It is a hole in the wall place with decent tasting food. But they charge outrageous amount of money. $ 1 for single pani-puri, more than $ 5 for a paratha !! Are you kidding me? Considering that they serve in disposable plates, only accept cash and its a self-service joint. These prices doesn’t make sense. For me it is not a value for money.

This place is not hygienic. Both me and my wife fell sick with serious stomach upsets after eating here. I spent the complete next day throwing up after eating their pani puris. Strongly discourage folks from eating here!

Food tasted good… you can tell its homemade… But it was served in a very unappetizing manner! I just could not enjoy my food… Very high priced. I ordered ‘pani puri’ and ‘matar paneer’. Pani puri was served only with potatoes and tamarind sauce! Other places I have been in, it is served with four or six other sides!

Amazing! I love the pani Puri and chole bature. I am Mexican, but I love the Indian food. Best place to eat.

I’d give 3.5÷4 stars. Better chaat than most other bay area chat corners: we tried Papdi chaat, chhole puri, raj kachori, gobhi paratha. First 2 were really good; raj kachori was just a khasta kachori nothing special although its chutneys were the same as Papdi chaat(if u have tried actual good raj kachori eg Karol Bagh Delhi, this is a poor replica however passable).gobhi paratha didn’t seem to have any gobhi in it although size was very big and was ok with the dahi accompaniment(it was more like a big plain paratha).took 20 – 25 min for our order to arrive. place appeared clean and not chaotic so overall good experience.

This is the closest I can get to India style Pani Puri served to you! There’s a reason this establishment doesn’t have a take-home for their pani — its so precious.

The best chaat ever! Her gol gappe and other chaat items such as bhalla Papdi chaat and sev puri are definitely something to write home about. They are extremely experienced and it shows in the taste of the food. Simply yummy!

This place used to be good. But things can change very quickly. Now This place feels over hyped for its pani puri ! I am Not saying they are bad but you cannot justify $ 7 a plate of pani puri in a location where you can get good pani puris in several locations within a 20 mile radius. Over the last few months or years the menu has become overpriced. The paneer paratha is the worst in taste and expensive. Chole bhature is a waste! The ambience is nothing to write about . And why do they take cash only and charge taxes? They also accept tips when it is all self serve. Customer service is poor. They work in a very casual way and take a long time to prepare the order . In short stay away !

STAYAWAY… t Below average tasteless food and unreasonably high prices with horrendous customer service. We were a group of 8 and ordered a lot of food. Paneer paratha $ 5.5 has no paneer in it and is served with tasteless sides. Worst chhole bhature I have ever had. The owner lady was quite rude and arrogant when we complained about the bad tasting food served to us. Total RIPOFF. Cash only is a shady way to run business.

Best pani puri I ever had in US! This place is a must go in bay area if you are pani puri fan. We visited as a big group so I got chance to taste lot of stuff on their menu like bhel puri, samosa chaat, chole, puri bhaji, pav bhaji, mixed chaat. All dishes were good but not something extra ordinary. I would definitely visit again for pani puri. Not that it bothers me, but owner lady can be rude at times

Don’t forget: ONLYCASH! The place was very loki. Not much on ambience or anything. But, I loved my dahi tikki chat and sweet lassi. The samosa was fine too. We didn’t enjoy the chole bature so much though. The chole weren’t tasting like chole! Oh yea, the sweet paan! It was amazing!

I’d give them 3 out of 3 stars for the food. The food is great here. I’d say much better than the other food joints. I’ve had lot of dishes from the menu in this joint and liked them all. My favorite is the combo(tikki and kachori chat). The parathas are good too. Coming to the other aspects surrounding the eating part of a restaurant — Service. This place has grown from being a small mom and pop kinda thela(street food joint) to a restaurant level but has no process and is super chaotic. Once we waited 40 mins to pick a to go order(which we had to place in person). Although we hadn’t paid when we ordered, we resisted the temptation to leave as we didn’t want to be evil. The way you order is somehow get to the front and grab a notepad and write your order amongst everyone else trying to do so and pushing you in the process. Then you have no tracking of where you are in the queue and keep waiting until your name is called. Second is this place is cash only — period — and they may not be reporting sales accurately and hence I’m guessing they aren’t hiring people to set up a service process as it might force them to report sales accurately. I avoid going here Friday — Sunday evenings and keep my cravings to weekdays as it’s much faster to get your stuff on weekdays. If I do end up going there on weekends, I order to go, leave to finish some errands and come back 30 – 40 mins later to pick my order. Yes, they are same people who serve chat in New India Bazaar on Mowry in Fremont.

This is a great place for authentic chaat. Great ready to take your taste buds on a ride! Everything is very flavorful. The samosa chaat and dahi sev puri are really good but a little too spicy for my taste. The pav bhaaji was really tasty and not too spicy. You order by writing what you want on a piece of paper and handing it to the aunty behind the counter, which seemed a little strange to us but I guess it works for them.

