I read all of the reviews for this place before I dared to try central Wisconsin sushi. As a whole they were dead right. The food is high quality. That is the only reason they are worth the two star rating. Where can I start talking about the service… Very tough to put it into words. I guess the simplest way is to say that there really isn’t any. I sat and waited for five minutes and was asked by the sushi chef what food I wanted. So I ordered a roll… Then I flagged the«waitress» down(using that term VERY loosely) and ordered a drink… a Kirin and small hot Sake. I then had to wave for the sushi chef to order edamame as an appetizer. Really crazy shit! The Perfect Storm roll was the best roll I have ever had. No lie. Soft shell crab was the main ingredient but it had spicy mayo, unagi sauce, crunch and was topped with seaweed salad. Crazy good. I know, I was so mentally torn between the food and service my head is still spinning! Of course I had to wave someone down to get my check. I didn’t realize it until I left, but they were so unorganized they forgot to put the beer and Saki on my bill!!! Karma! If you eat here you need to check your service expectations at the door. If you can do that, you will enjoy the sushi I promise.

Le me start off by saying that I’ve had good experiences here in the past. The sushi is not great but decent and when it comes to sushi and Japanese food in general they are the only game in town. Like I said, in the past I’ve had decent experiences here, but this last time I was very disappointed. First off, service was terrible. In the past, the service was alright-not great but not bad either-but the other night it was just bad. For starters, we weren’t sure who our waitress was. It seems like we were tag teamed, yet whenever we needed or wanted something neither server was to be found. Both of them(including one of the owners) were polite enough, but ultimately didn’t seem to care too much about our service. One of the servers-I really hope that she was new– totally messed up my sushi order. She had to come back twice to ask me about things I ordered and then ordered me the sashimi versions of what I wanted, not the sushi version-for those not aware, sashimi is just the slices of fish, while sushi is the raw fish draped over rice. It wasn’t a huge deal as I like both but she just never got her act together. The sushi, this time was not up to par. First off, sushi/sashimi should be uniform and very thinly sliced. My slices were hack jobs, with nothing uniform and cut way too thickly. The eel(Unagi) which is a cooked sushi, was somewhat dried out and cut way too thickly. The salmon tasted a little old-didn’t have the bright, freshness of really high quality, fresh salmon and tasted a little too fishy-yes an odd complaint if you don’t know sushi, but if you do know sushi then you understand what I mean. Overall, I have enjoyed the place, in the past. It was nice that Fond du Lac has a place like this, even if it isn’t the best, but, at least, it was good. I’m not sure what has happened, but the place has gone downhill. I hope that they figure it out soon as I’d hate to have to stop patronizing this place.

the service is the worst I had ever seen! I guess the waitress might in her period, so she is in rush all the time! Will never come back again!

Both the hibachi and the sushi are always good. The food is always consistent and good! It’s a great place for both lunch and for dinner.

My wife and I are from San Diego and we’ve got our preferences when it comes to good sushi. This place is in an indiscreet location and looks very tiny but when you walk in it opens up to a large area that’s very clean and with plenty of space between tables. The service has been excellent, the Rolls have been great, the Sake is warm and so far it’s the best sushi we’ve had in Wisconsin. I can’t tell you how happy we are to have found this place so close to home. No pics because the rolls have disappeared in front of us.

The food is good, I do enjoy it. Although prices are on the higher scale. I have come here a considerable amount of times, and keep coming back because my family likes the habachi chicken, but I have to comment about the bad customer service. Everytime I have come in, the owner/waitress is rude. She has an attitude and makes the environment unfriendly. Today I called to order to go and because we couldn’t quite understand eachother she was yelling at me, and when we went to pick up our order she missed the fried rice(whole reason I placed the order) and wouldn’t add it. I’m disappointed. I wish she would be more friendly to her customers, and I would come in more often, but because of her attitude it cuts down how often my husband is willing to go.

I recently was in the area and I saw that this place had rave reviews so I decided to try it. It has been a long time since I had really good sushi, this was so worth the wait. I shared my table around the grill with a nice family who really enjoy this restaurant and they were very friendly as was the staff. I know I just wanted to order sushi, as I am not crazy about miso soup. I ordered a glass of wine and started with the Manhattan roll, which was delicious, spicy and very good. I then ordered the A1 Roll which was very tasty along with Unagi(sushi) and Hamachi which was really exceptional. It was so good I was thinking about coming back the next evening. The only possible improvement would be the wasabi was not as spicy as it normally is. I will definitely go back if I am in Fond du Lac.

Great sushi. Fresh. Clean. Lots to choose from. Options for those who don’t do sushi are good as well

The sushi here is good for being in Fond du Lac, however my 1 star rating is due to the bad service and the failure to create a pleasant dining atmosphere by the owners. Long story short, we left before ordering a meal. Long story below… I have been here several times and overlooked the rudeness from the waitress/owner who is always there. She acts like she’s doing you a favor by serving you. No thank you. Like I said, I have overlooked it because the food is decent but tonight was too much. It was not particularly busy, and we got seated at a dirty table, ignored for the standard amount of time(too long), then the icing on the cake was that they put their toddler in a high chair 3 feet behind me, gave him an iPhone and let him blast the cartoon episode of obnoxious music all the way turned up. It was irritating to even the people across the restaurant as they kept looking over, so you can only imagine how it was in close quarters. Not ideal or acceptable for a Saturday night out.

When moving to Fond Du Lac from Madison I was somewhat worried about restaurant choices. Fuji Yummy really good. The food is delicious. The presentation is very nice. The service has always been attentive and polite. The prices are what you would expect from a sushi restaurant.

TERRIBLE service. I went last year and the food and service was amazing! Friday night we paid $ 11 per plate to get tiny messy portions and the waitress was extremely rude. My friend also had diarrhea all day Saturday. We won’t be going back anytime soon.

I’ve come here probably 10+ times. And I’ve had some slight issues, but every time they admitted their mistake and tried to fix it to the best of their abilities. None the less they have great sushi and hibachi. I’ve never had a bad order :)

Considering it’s Fond du Lac, their sushi is pretty good. They have great lunch specials on sushi. the service is horrible every time I’ve been there — they just glare at you waiting for you to leave. Considering it’s the only place you can get sushi in FDL(and it’s only $ 9 for 3 rolls and miso during lunch), I’m willing to put up with their cranky wait staff

I’ve eaten at Fuji Yummy multiple times and have had sushi most visits, but have also had the Hibachi. The sushi is exceptional and I’ve never been dissappointed. It’s a quaint little restaurant… could be a little bigger. Service is always great. It’s a great find in FDL!

I’ve eaten here three times and have to say that it wasn’t bad for a Sushi place in Fond du Lac. As someone who has had Sushi from Milwaukee, Chicago, Twin Cities, to San Diego, I’m kind of picky about my Sushi. I haven’t had the hibachi. Also they have a small selection of Thai Food as well.(I also have not tried the Thai Menu items yet.) I don’t normally have high expectations for a combined/fusion Asian places. All in all, despite the lack of selection of specialty rolls, I have enjoyed the food so far. One Highlight for me is the Crab Salad. It was unique in that it had a spicy mayo mixed with the crab and cucumber. It was a nice twist to a traditional Kani Salad. Also, the cost was decent as well. Service when I’ve been there has been good to very good, even on busy nights.

Pretty delicious place. Had the Hibachi vegetable plate an it was great but nothing I haven’t had before. Great if you want a standard Japanese steakhouse. Next time(if there is one) I feel like I should be more adventurous and get some sushi.

Surprisingly good! Although you can’t have high expectations for sushi in Northern Wisconsin I was impressed.
