We came here because the restaraunt we originally planned on going that was nearby was closed. That being said this was a terrific Korean restaurant we stumbled upon. The food was amazing not too spicy well flavored. We didnt try the Korean BBQ but we got the bulgolgi, seafood soup, spicy black goat spoup and spicy tofu. Service was excellent they we’re very attentive and didn’t try to hurry us out. I would love to come back here and try more

This place serves the dish with proper taste. Yummy! Price is better than Manhattan. :)

We didn’t get good service there and the beef we got there is not as good quality as the first one… We asked about it, the Korean waitress said«go talk to the chef» what a good service! If you tip them less because you r not happy with service, they will talk back …

Not the best place to have kalbi. The kalbi was okay. The customer service was okay. They were so busy accommodating older men customers they didn’t even really pay attention to my table. It was funny watching them tho. It seemed like the waitresses love the male attention and I thought I was in a scene in a korean drama where the old drunken men would hit on really ugly old restaurant ladies. The sides dishes were not good at all. I would probably not come here again.

Pretty disappointed at their BBQ stuff, tasteless. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? But the service wasn’t great either. The waitress only asked how we were doing at the very end. The busboy was very nice, smiling and patient. I like the way how the tables were set in this restaurant, give customers privacy. Lots of starters is very cute. I don’t think I will return though.

Service and banchan used to be a lot better… not sure if there is a new chef, but I could taste a lot more MSG in their food. Servers were not consistent in attending to the meat, and we often had to turn the bbq meat ourselves to make sure it wouldnt burn. Not sure that I will be back.

I love this place! Pricing is typical — about $ 31 for kalbi and $ 29 for pork belly — but they give you a ton of bon chons and sometimes have a special, usually a larger dish, too. Their pork belly is delicious; not too fatty/chewy, and they cook it on a glass plate, which allows the oil to ooze away, but still maintains enough so it doesn’t dry out. I love when they cook the beef on it, too, because it’s so much juicier and brings out the marinade.(Note: they only cook the beef on the glass plate when it’s too busy for them to switch out for the metal grill, but I’m sure you can request for it.) Their haemul pajeon is also on point! Crispy, filled with squid, and not too thick and doughy. When my fam and I aren’t getting too fat off these things, we sometimes get the japchay as well. Yikes, my stomach just got grumbly writing about it… and now I’m hungry…

This place is either a hit or a miss. For example Friday night was horrible. The meat that we ordered was not properly seasoned and it was just salty. No sweet, just plain salt and mind you I’m not a sweet fan but i know how korean bbq should taste like and that was not it. However the service is good but for all the money you spend i would like good food as well. So sad cause i thought i finally found a go to place for my korean bbq but the search goes on.

We decided to have Korean food on 08/10/2014, stopped by this restaurant. The restaurant was empty, it was about 3pm. We were promptly seated, and chose our dishes — BBQ thin sliced duck and BBQ thick sliced pork. It started nice — they brought lots of starters, and started in-table grille. But in a few minutes they shut off the in table grille, and brought a little appliance-like thing to cook our meal. Ordered duck appeared to be chicken, and ordered thick-sliced pork ended up being thin-sliced — totally different from what we have ordered. I had to convince the staff that I am perfectly aware what duck tastes like. When you order one thing and they serve another without even asking if the substitute is acceptable — that is a turn off. The check was correct, according to what they brought. Overall experience was just okay. But I will not go back.

Stopped by earlier for lunch with my mom. Its a fast paced environment and the staff is so friendly and attentive. I love that the menu has three languages(Korean, English, and Chinese). Lunch Special: Galbitang(beef short rib soup) and Galbi Dolpan Bibimap in the Stone Plate Bibimap section of the menu The beef short rib was tender and the meat was easily cut down by one of the servers. I tried a little bit of the soup and it was quite bland so I was asked for soy sauce and the server mixed a dipping sauce consisted of hot sauce, soy sauce and white sesames for the beef short ribs. Mrs. Chung was very attentive and she mixed in hot sauce particular for stone plate rice dishes. I love the crispy, burnt rice that was stuck to the stone plate. Definitely will come by in the future for lunch or dinner!

pretty damn good! I used to come here all the time before they changed owners, the new owners haven’t changed the décor one bit, but the vibe is completely different. Ate here with my family and most of the tables consisted of very large groups and bbq grills were grillingup delicious meat on almost every table. the signature«shinjung galbi» is marinated diced beef cubes and I was told it had to be cooked in the kitchen, so we didn’t end up ordering it cause we wanted to grill the other cuts of meat on the table. We ended up getting galbi and chadol and the portions were huge! The amount they give you is twice as much as other restaurants for the same price. The meat itself was of very high quality and everything was absolutely delicious. Also got the cold noodle(bibim nangmyeon) and that was delicious as well, not too spicy and just the right amount of chew to the noodle. We got a tofu soup with beef intestine and that was delicious too, everything was very high quality and spiced perfectly. My favorite part of the meal was the kimchi! They make it fresh and it’s not the super fermented sour kind, can’t wait to go back!

The restaurant formerly known as Nam O Jung( ) To be absolutely honest, I was absolutely skeptical about coming here. The overall experience at this no-frills Korean BBQ restaurant was great and the risk paid off. I know, I initially gave this place a whopping 5 stars but after some time of pondering I brought it to a reasonable 4. Having only been here once, it was hard for me to let that 5-star go: was it so wonderful because it’s «new?» Or maybe it’s because we were led here by a Korean-speaking foodie? In any case, I would need a repeat performance before I hand Shinjung a 5. I dined here as part of a pretty large lunch group. We were quickly greeted by the homey yet professional staff to our table where we indulged ourselves in OB and ginseng-infused shoju.(YUM) The décor was… okay(and apparently unchanged from its previous life as Nam O Jung). The placement of the mirror in the men’s room was a little awkward. But hey, I’m here for BBQ, right? Our fare included haemul modeum jjim — the spicy seafood stew(which easily feeds 10) as well as, for the name sake, galbi. The stew was beautifully prepared and to die for. This was the same for the meat which was prepared over charcoal to a perfect medium goodness by the staff. The meal was accompanied, in usual fashion by, fresh and plentiful bonchon. They even gave us the prized(non-STD) crabs.(I’m sorry, I had to repeat the jokes from our table). I look forward to coming back.
