Only place in town that I know serves Lamb and goat all week long. The prices are great, the food is really good. Only issue is that they should have more condiments, other than that, this place

I loved the food. But sadly, not much to sit in to eat there. I assume, Yogurtland next door, minds if people sit there to eat the food. But non the less, not bad.

The food is good. We order barbacoa. Don’t order a burrito or tacos not worth it just order the meal you are eating the same thing except in a flour tortilla. The food like I said it’s good if you don’t want to deal with the lady taking the orders just take it to go. I would give the place a 4 or 5 star but since the lady was so rude I’m giving a 2. Really bad service and attitude. Still thinking if I want to go back or just look for another place. I heard about birrieria Guadalajara maybe going there next time.

I’m from LA was visiting family and had a craving for food not sure what to eat. Shout to Unilocal for helping me get this rare antojito Mexicano. Omg so I drove all over and couldn’t find it because it’s a hole in the wall. FYI it’s literally across the lot from King taco. It’s just a basic food stand with seating for less than 20. Menu is straight forward a few delicious items. Small salsa bar and it’s cash only. The food was delicious wow it blew my mind I’m impressed and I will be back omg so good.

We went Sunday around noon and there was a long line waiting, but that showed to us that food was good .it was our first time and didn’t disappoint us. i asked for the lamb meal and my husband for goat. both were really good and the home made tortillas were absolutely delicious. we are planning on buying more birria this coming Saturday to celebrate an anniversary .don’t mind the seating.

I give them 3.5 stars. The beef barbacoa was extremely tender but bland. I heard great things about barbacoa and I expected flavorful meat but I was disappointed. My partner had to add salt to her goat barbacoa. However, the rice and corn tortillas were amazing! The rice was packed with flavor and the corn tortillas were thick and chewy. Even after being placed in the fridge and reheated on a skillet hours later, it still remained delicious and chewy. Though the meat I tried was tasteless, I would return because when combined with the salsa, cilantro, rice, and beans, it tasted amazing.

Best birria in town! we come every weekend in the morning for the fresh homemade tortillas! Seating sucks but it’s a little hole in the wall!

Simple menu, authentic Mexican food. This place may not look like much but don’t judge a book by its cover! Absolutely delicious food made the traditional way. If you want real Mexican food, give this place a try. It’s quickly become my and the hubby’s favorite for tacos de birria and barbacoa. If you are about the looks and not the taste then be on your way.

This place is definitely a hole in the wall gem. Their birria is delicious and so is the Barbocoa. Its not a place where you hang out because it’s so tiny an so many people come. But you can usually snag a table by the time you et your food.

A must try if you enjoy birria. It is a small location, but always busy with customers.

When we want birria, good birria, we go to a clandestine spot. Today, that spot had a ridiculous wait so we asked our friends & they pointed us to Mezquital. We are glad they did! I can’t recommend the clandestine place to you, but you have to come to Mezquital if you want authentic birria de chivo(goat). Like: Birria de chivo — birria de chivo must have have a strong pungent smell but one that you don’t taste. Consome(broth) — Order it with garbanzo! Ridiculous! Tortillas — Hand made corn… chewy! You can come just for the tortillas! Salsa — If you have low tolerance, do not have(or have little) the one one the upper right corner. Their salsas are so good that they have a sign admonishing people not to bring their own containers! Price — My wife & I ate for $ 10.80! Wish: Shorter wait! We came on a Sunday just before noon. More space — It looks like they’ve outgrown themselves. They have tables outside that look like they shouldn’t be there. The only reason this place doesn’t have more reviews is because the customers are traditional, more conservative Latinos that, statistically, don’t get online a lot much less Unilocal. If you want authentic birria w/an authentic experience come to Mezquital. The only reason we gave it a 4 is because of the wait & it feels tight… but don’t we go to restaurants for the food? They get a 5 for that!

Birria is very good plus they have hand made tortillas! But they charge $ 1.75 to use your debit card!

Strip mall hole in the wall with room only for about 12 people at the most. And with only two employees there to take orders and serve it can get crowded. They serve only birria and barbacoa(Mexican stew) of beef, lamb, or goat. Nothing else. They serve it in tacos, plates with no juice or with juice(consome). For people not used to goat or lamb you can order the beef and taste this Mexican stew. Just make sure you add the condiments that pair with this like raw onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lemon. On their dishes they give you about 5 corn tortillas but unfortunately they don’t have hand made corn tortillas on week days only weekends(booooo!). That is a big 1 whole star deduction. The stew is okay had better but I am still debating if I will return, the real deal breaker in the non hand made corn tortillas.

Birria de chivo(goat) is so superior to beef or other meat, that it is impossible to compare this restaurant to any other local establishments. Mezquital is the gold standard.

Overall it’s a pretty damn amazing place. Awesome birria, great borrego, and the best conzome! Their salsas are sooo good but extremely spicy, so be careful a little goes a long way. Very reasonable prices. Must try place overall.

Really good food here. They only specialize in two types of meat though, goat or sheep. They serve them as tacos, quesadillas, or in soup. Highly recommend this place!

In my opinion one of few places in Fontana worth drawing your attention to, specially if your down with eating goat and sheep cause that’s all they do. Birria and barbacoa cooked in a hole in some goat farm near by is how they put it. That hole cooking comes through with a different flavor in comparison to other birrierias around and to me that is way better, dare I say even better than the veteran Birrieria Guadalajara on Mt. Vernon. Tacos, plates they serve it either way and they make their own tortillas on the weekends. Now the hot sauces I have only seen them as staple sauces in central mexico which makes them an awesome rare find. The only detail that keeps me from going 5 stars is that I always get small bits of bone in the meat, which is pretty normal in my birria eating experience, but at most other birrierias that’s an ingredient they make sure is skipped.
