Oh wow their crab XLB were the best I’ve had. The wrapper was thin and delicate; I will probably opt to put down the $ 5 deposit for steamer basket next time. It takes a good 10 minutes to fill an order so I’d go here first, it’s on your right at the bottom of the escalator. It’s easy to find for people like me since they have a sign in English.

We ordered 2 different soup dumplings from here.(pork & crab) 2 steamer baskets = $ 10 deposit. No big deal… they give it back upon return. The pork one was unbelievably GOOD. The skin was translucent & thin and filled with yummy soup and pork filling. The crab meat one was beat out by some place else on taste but it was still very good … see next review. My gripe: We had more than 2 people so I asked for extra Styrofoam cups and spoons. Would give me only 1 extra set. Lady gave attitude even about giving the extra set. Whatever. Glad I was able to snag extras at another food stall. 4 Star rating is strictly on quality of food. Typical Chinese attitude. Definitely go at non-peak hours … I hear it gets crazy busy. Cash only. not just at this place. Oh how I wish we could have a food court like this in the Boston area.

I only came here because I was craving manhattan’s delicious Noodle Village. This small stall in New World Mall in Flushing is not even close to comparable to the Noodle Village in chinatown, Manhattan. I ordered shrimp wonton soup and the steam rice rolls. Both tasted awful. I didn’t even finish my food before I made the decision to completely stop forcing myself to keep eating. I will not be returning. Such a let down. On the other hand, you should really visit the Noodle Village in Manhattan. That won’t disappoint you, but this place will!

Ordered the milk tea, hand-made fish cake egg noodles, and the steam rice roll with mixed-sauce. The fish cake taste just like the Ranch 99 frozen ones, except more fishy in the way that non-fresh fish is fishy. Egg noodles were okay, but the soup was subpar(in Cantonese we say it has a soapy taste) that was not much improved even with red vinegar. The rice roll was okay, but was not tender, has a plastic-y bouncy feel about it that I had never experienced in Hong Kong. Milk tea was too thin, not particularly smooth, and you don’t get to put your own sugar in(it was too sweet). I miss so much that silky rich milk tea one takes for granted in HK. The staff was not particularly rude, so that’s good.(I never expect much from China town, lol)

Came hear for the sago«soup» desserts. We arrived at around 4pm but they were out of or not serving half their dessert menu. We opted for 3 soups because there was a $ 10 credit card minimum. The pumpkin and sago one sounded strange but was actually the most delicious one! We also tried red bean which was good but the green bean had a grassy, too healthy taste. Didn’t go well with the other two desserts. Overall, not phenomenal but a solid place to get your sweet sago fix.

Rice noodle roll here was bad. Their rice noodle sheets were very thick and hard, not smooth at all. Layers of rolls were almost sticked together. Sesame sauce and hoisin sauce were also bland. Never again :(

Quite honestly the worst Shanghai soup dumplings I’ve ever had. Yes, I have been to Shanghai and several Din Tai Fung locations, but I’ve also tried them at many, many other restaurants because I absolutely love them. This is the first time I have to write a review because of how disappointed and disgusted I was. My thoughts/experience: 1) They don’t taste like what soup dumplings normally taste like. I think they use a different soup base and different meat. 2) Skin is very thin, which usually isn’t a problem, but it’s to the point where I can see the soup inside and it holds too much meat. Not all places can accomplish the perfect skin-to-meat ratio that places like Din Tai Fung have mastered, so it’s not usually a dealbreaker, but I shouldn’t be tasting only meat and only a bit of the(odd) soup. 3) The worst part: I was getting sick of the taste of the meat, so I started just popping the dumplings to drain them and drink only the soup. What comes out isn’t only the soup, but lards of fat from the meat itself. Their wontons and veggie dumplings weren’t great either. I’ve heard so much about the delicious food in Flushing, so I’ll give the area another chance the next time I visit from San Francisco, but I’m definitely not coming back to this place. Only giving it two stars for the decent service.

Skin is the thinnest I’ve seen. Ordered the crabmeat soup dumplings. Although the skin was thin, it held in the soup and filling quite nicely. The soup had a seafood sweetness. My only complaint is that it didn’t have enough crab taste. Also, they hold on to $ 5 if you are dining in until you return their steamer basket. lol

Still my favorite crab soup dumplings in NYC. Consistently good and rich in crab flavor. I even like their dark vinegar, it’s slightly sweeter than the ones used in other places. When I plan to go, I actually bring my own spoon/ladle to catch all the yummy soup — the one they give is too shallow.

Because there were rumors that there’s an awesome soup dumpling spot in a Flushing Mall food court, that I searched high and low to figure out where it was. There is a $ 5 deposit for each steamer which is refunded when returned. That is certainly a good way to make sure you get your equipment back. Given that this is a Chinese food court, I didn’t expect this place to be very clean. The tables were not wiped. Good thing I keep Clorox wipe with me when I travel which I used to wipe down the table we chose. Their soup dumpling skin is very thin. Almost translucent. It required finesse to remove the dumpling from the steamer in tact. I actually broke an adjacent one while removing my selection. Oops! It would be a very good thing if they used a Chinese soup spoon. My guess is that they didn’t want to spend more for disposable Chinese soup spoons. With the disposable American soup spoon, it was quite challenging to eat. The dumpling was larger than the spoon itself. I had to scoop the vinegar with the spoon, put the dumpling on top, create a small puncture and slurp the soup so that it didn’t spill all over. Overall, the soup dumpling itself was superb. We also ordered the steam rice noodle with peanut and plum sauce. That was very tasty. However, the fried fish skin was a tad too crunchy. I had much better fish skin. We sat near a tray return stall/station so I actually observed how they clean the area. They used the floor mop to clean the tray return stall. EWWWWW!!! Talk about multi-use cleaning equipment! If you are a clean freak, order take out instead of eating at the food court.

