I was really disappointed last time I ate there. Bbq barn used to be the best in Evansville but they have recently changed ownership. Apparently they still have the same pit master but I find that hard to believe with the quality of the meat being served. It’s been over kept in warmers so now you don’t get that freshness and savory flavored meat that you did when it was ran by the entire family. Miss you guys. Wish you hadn’t sold it. To the new owners. Show some pride. Paint your walls. Look into new floor coverings. Clean the place up! And above all, treat your sauce better than you are. You can’t just put it in giant squeeze bottles and leave it on the tables. You have to rotate out the bad with the fresh and good. It goes bad!

Maybe I’m bbq spoiled as a Kansas City native. I went into this«establishment» there was a whiteboard with the menu written in terrible handwriting, and no prices. This«establishment» was lacking in so many ways, that I assumed it couldn’t be that expensive. I ordered the 3 meat combo platter. Chicken, sausage and pulled pork. The chicken was the best of the three. The sausage was barely edible, and the pulled«pork» was simply a pink mush with strands of what this«establishment» calls pork. It came with a side of onions that looked like they had been cut three or four days ago. It also came with a pickle spear, which was smashed and half broken. It also looked as though it had been out of the jar for a while, and had been previously squashed into its container. Now the sides, BBQ bake beans and potato salad. The BBQ bake beans tasted like vande kamps, and the potato salad had the texture of styrofoam. I asked for my check… And this is when I became upset with the place. $ 19.87 for this«meal»… I will never even look at this«establishment» as I pass by. It was absolutely horrible.

I love this barbecue! Every time I’m on their side of town I stop by and get at least a pound of the pork in sauce or a pound of the brisket to take to the office for lunch. They smoke the meats to perfection and the food is always extremely consistent and delicious! The staff is down home friendly and always on point. Good value, good portions and I highly recommend them!

Imagine the worst meat(possibly horse) that you’ve ever eaten and smother it with something that looks like barbecue sauce, but tastes like a gas station door knob. I went there with my girlfriend for lunch, hoping it was going to be as good as the reviews had stated(4 – 5 stars). Well, I imagine those people would eat an old leather boot if you cooked it long enough. Our food was dry, overcooked, flavorless, overpriced, and even the sides were abysmal. I wouldn’t eat there if I was forced at gunpoint. Go ahead and shoot me; this place is terrible.

Heard positive things about this local BBQ place and decided to check it out. Had the pulled pork platter with vinegar slaw and fried okra. The food was good but it didn’t really distinguish itself from other BBQ places. The server was nice and attentive. And the décor was nothing fancy(paper towels, plastic utensils, extra sauce). I’ll probably go back and try the ribs next time. Overall I give it 3 ½ stars.

It was a little depressing inside and the food was not that good. It wasn’t bad but not worth the price. I would have preferred a chain restaurant.

I stumbled on to this place because Shyler’s closed(and was going down hill anyway, in my opinion). It has a very casual BBQ restaurant(checkerboard table cloths) type of feel. Is usually pretty quiet. Lots of people coming and going for takeout orders. I’ve eaten at the BBQ Barn several times; its a good sign that I keep coming back. Personally, I think the BBQ sauce it too sweet, so I cut it with the vinegar based sauce that is on the table. I have tried both their pork and chicken, and both were delicious. I also like their potato salad and am pumped that they serve Grippo’s! I just recently tried their strawberry pie which was okay. They also have huge salads and everytime I’m in there people are ordering BBQ baked potatoes. Service has always been good, however during lunch rush it can be slow. Some suggestions I would give the owners is to put a TV or two in, make pies from scratch, and start serving beer/wine.

Looks like I will be the lone desenter. We stopped there on last Saturday. 2 of us had the sausage, 1 the pulled pork and I had the pork pit. My sandwich meat was cool, not warm — not hot. 1st strike, potatoe chips as the side 2nd strike((eat the bag it will taste better, Grippos suck)), if you are going to have«featured» sauce on the table make it a good one. Niether were very good in my opinion. Many other people came and went, so it seems that they do a good take out and return customer business. This is my second bbq place in Evansville to try. hopefully the third will be a good place.

Such a great place. Its a place you always think about but only get the chance to eat at because of the location. I have eatin here twice this past week. The ribs are fantastic. Meaty, fall off yhe bone! The sides are also good to including the sweet vinegar slaw is great. Beans are good too. Portions are large and the prices are awesome. The staff of the local family owned business is great.

Stopped here for a quick bite before a movie. I had the pork pit sandwich. It was delicious. As one reviewer mentioned, I just wish they served beer.

Wandered into this family owned restaurant the first day they opened and since then I’ve never passed up an opportunity to eat there. Everything on their menu uses the highest quality meat which they smoke to near perfection, and their signature Sweet n’ Tangy Sauce is to die for. Everyone who works there is super friendly, and they get bonus points for having Grippos and Dr. Pepper. Not the most phenomenal selection for sides items, but their fried okra is amazing, and if you’re not feeling the whole bar-b-q thing, they’ve got loaded baked potatoes and salads. A few minor strikes against them: they don’t serve beer and they’re not open super late, but that’s easy to forget about as you’re digging in to what I consider the best bar-b-q joint east of the Mississippi(I’ve never eaten western bar-b-q, so I don’t want to be presumptuous). Amazing. Just absolutely amazing.

Some of the best Bar-B-Que. We shot a feature film in the Evansville area in the fall of 2010, and they were generous enough to feed the whole cast and crew for a day. Great food, great people. Support this local establishment!
