I love this patio! The fire cracker shrimp is a sweet tangy sauce similar to the pei Wei special sauce. The French toast is a huge portion and stuffed lush and warm cushioned dough. The friend green tomato sandwich is also a great choice for all the veggie foodies out there. It’s almost destitute from healthy but well worth an extra mile run

I had the pleasure of working with Samantha to plan an event at Monty’s Corner. They were very accommodating and the staff was attentive and friendly. I had a bottomless mimosa(always a good idea) and the hangover tacos. I mean you really can’t get better than that.

Really disappointed with this dining experience. First clue should have been how completely empty the restaurant was on a Saturday night. Service — our server left a lot to be desired with his lukewarm attitude. But the biggest disappointment was the meal. I ordered the salmon and it was terrible. Instead of red it was beige. We finally figured that it must have been frozen and quickly defrosted when I ordered it. I don’t know if I can get past that.

Month’s Corner is located at the backside of Montgomery Plaza in Downtown Ft Worth and took the place of the old Mac’s. Since there will always be a place in my heart for Mac’s considering I grew up on the one in Arlington, I was hoping that the establishment that took its place would not disappoint. When we walked in for our 7:45 reservation there were multiple tables available which worried me considering the restaurant is located in such a popular area, but I thought that possibly people wore themselves out at the TCU game earlier in the day and didn’t feel like going out for a good meal. The service all night was excellent. The waitress was consistent and met our every need and we were spoken to by two of the restaurant managers. We began with the MC chopped salad which contained a large plate of mixed greens combined with blue cheese crumbles, golden raisins, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The salad was dressed with a sweet poppy dressing that matched perfectly with the contents of the salad. The disappointing part was that there was supposed to be jicama in the salad which would have added a nice texture transition, but it was nowhere to be found. I ordered the special which was the Pork Osobuco. The pork came on the bone amongst a portion of mushroom risotto. When I have had this dish in the past at other restaurants the pork was always drenched in sauce, but this piece of meat was the star of the plate. It had an excellent crust that added a crispy texture to each bite and was moist all the way down to the bone. The sauce on the risotto was sporadic which left portions drier than others, but it complemented the pork well. My wife ordered the short ribs with Gouda grits. The short ribs were cooked perfectly and teamed up well with the grits. In our opinion, the barbecue sauce that topped the meat was too sweet and needed more acidity, but it didn’t ruin the dish. The food at Monty’s Corner and the service was well above average and usually would get five stars from me. The 4 stars are a result of a couple things that I would watch out for of I was going to dinner there again. The short ribs came with another side, and my wife asked for green beans because their vegetable options were those or collard greens. Since the waitress said the greens had some spice to them my wife asked for the green beans but was told they were out. They didn’t have any other vegetable option. This is not a good thing if you are hoping to keep customers who want a balanced dinner. My wife then opted for the garlic mashed potatoes which tasted off, so since third times a charm, she chose the Mac and Cheese. The Gouda was prominent in the dish, but it should not take three tries to get a side you enjoy. The other reason for the four stars is the menu options. If I went back, there is nothing else on the menu that grabbed my attention. I can roast a chicken or cook salmon at home. I want something that is different and not the normal dishes you could find at any restaurant. The manager said that their menu will be changing for the fall season, and it sounded like it was gong to improve, but if the summer is going to consist of the menu currently being served, then I am not going out of my way to check out Monty’s during the hot months.

I had to check this place out after we had samples of osso buco at the Unilocal party. Bad news they did not have it on the menu yet. The Manager said they had some deliver mishap. So they will have it later on in the week. So we stayed anyway and tried some other food. First we had an appetizer goat cheese fondant. it was ok served with hard toast. Not worth 10 dollars. Salad would have been better. Then I got the BBQ short ribs on grits. This was a very good tender great BBQ sauce sweet and tasty. My partner got the chicken fired steak it was good but we have had better like at Babes. It came with corn and mashed potato’s. It was a little over priced. The wine and beer prices are set at a good price. And they have a nice bar with a large TV. Good place to hang out. When your at Montgomery plaza. Over all we will go back to try the osso buco later. That is if they stay open. The place was dead on Friday night around 730pm. Do not know why the place has a nice atmosphere good service good food. Just a little on the pricey side. But they are trying to be up scale so I get it. As for the 4 stars I giving them a chance They have potential. Just need to get some business to stay open.

