My husband and I booked a room on a spur of the moment trip. Excited for a night away, we left Baltimore, faced DC traffic, and were on our way to Fredericksburg when we received an email stating that our room was double booked and our reservation was cancelled. When I called to ask, I was told that this happens from time to time, but that there was nothing they could do. When I questioned them as to why they hadn’t resolved this in the past, the manager told me that it only happens about 2 times per year. Well, that should be 2 times too many. She essentially blamed me for the late booking. This has left a bad taste in my mouth. Be forewarned, if you book with them, have a back up plan.

My best friend got married here in fall of 2014 and it was lovely! It was a surprise wedding where guests thought they were just coming to a surprise engagement party but then jokes on them, it’s actually a wedding! Jackie was very helpful with everything, especially the menu! At the tasting we didn’t love everything so she came up with modified versions of arancini for us, and sliced apples with brie and Varnell wrapped in puff pastry! For the wedding we had heavy hors d’oeuvres being served all night, instead of a plated dinner or buffet, which turned out awesome! I didn’t love the seating arrangements outside for the ceremony and how we walked down and had to stand on stairs. Some guests couldn’t see the bride because we were blocking them, so that could be improved, i would say. The rooms were nice, a little creaky but still lovely! I wish they weren’t so pricey, but it is a historic location so it does make sense. Breakfast was great although i can’t remember what i had, and service was wonderful the whole weekend i was there! I recommend then to everyone!

We had our wedding at the kenmore, to include the ceremony. Working with Jacquie and her staff was a fun and enjoyable experience. We even had our dogs in the ceremony. The food and service were top notch. We are both very relaxed and laid back and wanted the same type of atmosphere for our wedding. Jacquie worked with us to coordinate the band, cupcakes, setup, flowers, and various food allergies, and the wine we wanted. We did most of the decorating which was fairly minimal, …once again the way we wanted it. Everyone at the wedding had a great time and the staff were more than accommodating to all our friends and family. They have a great wine selection We love the bar, with the copper ceiling even though it is very small. It has an old rustic vibe. Yes it is in the basement, and we feel it has a rustic elegance. The food is always on point. I recommend you go out of your comfort zone and try something new, you will not be disappointed. We went back for New Years eve, had a great time, and paid for it, for the next few days. Can’t wait to get back.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner there last year to celebrate our son’s engagement. Tried to possibly book a rehearsal dinner there, so stopped by when in town. They do not have event menus and required that I fill out a form — promising that the owner/chef would personally contact me. Never happened — even after I called to follow up twice. Guess they didn’t want nor need our 40 person dinner party! Very disappointing!!! A beautiful setting– in the lobby and the courtyard. What a waste of my time.

Very disappointing fare and the service was the worst. And on top of all of that they added a 20% gratuity for a party of two so my waiter got his 20% tip no matter how bad he was, and he was very bad. It’s time to stop giving the Kenmore in a second chance. It’s dinghy, run down and dirty. No one on the staff appears to care at all about the customers. Come on people stop throwing away ur money on this place.

I would run far and fast from this place. Especially DONOT trust them with anything at all for your wedding unless you want it to be a huge disappointment. My now husband and I used this place for both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding night. You would think that would treat us well on our wedding night after we spent all the money for our rehearsal dinner here, but instead they felt it was appropriate to give away the room we booked at least 6 months in advance and reassign us without even bothering to call and ask us. I showed up in my wedding dress on my wedding night to a room that was obviously a downgrade. Instead of a jacuzzi tub we received a shower.(A shower which drained very badly, I was standing in water up to my ankles while showering the entire time.) When we asked for our original room we were told it had already been given to someone else, we had to take this room. So, of course we complained, and they offered us a discount on the price, which I would have taken as compensation. However, they had lied and never actually cut the price, which I found out on my credit card bill. The obviously don’t care at all about their patrons or making good on any promises. It’s an extremely shady establishment.

We booked a room for two nights. After confirming the reservation, the Kenmore contacted me to cancel the second night«Because a wedding party wants all nine rooms». By this time the other desirable B and B’s were not available. Honorable people keep their word. These are not honorable people.

House was airy and clean with high ceilings. Reasonably appointed. No musty smell which is a concern with older properties. Bed was comfortable. The innkeeper when we arrived was rude; did not welcome us or say hello just asked for my credit card. Other employees were more gracious but seemed preoccupied. Great pub downstairs with live music on Thursdays. Breakfast was made with fresh produce and very good.

We have been here for dessert once and. Dinner the second time. This place is so beautiful and full of character. The service is fantastic and the food very good. We have come on Thursday nights for the music. Always a friendly crowd.

On my visit to the Kenmore, we ordered the pasta special of the day and the duck. The pasta was handmade served with crab and asparagus, and it was delicious! The duck had perfectly crispy skin and was cooked exactly medium rare. The wine we ordered(at the server’s recommendation) was outstanding and complimented the meal exquisitely. The atmosphere of the pub area is cloistered and feels very exclusive, arrayed with candles and with light music filtering through. The garden is lovely this spring! We would certainly return.

Where to start. No wine list, no beer list, no signature cocktails. Ordered the $ 13 cheese plate that consisted of an unreasonably large amount of Bleu cheese and dinner crackers out of a box, a few slices of bland cheddar, some salami, and pickles. In their defense, the pickles were really good. Definitely the highlight of the night. I ordered the filet medium rare, came out medium well. $ 27 steak and they can’t even cook it right. My wife had the duck breast ordered medium, came out well done, tough and greasy. If you don’t know how to properly sear a duck breast, please take it off your menu. Will not be returning. What a shame.

