The owner is very friendly; the place is nice and clean; our family always come here! Seafood pancake, short ribs and tofu pots are our regular; they also have lunch special for weekdays! Great price good value!

Decided to try out this popular spot while in NY and I must say, the hype is real! Very good tofu soup, side dishes, nice service, very clean restaurant, and overall great experience. Wish I got to try the meats and other dishes as they smelled and look delicious.

Standard Korean restaurant with ordinary décor. But my husband and I love to come here for tofu. Always have seating so we never have to wait. I love their large selection of the mini dishes. All very yummy with a good variety. Can’t speak for all their dishes but their tofu soup is very flavorful. I usually get their oyster flavor. I have also tried their beef soup with potato, well seasoned, but I’m not a big potato fan but my husband like it.

This place reminds me of BCD tofu house. They bring out more than ten different appetizers and you can ask for refills. The seafood tofu dish was great. The portion size was just about right. Nice ambiance and great place to chill and hang with your friends.

Went there for some tofu. I ordered Seafood Soon Tofu. It was ok. But they do have a lot of small dishes . I like those small dishes!

We had a late night desire for Korean food so headed out to Mr Soon Tofu as it is one of the few tofu places open past midnight. Arriving at 11 pm we were surprised there were several tables being served. Even as we left past midnight a couple more people strolled in. The soon tofu stews were excellent. Served with hot stone rice bowls and a vast array of bonchon. The Pajun pancake was crispy and served hot on the iron griddle. The restaurant is super clean and service expediently spot on.

This was a first time coming here and I had a pleasant time. We came on a Sat for a friend’s birthday dinner and we’re seated quickly. We all got sunduboo since we did come to a tofu restaurant. Korean restaurants normally give out free side dishes but this was my first time having 16 side dishes, or technically 32 side dishes since we had 6 people. They were so yummy I could have a meal with just those. I normally get the beef sunduboo and was happy to find that their sunduboo wasn’t overly spicy. The tofu was the perfect size and consistency. Our server was extremely kind and helpful and helped us light the birthday cake and also sang happy birthday to our friend. We gave her a slice of cake and a happy tip. Food and service here was great!

Meh, my friend and bf came here last night, for a quick bite. The place looks clean and stuff the stuff were friendly. Food is ok I been to a lot of Korean restaurant and eat a lot of Korean food. And this place is not so great. I enjoy the soju and beer and the stuff let us stay a little longer even after they close. Nothing really makes me wanna eat here again unless my friends demand it hehehe. Good service tho. Thank you

So, if you haven’t been here yet or never have before, this is where the old«fake» BCD used to be. Not sure if they got new owners/management, but they definitely spruced up the place a ton! Completely remodeled and so much cleaner. The soondubu(or tofu stew) tastes pretty much the same to me as the old place(I always go for the kimchi extra spicy!), but the real difference-maker here is the quite large selection of ban chan(side dishes). Small portions, but lots to choose from and they’re all pretty good! You can always ask for more if you have to like a particular dish, so don’t be shy! I don’t usually order the other dishes when I come here because I’m usually there because I want the soondubu, but there is an extensive menu and prices are decent enough(although some items like LA kalbi will cost you a pretty penny for a meh-sized portion). Service is pretty good when they’re not busy, but if you’re there during a rush, good luck getting a server’s attention. They definitely need to step up their organizational skills and learn how to be efficient when busy! Overall, a solid place to get your fix for an okay price.

I came here last September with my boyfriend and friends to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We made reservations ahead of time so we had a table ready for us. The restaurant was divided into two different rooms. Food and service was definitely not up to par. Banchan — The servers sure gave us plenty of these dishes, at most 10 – 15 different items and when we asked for extras they would give it to us — free of charge. Japchae — I was actually not too impressed with their version of Japchae because it was very, very oily and unseasoned. It just felt like we were eating a blob of oily noodles. Beef Soondubu — my boyfriend and I shared the beef soondubu(non-spicy) and it was actually my first time trying a soondubu and I loved it! It was warm, yummy, and hearty. Perfect for a chilly day! Bibimbap — We ordered two dishes of these. They were okay, but not as savory or delicious as the ones we have had before. Seafood Pancake — This was mediocre, not as crunchy or tasty as the ones I’ve had before and it was also very bland. Bulgogi — I really liked the bulgogi, but it was rather expensive. It was cooked just right, had a light sweetness to it. We brought a cake for our friend’s birthday, but the staff didn’t help with presenting the cake or cutting of it and instead we had to do it ourselves, but at least our friend appreciated the nice gesture from us. Service and food quality definitely needs much improvement. I don’t think I would be back here simply because the lack of good service and poor food quality. I rather stop by Kum Gang San or other Korean restaurants in Bayside and Flushing.

We did a sit down meal at this place and we were overwhelmed by the amount of little dishes that came out in the beginning of the meal. I had a lot of Korean food in my life time and you can just tell the chef and the employees really took their time to prepare each dish; from kitchen to plate. I highly recommend their seafood noodles(it’s enough to share for 2 people), Bulgogi Bibim-bap, Pork Bulgogi(order if you like spice), and of course their speciality soon tofu dishes(its vegetarian friendly!). Just skip lunch and come here to feast and rub your belly on the way out.