There is a new restaurant in the historic Montgomery Plaza! The cuisine is their twist on American classics like fried chicken, pizzas, and burgers. The fried chicken is a family favorite in my house and is delivered floating in mac –n– cheese and sriracha butter and is too good to pass up. I also really enjoy their crab cakes and salads and can’t wait to get back for their happy hour pizza specials. But this weekend I ventured in to try brunch and I think that might be my favorite meal at Monty’s! We ordered mimosas(a great big portion for 6 $) to start and they also came out with the house biscuits, which were homemade accompanied with jelly and butter. The biscuits were perfectly flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. We decided to split the monster platter to try a bit of everything and then order the gouda grits as a side. The monster plate came with an incredible portion of eggs, pigs candy, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. It was a delightful mix! The pigs candy is thick bacon coated in brown sugar. I’m not sure who wouldn’t love that?! The biscuits and gravy were not the traditional gravy, it was a brown gravy and it had great flavor. The side of gouda grits was a generous bowl of heavenly grits thick with cheese oozing through out! I was incredibly thankful for the split. The monster plate is exactly that, monstrous! The service was fast and our waitress answered all of our questions and gave us her tips for her favorites. I can’t wait to go back and try more brunch items, the bbq ribs benedict sounded amazing!

My boss brought me to Monty’s for lunch based on an article in the paper. I was surprised how empty it was at 12:30 on a Tuesday. We were greeted nicely, given a table by the window, given menus and our waiter was there quickly… maybe because there were maybe 20 people in the entire restaurant. I ordered Fish Taco’s and my boss ordered the Trout. She seemed to really enjoy her trout. If I’d been with my husband or friends I may have asked for a taste but didn’t think it would be proper to ask her if we could switch plates! I can’t say the same for the Taco’s. I should have known better. The fish was very good however, the corn tortillas were cold and too crunchy. The lettuce was romaine lettuce cut like it was prepped for a cesar salad. There was a little bit of tomato and onion but that was it… I didn’t see any pico de gallo in my taco. The beans… I can’t even describe them. Pork and Beans dressed up to be Ranchero Style? I don’t know but I didn’t eat them. This was my first lunch with my boss and we were there for business other wise… my dish would have been returned. I’ve read the other reviews so I’ll give it another chance and hopefully it won’t disappoint like it did this afternoon.

This would probably break into the 4 Star category on a return trip should the service be better. Otherwise, tonight’s experience was simply OK… This experience only receives a 3-star review because the food was good, but the service REALLY, REALLY hurt the experience. Walking through the plaza entry doors, I found myself at the hostess stand contemplating the dining room to my left, or the bar to my right. As it was only me on my day off, I chose the road less traveled… to my right… and a seat at the bar. This may be the one time that it was certainly the wrong choice. There was a 10 minute space between seating and even having a water dropped off. I would understand if it was busy, but there were only two other people at the bar top and a table of three in the lounge. Suffice to say, my presence was relatively neglected. After maybe five or a couple more minutes, the hostess actually brought me the menu instead of the hard to locate bartender(who in the end never made an effort to introduce himself). Eventually, the bartender greeted my and immediately apologized for taking so long to so so. For me, that means I ways acknowledged at some point, but neglected on reason. Any way, I was able to order a beet and watercress salad, and a glass of Firestone & Robertson whiskey on the rocks. Not a bad start… once the whiskey eventually arrived. In the course of the meal, I was never offered a second whiskey and had to make my glass of water count since it never got refilled… As for my salad, it was relatively delicious… Once I had to reach over the end of the bar and get my own silverware that, yeah, was actually rolled up in a napkin with something encrusted on it. The only thing that would have made it better was a bit more goat cheese to add the needed saltiness, and apparently, the salad I got was different because it usually has golden beets, but mine was red beets. I was told that the kitchen«must have run out.» Its hard to say that the beets weren’t fresh, but it did have a brief sense of tin/aluminum can and a lack of freshness to the beets. Not going to say they were canned, but everything in my culinary career says they were. Moving on… I finished my salad and pushed the plate to the edge of the bar to be removed, but it wasn’t until the entrée was delivered by yet another person. I settled upon the fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, and sriracha butter for my entrée, only because the ‘better’ cuts of spare ribs were already spoken for during the evening(according to my bartender). The macaroni was flavorful but a little soupy, the chicken was only fried after being quartered and cleaned, which gave a professional approach to the finished product and presentation, and the sriracha butter was, well, lost on the plate in the form of an oily red smear on the edge of the plate. The juiciness of the chicken couldn’t be denied, nor could the flavor of the macaroni, but while answering a text message after only two bites of macaroni, some third party arrived to ask if I was ready to have it boxed up to go?! Yeah, bartender totally out of touch… The flavor was decent and I finished the entrée, but for the price, I’ve experienced better and more professional. The menu is good, don’t get me wrong. The flavors were clean on the salad and muddled on the entrée, but the service could have been better… EASILY. Not the best I’ve had in a long while– but I’d come back for the food because it hearkened me back to my southern American roots for clean, homely food. I’ll give them another chance for sure, but it will be in the dinning room to guarantee that the service is focused instead of the neglect I experienced.