I recently have been here for drinks and live music. They have a beautiful outdoor patio, as well as a nice bar downstairs. It is a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy a cocktail.

I have dined at the restaurant inside of the Kenmore Inn, in Fredericksburg, VA twice for Easter brunch with my immediate family. Both times, I have liked the food, but was disappointed with the structuring of the buffets. For Easter of 2014, we had made reservations a week in advance, but were told to wait for about half an hour. Then once we were seated, the maitre’d told all thirty or so diners that the buffet was now served. This would have been fine, if the buffet had been larger, but instead all thirty of us had to wait in a long line for our meal. Then for Easter of 2015, our server told us to only go up to the buffet once, and to load our plates. I’m sorry, but I do not pay to eat in an upscale restaurant housed in an elegant historical building to be told to load up my plate like Homer Simpson. My mother complained about this ordeal to our waiter and the manager, and then we were told to eat how we pleased. While the scrambled eggs with herbs, and the pasta in Parmesan cheese sauce with asparagus were both delicious, the braised short ribs were fatty, and the restaurant ran out of their superior glazed pork. I suggest Kenmore learn to be more efficient, better organized, and better prepared for their buffets on major holidays. So far I have liked certain items enough, but feel the restaurant could be far better than it currently is.

The historical elegance promised by the Kenmore Inn is actually a dump! The website is very misleading. Do not stay here! This is by far the worst hotel or bed-and-breakfast that I have ever stayed at. I stayed here for one night in November 2014. Our tub was so rusty it could not be used. The shower head was very rusty too. The toilet was not clean and just gross. Our sink was so stopped up you could not even brush your teeth because it would over flow. Two male employees were in a big altercation yelling and cursing at each other. The situation was not under control so we left the Inn for several hours. We reserved a king size bed and got two twin size beds pushed together. It was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on a crack and not what we reserved. Our tv was smaller than a computer screen. Why bother! The Inn’s pipes were so loud that there was no getting any sleep! It sounded like someone taking a hammer and beating on the pipes all night. Terrible! There is no R and R at this place. We were up all night and felt like zombies the next morning. We stayed for one night and paid $ 172.52. I would not come back even if it was free. There was no manager there to talk to. Customer service was nonexistent. I want my money back. Oh and regarding the restaurant, we chose not to eat dinner there because of the employees fighting. However, Later that night we went to the restaurant for wine and dessert. The wine was ok– middle of the road at best. I ordered a brownie. It tasted like a $ 1.00 box mix dessert. It had a scoop of cherry ice cream on top that was good. The dinners people ordered sitting near our table did not look like what was presented on the website. People were complaining about their food. If staying in the area, I would recommend staying elsewhere and dining at Kybecca.

We had the filet mignon tonight. Amazing! One of the best cuts I’ve had I a long time! You know it’s good when you can cut it like butter with a butter knife… And the flavor, hats off to the chef! Now if I could just get the seafood pasta I’ve only had a chance to get there just once, now that’s heaven! Will def be back when ever I’m in the mood for a filet!!!

Several of us went for dinner and received good service from the wait staff, but terrible food. Fortunately, when we brought the food issues to our server’s attention, he was quick to discuss with a manager and discount the meal. Some issues were: 1. The flatbread came out cold and was slightly too salty too. Perhaps it waited(not under heat lamps) for the rest of the meal and got cold? 2. The Thai Beef Skewers didn’t taste anything like Thai or Asian flavors, they were dry and over-cooked and since there was no rice(which was the bed they were supposed to be served atop of), they were served on top of cold fries. The plating was not appealing, with several fries scattered about the plate. 3. The cream of asparagus soup had the very faint flavor of asparagus, but was too heavy on the rich cream. It wasn’t even green, it was white with a green tint and the flavor seemed to match that color. 4. The salads had lettuce that was not fresh. There were many wilted leaves of lettuce in our salads. 5. There was also a VERY strong odor of bleach in the restaurant. We mentioned that and it seems they were using bleach to clean out what they described as a worse, moldy smell. Overall it was a bad food experience. We stopped at Kybecca for smalls plates and drinks prior to coming here and had wished we stayed at Kybecca for dinner. We do appreciate their attempt to make it right, but for people like us who enjoy a nice dinner experience, we left very dissatisfied.

Very nice dinner as part of Fredericksburg Restaurant Week. Around the table the gazpacho was good, the crab profiterole was great, and the mussels were blah. Entrees of burger and fries, lamb and mashed potatoes, and flank steak with polenta were all enjoyed. The sides all shined. Attentive service! We’ll be back.

My husband & I had a very bad experience here! When we were seated we were the second party in the dining room. It took 45 minutes to get any food in front of us. My marquirita was the worst I have ever tasted. The French onion soup tasted like dish water, it looked like it too. Very weak & watery. My entrée’ came, but we waited another 15 minutes for my husband’s. Finally we had enough, we left without my husband getting any food. The waitress said it was her fault, she had forgot to put it in :(NEVERAGAIN !!

It has been awhile since I have eaten here. 100% turn around. — the appetizer — an amazingly light and well done calamari with a very nice red sauce. — Salad — nice fresh mixed greens very well dressed with the perfect amount of cheese. Main course — the filet was cooked amazing! The crab cakes were very tasty with very little filler! Everything on the table was well prepared from the above mentioned items to the pasta that was cooked perfectly al Dente. Kudos to Jackie! She has really turned this place around!