Was gonna have a quick lunch in Flushing and really wanted soup dumplings. Found this place on Unilocal and gave it a try. Pressed for time, I only ordered that. If ur order is to stay, they require a $ 5 deposit on their steamers which I thought was stupid. As for the dumplings… a little disappointing. The skin is very thin which should be a good thing. But because they give u a tiny plastic spoon to eat with, it doesn’t work at all. Everything falls apart before it reaches ur mouth which defeats the purpose of having soup dumplings. They should really give u plastic chinese soup spoons. I’ll just go to a real restaurant for soup dumplings.

I hate Flushing. And I hate crowded, sticky, noisy food places. But man, the food. I absolutely love their soup dumplings. Dare I say it, I like them better than Joe’s Shanghai or Nan Xiang. There are 6 dumplings in each order and you’ll have to make sure you have enough cash to give the $ 5/bamboo steamer deposit. They have that wonderfully saucy rice noodle too, which I’ve been looking for since they closed the food vendors under the LIRR bridge.

Delicious!!! Crab soup dumplings are better than Joe’s Shanghai! The dumpling dough is extremely thin and the broth is creamy! You’ll be addicted the oyster flavor dumplings were also excellent. Can’t wait to try the other things on the menu.

Crab meat soup dumplings is a must! Comes 6 to an order, I’d recommend at least getting 3 soup dumplings per person. You won’t regret.

Food: 5⁄5 Ambiance: 0(come on, it’s the New World Mall Food Court: P) Cat recommends: Xiao Long Bao(soup dumplings) with crab. Cat suggests: One person buys the bao and stands in line – another person runs around and finds seats. I’ve had a lot of xiao long bao, and I’ve been disappointed by the ones with crab time and time again, even at Joe’s Shanghai(both locations!). This was hands-down the absolute best xiao long bao that I’ve had! The original was quite good too, but the crab actually tasted like crab for once and the soup was delicious. Took a star off because the lady at the register was rather brusque, despite the stall not being too busy, and the utensils are absolute crap. Cheap plastic spoons I could have cut myself on. Keep in mind that there is a $ 5 deposit per wooden steamer thing, but you get it back immediately upon returning the steamers. Don’t forget! $ 5 would buy you another few bao…

Love this place, even thou they have limited variety but overall is a good place to go to if u wanna some real HK style meal. The steam bun(xiao lng bao) is a must order dish. I always get thia when i order from here. I gave 4 stars because the services are good, food was yummy, decent price and the wait was not bad… Definitely recommended anyone who wanna some HK style meals…

I stopped by the food court after visiting the grocery store at New World Mall and was surprised to find a soup dumpling stall. I went with 2 orders of crab/pork dumplings along with an order of peanut and hoisin rice noodles. I have tried soup dumplings everywhere in the tri-state and have to admit, these are quite nice! Pleasantly surprised. There is a deposit required for the bamboo steamers and you get your cash back upon returning it. I don’t mind, because that’s the only way to steam and eat them. As far as the soup dumplings are concerned, they are made on premise, no reheated frozen stuff, they are a bit on the thinner side and smaller but not necessarily a bad thing. You get one of those wide plastic soup spoons, which is important, and a styrofoam cup in case the soup falls out. The soup is a good pork/crab flavor and you can identify an orange hue in the soup from the crab. There is a very discernible crab flavor which I really enjoyed. The only negative is the wait. I waited over 15 minutes for my order. Really? does it take 15 minutes to steam dumplings? It’s nice they’re steamed to order, but nearly everyone on line was ordering those. Can’t they figure out some way to continuously steam dumplings so we can get in and out? That’s how they do it in Shanghai! That’s the point of a fast food stall! Also, the dumplings could have been hotter. They were hot, but not scalding hot which is important as a warm soup dumpling is like warm coffee. I still give it 4 stars because it’s a legit soup dumpling with a nice flavor. Nice to know one can get these without going to a sitdown restaurant.

Okay, I was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Flushing and there was never a spot here for my childhood favorite peanut sauce & hoisin rice noodles(churng fun) here. I’d have to wait ’til my yearly dentist appointment in Manhattan Chinatown to be able to get it in one of the street noodle stalls there… So this place gets all my stars for having it fresh at such a reasonable price($ 3.50) right where I live. More recently I’ve had their soup dumplings and wonton soup and those are decent too. I mean, VERY decent for being in a crazy crowded Chinese food court. You can tell they are freshly wrapped each day because trust me, I’ve had many frozen dumplings in my day. The noodle items with meat are a little overpriced in my opinion. The braised beef noodle dish really wasn’t worth it. My loving relationship with this place is strictly about the rice noodles and soup dumplings/wontons.