EDIT: I recently drove by Monty’s and saw some renovations going on inside. I haven’t any insight into what’s going on for that space, but a big bummer. I really enjoyed that place. ________________________________ I’m usually a late-time luncher, so when you find a place where the staff is friendly and accomodating in the«twixt hours» of lunch and dinner, it finds a permanent spot in my go-to list. Especially when the fried green tomatoes are DELICIOUS! After visiting Monty’s corner a handful of times for lunch, I’ve come to appreciate the simple offerings. Do not read«simple» as «dull,» but more«unpretentious and approachable.» And to quote my beloved Economics professor from however may years ago, «Simple does not mean easy!» It’s not always easy to prepare something perfectly, no matter how«simple» it may be. The salads are fun and fresh, the sandwiches assembled with care, and I drool over the appetizers. Once again… FRIEDGREENTOMATOES! I have yet to visit here for dinner, but I have high hopes for this new establishment.

A girlfriend and I went over to meet up with a group of friends and we had an awesome experience at Monty’s Corner. I am a vegan, so eating out consists of a side salad and raw veggies, which gets boring. But, after letting my waiter know I was vegan, he quickly pointed out options and ways the chef could modify dishes for me. I chowed down on fried green tomatoes, minus the side dip. The Monty’s Chopped salad minus the blue cheese was yummy! But, the Potato Gnocchi made vegan was awesome, everyone at the table ate off my plate as it was a huge hit!!! I will be going back soon for more good food and great wine! Thanks for making it easy for a picky vegan like me to enjoy a night out with friends!

We were in the neighborhood after stopping by several Irish pubs to celebrate St. Patty’s day, and in the mood for something tasty and substantial. I’d never heard of Monty’s Corner(this new restaurant must have opened in the Montgomery Ward Plaza of restaurants with little fanfare), but we found it while browsing nearby restaurants on the iphone Unilocal app and walked right over. We stopped by Monty’s Corner at about 7:15 on a Saturday, and the restaurant was only half full(I expected a much bigger crowd considering the long wait we often experience at nearby Gloria’s). I was immediately struck by the clean and chic design of the restaurant, but it wasn’t anything that I haven’t seen before at other restaurants in the area. We were seated promptly, and our friendly waiter brought us water and fresh-baked bread with sweet butter(delicious!). After scanning the menu, and referring to Unilocal reviews, we decided to start off with the fire cracker shrimp($ 9). Even though it was dinner time, fiancé ordered the Pick-up Mary($ 8…their version of a bloody mary – what can I say, we love them at any time of the day). For our entrée’s, I ordered the Atlantic Salmon($ 19) and fiancé went with the gnocchi($ 16). Our shrimp arrived within 5 minutes, and the entrees followed soon after. No sign of the Pick-up Mary. In fact, the drink didn’t arrive until we were finished with our entrees! Given the fact that the restaurant was only half full, it didn’t make sense that we had an MIA water and drink. Despite not getting our Pick-up Mary until the end of our meal(after checking in with two passing waiters about it), our food was good, although not mind blowing. I enjoyed the fire cracker shrimp, although it was on the super sweet side. My salmon was tasty but the real star was the accompanying side of asparagus, mushroom and tomato – simple and really delicious. Fiancé’s gnocchi was tasty too, and it also had asparagus and mushrooms in it – I think they’ve just figured these two veggies out at Monty’s Corner! It’s not a huge deal to me that the waiter forgot about our drink, but I was hoping it might be free since it arrived so late(I’m too nice to suggest that to a waiter – I expect they’ll do that themselves… I’m naïve). The food was tasty, but I’m not dying for more of it. I think this is a great restaurant for decent American(New), with some decent prices(and several entrees around the $ 20-$ 30 price range). I don’t think I’ll crave Monty’s Corner(I’ll say it now, and I’ll say it again – my favorite American cuisine in Cowtown is Lucile’s Stateside Bistro – delicious, reasonably priced, and absolutely unassuming in its décor and general dining experience), but if you’re in the Montgomery Ward Plaza it might make sense for you to stop by.