Chatpatta has lost me as a customer. I’ve been a customer for many, many years, going back to the Dana Bazar days. I’ve been returning primarily for the pani puri, which is quite good. But this one has been a long time coming. Chatpatta has raised prices across the board again, to the point that it’s just gotten ridiculous. You can’t justify charging $ 6 for pani puri, you just can’t. The rest of the dishes similarly overpriced and there’s no reason to pay $ 20/person for self-service chaat. The other issues that the other reviews have brought up are still there. The cash-only policy, no matter how much the spend. The shoddy customer service. But this was the nail in the coffin. I walked in today, looked at the prices, and walked out. I will not be back. I would recommend you do the same. Perhaps management will learn.

This is a review for their branch inside new INDIA bazaar(off mowry and blacow). They are open only 4 days a week. I really like the chaat, especially the gol gappa. This particular location is not as good as the small one within the indian store.

Food is good. Customer service horrible. I really wish they would hire someone to take care of orders(including phone orders) and payments. The same lady who takes care of this now, wait … makes all the chaat dishes, which takes up most of her time. So, people who come in are just waiting, then she takes a break to take orders and again you are in limbo, then a few minutes later payment. And you better know what you want and make it quick, coz you are not getting any help. Please hire a person to manage the front and please put up a sign on the door that says«Cash Only». It’s like a dollar in home depot, how hard is that?

First time here on my lunch break and i am so mad! Wasted 20 mins. She made me write down my order.(no hi hello nothing) I ordered papri chaat with mango lassi. After waiting 20 mins i got my chaat. I asked her if i can pay. She said yes. It was like 10 $ something. I pulled out my credit card. She said we dont take card. Cash only. I was like i only have 6 $ she was like ok i am going to cancel your mango lassi and at this point i was pissed. I wanted to give her a bowl full of green peppers and take her water away. I looked all over the place and i am like do you have a cash only sign anywhere. She said no. I told her that she should put it because she wasted my lunch hour. I am so pissed. I am eating the spicy chaat right now with nothing to drink and seriously already have blisters in my mouth. $ 6 for chaat? I can make that at home. Bad customer service too. Never again I had to go to jack in box drive thru next door to get a mocha iced coffee. My mouth is on fire!!!

One of my favorite Indian food snacks is pani puri. I have been visiting this location for a while. It’s a typical everyday Indian restaurant with multiple types of chaats. The pani puri is probably the best in Fremont besides the Chaat stand inside the Bazaar market which is owned my the same people. The atmosphere is much like a Indian fast food restaurant. Parking is ample since its in a strip mall. The pani puri is definitely a solid 4. Where the service is concerned, it was pretty disappointing. Not that we are expecting five star service but miss counting the pani puri? That’s not acceptable. As 5 of us are standing there waiting for one pani puri at a time, we are all supposed to get total of six. The Aunty insisted we got 6 when we clearly only got 5. Then when we ordered the chaats, we ordered 3 but she gave us 4 and charged us 4. Really? I had 5 people counting and listening to the order, I am sure we are right. Definitely will be back, but next time I’m counting out loud. Until next time Bön Appetite and Chao!

After reading a couple reviews on service, I was a bit nervous coming here. I’ve had chaat before but there were still a lot of unfamiliar items on the menu. The lady«taking orders» was very friendly and asked if we had this type of food before. By «taking orders,» I mean she’s standing back there collecting the paper that you write you yourself write the order on. Pav Bhaji — Toasted bread with a predominantly tomato based vegetable mixture. Perfectly buttered and toasted bread makes this dish so good. The mixture itself isn’t too bad and the tomato/onion aroma reminds me of a McDonald’s cheeseburger. Pani Puri — I like that you have the option to eat this as if you were on the streets in India. I saw a couple guys standing near the woman who was giving them one pani puri at a time to eat. You basically create a hole in the middle of the puri, put the lentil and potatoes, and green water into it and eat it in one bite. Some puris were pretty big so I had to break it into two. I’ve had this a couple other items but didn’t notice a big difference. I’ll just trust everyone when they say they make it the best here. Mix Chaat — A good starter to chaat. I’ve had others like this before so the flavor profile was nothing new. It’s a bit sweet, spicy, and savory all at the same time. To simplify, it’s basically crushed up puri topped with a saucy lentil mixture. Plain Paratha — This was a disappointment because the paratha was thin and dry. You really have to use the yogurt sauce and it comes with a side of pickled items that are really sour. I prefer Burmese style paratha… fluffy and thick. Food came out fast even though the place was packed. Regarding the service again, the lady asked how everything was when we were done. I didn’t find anything wrong with the service. Most of it(utensils, water) is self-serve once you get all your food anyway.
