My wife and I stopped in here on a recent trip to VA Beach. I had three sushi rolls. One of my best experiences, and I’ve eaten a lot of sushi. I don’t know what the difference was, but it was so good I actually complimented our server every time she came to the table to check on us. When we left we noticed that there are several Japanese steakhouses and sushi bars in this location. But we told each other that if we come back this way, we’re only eating here!

I give this place 3.5 stars. Came in for lunch and was given the regular menu, I had to ask for the buffet menu. Their way of a buffet is for you to mark what you want on a piece of paper rather than free roaming. By doing this you get fresh hot food but you have to finish what you order otherwise they’ll charge you extra. I don’t mind that concept, but it means u can’t eat as much because some of the orders consist of 6 pieces and they are huge pieces. * The fried vegetable goyza which has 4 pieces in an order was crispy but once it got to the middle it was soggy. * Hibachi fried rice was just fried rice with egg, very basic. * Miso soup was decent * Shrimp tempura was just OK, it was nice and hot but I could still taste the flour, kinda doughy. * Teriyaki chicken, meh just chicken with sauce on top. No flavor. * California rolls, it was good but it was too rolled too big, my hubby doesn’t eat that and I only wanted 2 pieces so I had to finish all 6 pieces. * Avocado and cucumber rolls were good but too big, so that’s 6 pieces as well that I had to gobble down. * Godzilla rolls, I wanted to try something new, big mistake. Don’t come here to try something new because you would need to finish it otherwise they’ll charge ya. And you might not like it. This roll was fried, yuck. Buffet made to order is a cool concept except you can’t sample a piece, u sample the entire order which leaves you no room for other things :(food is just meh, just OK… Nothing special or any wow factor. $ 19 per person.

A little pricey but absolutely delicious. Sushi there is just okay but the hibachi is ridiculously good. I like the filet hibachi the most, the meat is so tender! I’m not sure but it seems like they even homemake their sauces. They don’t skimp on the rice either!

It’s conveniently close to Mary Washington’s campus and to the highway, also located in a strip mall but don’t let it fool you. This place is great! We got sushi but their hibachi smelled AMAZING and their tempura batter is so crispy and very light. My friend raved about the Philly roll and my shrimp tempura was excellent. The spicy scallop and spicy tuna tasted and looked the same though. All our food came out in a really timely manner so if you’re coming for a lunch break, you’ll have plenty of time. The service is attentive but not overbearing which is nice. We’ll be back some day to try their All You Can Eat portion!

Stopped here to try something new. The food was pretty typical with nothing that stuck out. Prices were excellent. Certainly lower than many similar style Hibachi and Sushi restaurants. Service was great too. Would have given 5 stars if the food was a little better but I’d happily return.

Friends and I went to Kumo at 7pm on a Saturday evening. We were able to sit down immediately. We received great service and the food was delicious. I’ve been to many Hibachi restaurants and don’t need the show anymore. Prices we exceptional.

Yum! After reading the other reviews, I was anxious to finally try Kumo’s. They didn’t disappoint! The sushi was incredible, and so was the value! For me, a $ 20 all you can eat sushi deal is a steal. I had shumai dumplings, veggie tempura, the godzilla roll, spicy tuna, rainbow, sweet potato and Kumo roll and they were all awesome. Super fresh, delicious fish, and excellent quality food all around. The restaurant was smaller than I expected and has a warm, cozy atmosphere. They were packed, so the service being a little slow and frazzled was forgivable. I tried a similar sushi restaurant elsewhere and I’m now realizing I was too generous with my review on the first one. Kumo’s was waaaaay better! I’ll definitely be back!

We celebrated my husbands birthday yesterday at Kumo because of the great reviews. It was our first time there because we’re new to the area and we weren’t disappointed. I ordered the steak and shrimp habachi it was good. The portion size was filling and the price was perfect($ 12.50). My son order the kids shrimp habachi and it was enough food for him and the price was right($ 6.95). My husband ordered the all you can eat sushi for $ 19.99 and it was delicious. The all you can eat sushi is not your typical buffet where the food is left out, it’s all made fresh. You order from a paper menu the waitress gives you and they make it right then and there, it comes out quickly. That all you can eat menu also has rice, salad, soup, ice cream, fruit and more. With the all you can eat Sushi you have to finish all the food or else they will charge you for it! This place is the go to place for your sushi fix. It’s half the price of other habachi places.