4.5 stars I was on the Q28 bus on my way to my best friends house for NYE and I saw this place during my bus ride. I was like … oh… a Korean tofu soup restaurant??? I knew that I wanted to check this place out when I saw the name of the restaurant. Catchy name — caught my attention. So guess what… my best friend said that she came here a few days before with her hubby. Both of them took me here for dinner on New Years Day. I got the seafood tofu soup [medium spicy] and it’s probably the best tofu soup that I have had. The broth is slightly richer than BCD Tofu House. But, I thought that there was more seafood in BCD’s tofu soup tho. We also ordered the Jap Chae [appetizer size] and it was not bad however it seemed a bit watery. The staff serviced us a bunch of different side dishes as well. It’s worth checking this place out and trying the tofu soup.

I was so upset when BCD closed down which was originally here. Finally had time to try this place out, I do like that it has much more appetizers than BCD did, and they renovated therefore the place was so much cleaner than it was! Service is definitely friendlier. Dont like that it isnt 24⁄7 like BCD was The soondobu taste better than the old BCD, but also 2 dollars more. My boyfriend got the Galbi tang, the beef quality seemed great and flavor was on point!

I came here at 12am the other night with a group of 10. It was very empty considering it was 12am. The service was prompt and they also gave us a lot of side dishes. I didn’t have to ask for refills of side dish and the servers kept filling our dishes which was a plus. The only downside is, their soon tofu isn’t top notch. The prices are similar, if not a bit cheaper than BCD. But I would rather make the drive to BCD for the soon tofu.

A lot of small free dish u get. Tofu soup almost the same with last owner which is name bechangdong or something They improved the soup taste, and add lots of free dish, this is the big lightspots. Price is reasonable Service I can say excellent.

The old Bookchaedong was my favorite soondubu place, even if the quality wasn’t great. it was flavorful and affordable and got the job done. the new BCD’s are fresh yeah but they sorely lack in the flavor department. i’m happy to say Mr. Soon tofu is a good replacement after the old establishment ended. The food is clean and also flavorful, they also have a wider selection of side dishes than the old location for variety lovers. the service is decent and the portions are adequate. i only dock a star since it’s a bit pricier than soondubu usually is. Parking is a pain but that’s no fault of theirs!

Talk about bs! I’m really disappointed today with Mr. Tofu because we actually liked this place especially after new ownership and the renovations were nicely done. We came in for lunch, ordered two combination soondubu, one bulgogi dolpan lunch special and later on we placed another combination soondubu to go. Here’s the problem. Lunch price for soondubu is $ 10.95. When we ordered the the third soondubu for takeout and asked for the check, the waitress comes and tells me that for take out orders, they are charged as dinner price $ 12.95. My issue was they didn’t disclose that with me before I made my order for takeout. They came and tried to lowball me when the check and takeout arrived. The manager’s explanation was that they give us more for takeout which is bull because it’s the same exact thing we ordered for lunch during dine in! Shouldn’t lunch prices be charged for lunch hours whether if it’s take out or dine in? And the banchan they gave us today sucked. They gave us a few duplicates, for example, two plates of kimchee. I got the feeling they were just giving us stuff other tables didn’t finished or touched. When I asked about the the steam egg or potato they make, they said they don’t have any for today. Meanwhile, I walked over the banchan prep station and saw plenty of it and also served to other tables! Verdict — I’m done with Mr. Tofu, plain and simple. There’s one waitress that could speak Korean and mandarin, she’s the only nice one here. Everyone else here are morons to the fullest extent.

Since the former BCD was one of my favorites, I decided to give this place a try. I like what they’ve done with the interior, more modernized and bright. But overall, this place is just alright. nothing really special. As many other reviewers have suggested, BCD is probably the better choice.

I’ve been craving for soondubu for soooo long and I finally got to satisfy my craving. This place replaced the BCD that used to be in the same location. The décor of this restaurant is really modernized and bright which makes it feel classy compared to the former BCD. However, it’s a bit pricier, but not more than the BCD down on Northern Blvd. This place gives a lot of different plates of banchan, a lot meaning around 15 or so. I didn’t exactly count how many plates since there were so many. Their soondubu is good as well. I ordered the combination soondubu and the soup was very flavorful. They had a good amount of ingredients. The workers help you crack your egg into your soondubu; YAY for me since, according to my friend, I never seen to crack an egg properly! I really liked my order and my friend ordered a seafood combination which he really enjoyed as well. I will be coming back since it opens till lateee also: D

this place sucked when it was BCD and now it sucks even more. my dad ordered nengmyun and asked for extra noodles(paid $ 5 bucks for it) and by the time he ended up giving my 3 year old some of it he literally had nothing left. lol… my mom ordered the nengmyun + galbi combo for $ 20 and the galbi had 5 ½ fucking pieces and wait here’s the best part. i ordered ddukbokee($ 9.99) and they literally gave me 9 pieces of fucking rice cakes. i’m not even joking. i had to ask the waitress if this was my whole dish because it looked like either a) the chef decided to stop making it half way or b) the employees decided to eat half of it. either way i did not feel happy about paying $ 1PERFUCKINGRICECAKE. fuck you. i will never come back. here’s a tip: for someone who works in the restaurant business. you should never be grimey about food.
