushed especially since I’m a paying customer and I too had to wait for a table. The sushi was okay, I will definitely try a different place next time!
