La Casa Salsa

Chips & salsa are really good. I ordered the gordo burrito. It was massive!!! The pork was tasty, but I had a bite of my husband’s shredded beef enchilada and I like it better. Rice & beans are also good. The service was fast but not overly friendly. We walked in 25 minutes before closing though, and I’m sure they wanted out of there. Not much on atmosphere.

We were very happy with food. Chip and salsa was great. Service acceptable. We will return.

I had a delicious meal here. The service was prompt. Not over friendly, but always near by. I didn’t find them rude by any means.
The salsa with the chips was good. It had a nice hint of heat without being overbearing and a nice tomato flavor. I ordered the chili verde. Nice chunks of pork tips that were tender and had a food sear to them. The verde tasted of tomatillos and, again, a nice spice/​bite. The Negra Modelo was cold.
I’d go back again. Sure it’s not a fancy restaurant, but the food is really good.

I don’t know what happened to this place, but I was not impressed. The margarita was awful and the food not much better. The salsa was watered down and when I asked if they had something hotter they brought out a bowl of salsa heated up in the microwave!

Ate there on Sunday. There were 3 tiles in the ceiling missing because the roof was leaking. Service was very slow. Out of toilet paper and paper towels both in the bathroom. Food was good but I spent the next 18 hours very close to a restroom. Will not be returning again.

Standard Mexican food. Delicious tomatillo sauce. World’s strongest margarita. Tasted like a shot of tequila with a hint of strawberry.

I keep coming back here cause its the only place in Ft. Madison that has Mexican Food, but as my previous review noted, the food is bland. I learned a secret though — be sure to request the green salsa. It has sufficient kick to make their regular dishes less boring.
I discovered one item on the menu that I can say I really liked; hence, the update from 1 star to 2. Order the Burrito Loco with cheese on top. Then drizzle some of the green salsa over the top, and YUM! If you want more kick, I suggest bringing your favorite hot sauce.
The service tonight was horrible. Maybe it was because they were short staffed. but the server seemed to be quite annoyed and put out that he had to be a server. He was very impatient & abrupt with us, and we weren’t sure he understood what we wanted cause he didn’t acknowledge anyone’s order to confirm. We also had to ask for silverware after the meal had arrived — for which there was another delay — while the food got cold.
