As far as this store being a functional game stop goes, it passes. The shelves are usually well organized, the store is clean and they have some of the better customer service out of all of the gamestops in the general area(Bayside/Flushing/Freshmeadows). I’ve always found the employees here to be really helpful. However, I’ve never known any employee of this gamestop(or any other gamestop for that matter), that hasn’t been treated like crap by the corporation and has come to hate the store. When they ask you to sign up for the store card or to preorder games it’s so corporate doesn’t come down hard on their asses. From what I’ve heard they don’t even get rewarded for taking more preorders, they just avoid punishment.

I’ve been here at least 10 times in the past 2 years. Anita and Charles, very descent people and always taking care of business the way five star restaurants do. I buy used games all the time over here and never had a problem. It’s awesome that they would give you the option of refund within 7 days for used games. I mean honestly if I wanted to a buy new item with a guaranteed refund, I’d go to Bestbuy or Amazon but given their price of used games, if you do a price check while your there like I always do, you’ll find their price are often times significantly cheaper than all the other guys. I mean because of them, I have a nice collection of 20+ PS3 games that cost me less than $ 100 including Injustice, Batman Arkham Origins and Super Street Fighter IV.

I’ve never had bad service from the employees, but then again, I’ve only had to deal with them a couple of times, because they never have the games that I want. Including games that just came out… they aren’t sold out, they just don’t have them. Other than that, it’s better than a lot of other Gamestops I’ve been to.

Went in to buy a game for my husband and the sales associate was totally rude. It was my first time buying something and the first thing I hear when I ask about a game is «go to the end of the line». First of all, there was NO line and second, he pulled out a used game and I asked if there is a new one and he said no, this is all we have left right now. Do you want it or not?” He was really annoyed that he was helping me and talked to me like I was wasting his time. If he doesn’t like customer service, he should work at a department store stocking I the back because I will never go back there again. It’s the closest to me but I’d rather go to the city where the workers are more respectful to the customers. Forgot to add, I told the cashier that I didn’t know much about games and he said«don’t worry we don’t know much about games either». Real nice…

I went to their store to buy some games a controller and a headset, the cashier was rude, telling me my taste in controller color was shit, he then gave me the wrong item and the manager continued to defend him. I got headphones when asking for an xbox live headset and they told me it was my fault, i bought an adapter so i wouldnt have to go back and deal with them. I love gamestop but this location does the franchise poorly.

Honestly surprised that its still open… The place looks a bit messy, a bit dirty, and not a place you want to spend much time in. They happen to have an OK selection of games here — I actually found a title that I couldnt find in other retail stores for my 3DS . What really annoyed me though was the badgering by the employees. I get it, they have a script they need to stick to, and maybe management pushes it on them — other Gamestops have a very similar practice. I read game blogs ALOT — I dont take it kindly that someone tells me that I am totally wrong, and then tries to get me to sign up for pre-order of just about EVERYSINGLEUPCOMINGGAME, sign me up for newsletters, sign me up for a «reward card», and rattle off a billion other things to me while I just want to get my game and get out of the store. What makes me more upset is when a friend of mine told me that they open new games, play them, re-package them as new and sell them. That is just total disrespect. I feel bad though for one of the guys working there, I wont go into specifics, but he has a serious condition, and I can only imagine that this is just one of the very few places that gave him a shot at a job.

Whenever you walk in, you see several young teenagers with glasses and a big smile on their face. Then, you catch a whiff of that wake-up-in-the-morning smell and realize it’s from these kids trying to get their game(literally) on. It’s like they wake up at 9AM, lay around in bed, decide to go to Gamestop at 12PM and peruse the new releases. C’mon, at least be hungover.

What I went inside for: A birthday gift for my friend«Bayonetta» for PS3. What I came out with: A birthday gift for my friend«Bayonetta» for PS3 and a burning desire to go on a nerd punching tangent. I went in there, and went straight for the PS3 section to pick out my friend’s gift, «Bayonetta». Not being familar with the policies at the store, I’ve asked a nerd that was wearing a shirt with a «GameStop» emblem on its most prominent spot of the apparel, what I thought was a very softball question. I uttered«Do you guys have Bayonetta left?» and the nerd responded after 3 awkward seconds of pause saying«If it’s on the shelf, we have it». Now writing this in this digital text format may not sound as condescending as the nerd put it, but the tone that the nerd used for that sentence could’ve been naturally followed by a very insulting and condescending word to the likes of: moron, idiot, dumbass, and noob(interestingly enough). Among all the excitement, I kept cool and took the game to the counter and bought it. Now will I go back to the store? Probably, considering its near-monopoly over physical channel retail for video games. Will I wish for that certain employee to be fired for perpetual bad customer service? No. In fact, I wish him quite the opposite. I want him to work there as long as he wants, I want him to work there for the rest of his life. I want him to work there until his virtual girl friend asks him to break up with her. I wish him well, and his other snobbish video gaming friends that thinks they’re too damn cool for real life, or «RL».
