We tried this place for the first and it had very good food. It’s not the fancy Mexican restaurant most people are looking for, but the food is authentic and good. The salsa taste fresh and actually has a little bite to it. The service was ok only.

Try the burrito Mazatlan, it is amazing. The owners are very nice. The food is authentic and the atmosphere is great.

The food was good here. It wasn’t AMAZING or the best I’ve ever had, but pretty consistent with what is typical at most Mexican restaurants. The waitress was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere seemed pretty colorful and authentic. I wish they added guacamole and sour cream in more of their meals, but that was easily added as a side order. Guacamole was good, salsa was good, chips didn’t taste homemade though. Portion sizes were very generous, especially the kids meals. One meal could have filled both of my small kids. I recommended the place if you’re in downtown FDL.

Before moving to Fond du lac, Wisconsin, I was spoiled not only by the authenticity of delicious Mexican food made in the family kitchen(when I say family kitchen I mean a kitchen where 12 – 30 members of my great grandmothers lovely production of 16 children and all their spouses, children, boyfriends, girlfriends, and of course the friends close enough to be family circulate) by the people I loved. My best memory is smell of tomatillos and jalapeños roasting on the comal. Time spent in the kitchen is time spent in Love. Eventually, my sister, mother, father and I relocated to FDL. We explored the few Mexican restaurants, giving each at least a couple of visits. Mazatlan quickly became our best substitute family kitchen(only, no dishes involved!). For me, the fact that they served menudo sealed the deal. Many Mexican restaurants in this area have come and gone, but Mazatlan has held its roots, and not by mistake. The staff, which has remained the same for years and I love that, is super talented at rocking out a full house, as if the complimentary chips and actually spicy salsa(they’ll mild it down for you non-fire-breathers) weren’t already enough to keep you happy. *Side note: their salsa verde rocks too! The dishes are consistent, authentic, always hot, well-sized(you KNOW you’re going home with leftovers), and simply… The best Mexican dishes around town. The staff is so pleasant and so great at what they do. I’ll continue to go to Mazatlan any time I’m craving some Mexican food and not feelin’ the disarray of the kitchen. Also, BESTMICHELADAEVER!(Mexican beer and tomato juice with lovely spices & sauces–«Bloody beer») Everybody loves Mexican food, right?! Cheers!

Simply prepared Mexican food with modest proportions. Can’t beat the prices. Quick and friendly service.

Mazatlan is the best Mexican restaurant in Fond du Lac. Service is always great and given its size, you never have a long wait for a table, even during peak hours. I’m partial to the fish tacos: a braised white fish with onions and cilantro and the optional tomatillo sauce(be sure to ask for it). No cheese, no sour cream, just three honest tacos, Mexican street-food style. The prices are very reasonable, by the way. My family and I eat here at least twice a month.

Average at best. There was nothing at this establishment to put it above normal Mexican food. The price was pretty much right where you would want it to be.

We come her an average of 3 times month. Free chips and salsa and super yummy mexican food. My husband loves chorri pollo and fajitias and I love the shrimp tacos with salsa verde and pollo a la diabla. So good! This place is also great for kids as usually the food comes quickly. Servers are nice and polite. Clean. This is the place we eat at the most in Fond du Lac.

This review is concerning takeout. My favorite Mexican in FDL. Well put together and plenty of good food for a good price. Flautas are my go to favorite.

My carnitas arrived totally unseasoned and reheated to slightly warm in the middle. Totally grey with no color from braising. Yuck. My wife said her fajita was just fine, and no complaints about the other food on the plate.

Just barely OK. Tex-Mex which I normally like. Chori Pollo — chicken was DRYDRYDRY. Chorizo was«funky» flavored — not bad, but just did not have the richness you would expect. Salsa tasted like it was from a jar. White cheese sauce was pretty good. I may come back and try something different.

This is only one of 3 or 4 Mexican restaurants in the FDL area, but so far is the best one yet(Sombereros is a joke). The sound of traditional mexican music, brightly decorated dining area, and giant menus with pictures of the dishes means you are in an authentic mexican restaurant. Speedy service, plenty of chips and salsa, reasonable prices and good food… that’s all we as Americans ask in a Mexican Restaurant… then why is it seem so hard to find in Central Wisconsin? We tried out Mazatlan hoping to find those qualities that keep us returning to a restaurant. It was about 8pm when we arrived and there was a couple of other tables there. As far as we could tell there was only one waiter on staff there that night. But unlike other restaurants in the area, you never felt as tho you were in need of a refill or want for anything. The salsa was just ok. More of a purée type salsa you get from a jar of tostitos salsa than a fresh chunky salsa. It is a bit spicy, but if you ask for a more milder salsa they are more than happy to oblige. Our chicken dishes were ok as well, her chicken was dry, but the rice was cooked perfectly. A splash of our white queso dip with salsa helped moisten up her chicken, but was still not a huge improvement. Our bill was $ 24 for a dinner for two which was just about what we expected. Not the best Mexican food I have had, but a little above par for the area it seems.

Food is very good at good prices. They have catered for me many times in the past and have been great! Hard to phone in order however unless you get someone that speaks good english.

Things have gone downhill a touch since last year. My go-to Mexican place is now little more than a middle of the road joint with bland offerings and an occasional peppermint wrapper in the salsa(no joke). I’m kinda bummed that they’ve dropped the ball, but I’ll have to try the other Mexican place to see if my tastes have changed or if it’s just this place.