Went to Monty’s Corner tonight with some friends and I have fallen in love! Not only is the vibe and décor super cool, and not only was the service top notch. the food is incredible. Not even kidding. I love this place. For starters, we ordered the firecracker shrimp and the fried green tomatoes. Absolutely delicious. I would say this is the best fried green tomatoes that I have ever had. And the firecracker shrimp is so unique and the sauce is to die for! We then ordered the salmon and it melted in my mouth. I know I want to try all the other fun stuff on the menu, but it is going to be hard not to order the salmon now every time. So unbelievably fresh! And the mac n cheese really is a must! And we all shared a couple of desserts which were out of this world. Loved the lemonade pie and the build your own brownie sundae! I can’t wait to go back. This is already on my favorite list of places to eat.

My husband and I were excited to try Monty’s Corner for date night, but left disenchanted. Walking in, we both commented on the décor — elegant, great music, diverse crowd. Everything on the menu looked thoughtfully chosen and it was hard to make a decision about what to try; we were even talking about coming back another time to try more things from the eclectic list. The waiter came to our table, left drinks and bread, told us the specials, then disappeared without asking if we had questions or wanted to order. We were on a bit of a time constraint, as we had movie tickets later in the evening and the waiter was gone so long that we seriously considered leaving since we couldn’t catch anyone else’s attention, either. When he finally returned, we explained our situation and the service got considerably speedier. We shared the coconut curry mussels appetizer, which was perfectly cooked and quite delicious, but the waiter missed bringing a bowl for shells. Thankfully, someone else dropped one off shortly, but it was an odd gaff for such a seemingly nice restaurant. Both of our dinners were surprisingly disappointing. My husband’s chicken fried steak was tasty, but the breading wasn’t crispy and didn’t stick to the meat, giving it an odd texture and a sloppy appearance. My French onion soup came without a spoon and I had to wait until our drinks were refilled several minutes later to ask for one. Once I got a spoon, I discovered that the soup was completely inedible — it tasted like room temperature water with onions in it. Initially I’d looked forward to trying the Meyer lemon cake, but after the service issues and the less-than-exciting food, we decided to cut our losses and head out. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience.

Had a lovely«date night» with my hubby at the newly opened Monty’s Corner. We opted for dining at the bar and chatting up the bartender who poured me some fantastic red wine. We started with the quail appetizer. Amazing! I’m such a sucker for quail so I was super excited to see it on the menu. For dinner, I ordered the salmon with asparagus and tomato. It was a perfectly cooked and satisfying meal without being too heavy. On this visit in, we skipped dessert and decided to drink our calories in another glass of wine :) The ambiance is upscale without being pretentious. The staff is super welcoming and made us feel right at home. I look forward to more visits here.

I went to Monty’s Corner on opening week. There was a limited menu during opening week but I have heard they have now expanded the menu. Our table had a few appetizers: Quail and Firecracker Shrimp. Both appetizers were excellent. Also, the warm bread was perfect with the salad I had. For my main course I had the meatball appetizer. It was excellent! Overall, it was an excellent meal. The service was also very good. The atmosphere is upscale casual. Perfect for a family dinner or date. I highly recommend Monty’s!

They’re very eager to please at Monty’s Corner, the new and literally named restaurant and bar perched on the rear corner of Montgomery Plaza(natch). We bounced in here on Day Three, and from the moment we entered the staff was front and center. This place came together fast, as I had walked by just a couple of weeks ago when the construction was going fast and furious. It’s a striking layout on the inside, and we were definitely intrigued to pop over for a bite and some tasty libations. We decided to park it at the bar, best to get a sense of both what was going on there and how that would work for dinner: the top news is that dinner was quite good, from the honey BBQ quail that we started with(served with a side of slaw) to the roast chicken that served as my entrée. Tender, flavorful, with lots of meat on the bone. I chose to pair my dinner with a Brooklyn Brown — in general I don’t love brown ales(just my personal pecodillo), but rather enjoyed this one. In fact, that would be my one minor concern — most of the beer selection here come from major breweries(or subs of major breweries), and in general I save extra special thoughts for those restaurants that are as forward thinking with their beer selections as they are with their entrees. And Monty’s isn’t quite there on that front yet. That said, I did sample a couple of reds that I really thought were outstanding for the price. And I’d definitely try em again. If you’re eager for a new spot to try, Monty’s aims to please. My guess is that they’ll do just that more often than not.