I can’t believe I came for her the first time, yesterday! I’ve been missing out. Everything was so good. We ordered sashimi, a rainbow roll, agedashi tofu, and the fried oysters. Included was a soup or salad. The sashimi was so fresh! Really liked the atmosphere and the setup of the restaurant, it was very calming. I was really happy with the menu and all the choices! I think this is my new sushi spot in the Burg :)

Went for AYCE sushi with 2 friends. Place was clean and staff was friendly. Food was okay but one of my friends disliked the soup and we all though the spicy tuna in a couple rolls was off. Since we just went to Sushi King, we kind of knew what we were looking for. Not bad sushi but it didn’t really overwhelm me either. Might try again if in the area but wouldn’t make a special trip.

WOW! HIGHLY Recommend!!! What an amazing value and great Japanese food and great service. This is the best $ 22 you can spend in the are for the value… at any restaurant. We went in to this restaurant very hungry and decided to go the«All You Can Eat» route… and we were not disappointed. By the name of the restaurant I expected another one of those crappy Buffet style locations where everything was out and nothing was fresh. What I go was completely the opposite. They give you two different printed menus to mark and choose from one for the kitchen and one for the Sushi bar… they had great options and everything was fresh… made for you at that moment. The service was extremely attentive and helpful to the needs of the customer. I thought this place was amazing and will return any time I have the hankering for some great Japanese food.

We went here on a Tuesday for lunch to try out their AUCE Sushi for $ 19.99/pp… It ended up being a great deal for him, because he’d just finished a workout and was ravenous, but I didn’t find very many selections on the condensed menu which appealed to me… Had I ordered each item individually, I would have paid $ 4.50 more, so it really wasn’t that great of a deal. Service was great and items came out fast, so I may go again to try out other selections(Special Rolls, Lunch Bento, etc), but it wouldn’t be in my Top 3 for sushi in the area.

Great food, FAST service. I need to come here again. Around $ 7 can get you a bento box for lunch which a good amount of food and a GREAT deal! The tofu one is my favorite.

Wow the sushi is so good! We tried the Godzilla roll and that’s really good also. The hibachi food is awesome! Definitely worth coming in for a meal and will keep you coming back. Great service from our waitress and she even remembered us when we came back. I must say Kumos is our favorite now.

Best deal in the area. $ 20 all you can eat, and NOT a buffet! Sashimi is fresh, and the makis are generous! Small and easy to miss place, but definitely give it a try. You won’t regret it!

I can’t believe how great this place was. It is a hole in the wall spectacular place. At first I expected a buffet due to an advertisement stating $ 19.99 all you can eat sushi. We walked in and almost walked out. I am so glad we stayed. You ask for all you can eat and you get a sushi menu and a kitchen menu. You just keep ordering off the menus. Be careful though ensure you want what you take because they may charge if you waste too much. Yes we will be back. Awesome friendly service for anything you need and our drinks were never empty. Try this ace if you like sushi.

Kumo offers lunch specials with any two rolls for $ 7.5 or any three rolls for $ 10.50. My boyfriend decided to get spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail which tasted about the same to me, but they were good and pretty good size. I was a little sushi-ed out so I deiced to go for their chicken katsu bento box, which included rice, salad, 6 piece california roll, 2 gyoza and chicken katsu. Everything tasted pretty standard, nothing really to rave about. Lastly, I ordered their agedashi tofu and rather than the traditional cubes, I guess they decided to cut them in sticks. Either way the batter was not too heavy and provided the perfect, light crunch. Kumo also offer AYCE for $ 19.99 a person and includes a little bit of everything from their menu(refer to pictures below). Although Miso offers fresher sashimi, I will be visiting Kumo again because their prices are more affordable =P

Pretty decent sushi restaurant. Had the spicy girl roll which was very good. Also had the edamame-surpringly these were slightly overcooked and a bit mushy. Seaweed salad was good. Overall had a good experience and the service was very good.

I swear these guys behind this sushi bar are legendary sushi masters! I get The 20 $ all you can eat sushi dinner and I don’t know how they can stay in business giving me the best tasting fish and combinations of sushi. While some sushi I’m still learning what they are, each one Impresses me more than the next! Remember those packs of maybe 8 – 10 sushi for 12 $ — used to buy them at the grocery store in town(and they’ve been sitting about in the fridge) Mary Washington in eagle village is sitting on a gold mine of great tasting, beautifully presented, very nice people known as Kumo sushi. I’m pretty much a regular now, so I decided to share the wealth with my fellow fredericksburgers and anyone I bring into town for business. Spread the word, eat it up! I’m on a sushi high typing this! basic girls love sushi lol
