Very tasty afghan food. This place has an extensive menu and every item I tried was great. Their Bolani was one of the best, though the serving was too big for 2 people. Entrees were perfectly sized and tasted yummy too. Their staff were very friendly and attentive as well. Dinner for two including drinks(non alcoholic) and dessert costed less than 40, which was great!

Their plates were really good. The chicken and the lamb kabob were really juicy, the bread is also fresh. My friend who has been here said she doesn’t like the seasoned rice because of the strong flavors. I get why now, and it isn’t for everyone! I loved the bolani pumpkin pancakes, comes with yogurt sauce, reminds me of scallion pancakes without the scallions! For dessert, we tried the cheesecake(not a fan), it has a gritty texture but flavor was great. I had the firni, so smooth and delightful, it tastes like a milk pudding. I did read their service can be inconsistently good, but my experience was fortunately the on the better side. Please keep up the great service for your 5 star reviews!

We ordered two combo kabob platters & extra naan for about $ 35 and the food was real tasty. The cooks quit another Afghan restaurant and started this one out of passion, and it was delicious indeed. They gave me chopped cucumber salad, pickled garbanzo beans & potatoes, lamb, chicken and fried rice. For the other combo platter, we replaced the chicken with beef. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. It was legitimately good, so I’ll be back here whenever I crave Afghan food again.

I ate there last night. Take out order. It was absolutely delicious and the owner was pleasant, friendly and more than gracious. I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again, it was good enough for the afghanis, and I could see why they liked the place. Wonderful food. 5⁄5 stars for everything!

I absolutely love this restaurant. So glad to have found this place! I simply come here to pick up my combo meal of two type of kabob(tri-tip and shami chicken) brown basmati rice and a side of bolani(potatoes and pumpkin). I’m so very happy with the quality of the food, the service and restaurant overall. I will go here as often as my budget allows me. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and full of positive vibes. I have yet to actually sit down and enjoy my meal here, but it can gets pretty crowded. I highly recommend this place. Reasonable price, parking is decent and they are opened all week.

We were in the mood for Afghan food and this place had the best Unilocal reviews. The Badinjom we had for appetizers was very flavorful. The kababs were succulent and the lamb shank was perfectly cooked with lamb falling off the bone. Overall, a great experience when it comes to food. The place is a hole in the wall though and pretty tight when we tried to get our stroller in. The owner was friendly but did not try to help create space for our stroller so that we could eat comfortably and that’s the reason I have to drop a star from the review.

Holy Moly this place is a gem and an authentic find. The food was phenomenal and beyond yummy. Boloni, Cauliflower dish, eggplant dish, kabobs — you name it and the spices were invigorating and the kabob meat so tender. We asked for the most spicy and it was not that spicy. No alcohol served so just a «note to self». I did not want to Unilocal because I almost want to keep this a secret.

This is a cute lil Afghani Restaurant. Most authentic I’ve ever had, it felt like there was a Khala-Jaan(aunty) in the back preparing the food with love. Special mentions. Mantu: had a deliciously perfect beef korma with yogurt sauce. Had to finish the sauce with naan. YUM Aush: perfectly seasoned and hot! The noodles were just right not undercooked and not soggy. Rice: so good that it could be eaten by itself. The décor was nice and inviting. The gentleman waiting on us was courteous and efficient providing good service. The owner, I think?, also came by to check on all the customers. Overall good experience. Wish I could take this restaurant back home with me to SoCal. Lol.

This is my second time eating at an afghan restaurant and I was pleased! I ordered a chicken and beef combo kabob and both of my meats were so tender and juicy they melted in my mouth. The portion is huge at just $ 12.99 I definitely always have enough for leftovers. The meals come with a cucumber-tomatoe side salad. This particular location is right next to Country Way and was very quiet, we were the only customers in here at 3pm on a weekday. The employees themselves were kind of aloof and the hostess didn’t check the door much to see if she had customers waiting(which she did –not us tho). Our waiter seemed like he was the one in charge and he did well to check up on us from time to time.

Came and ordered the Teka kabob, eggplant borani, and koobideh… All were very delicious! This place is clean, located right off 880 Mowry exit and is not super busy during lunch time so perfect for me to swing by to pick up take out. They accept credit cards and is very clean inside for those who prefer to dine in.

Khalid Hosseini says«Afghanistan is a lovely country, There is grace to it». You would sense this elegance in the food that Fremont Afghan Kabob makes. I tasted a combination of Chapli, Chopan and Beef and I have to confess it was lovely. The Chapli was too spicy for my palate but I imagine it is how it is meant to be(if you cannot tolerate too much pepper then you may want to skip Chapli kabob). The rice was absolutely right on the money and perfectly prepped. I also ordered Dough and I added a little bit of salt and sumac to it from the table and it turned out great. The Jala was also an amazing dessert, I believe it either has cream or half and half in it so I imagine it might contain a ton of calories. There are a lot of great things about this place, it is open till late and has an excellent home-style ambience. The people who work here are extremely polite, and always smiling, and they give you a sense of being part of the family. We had an excellent experience.

This is the chef from the original De Afghan Kabob house!!! The better little hole on the wall that burned down, not the bigger sub par restaurant I found him! This is the best afghan place in the Bay Area! This is where the local Afghans eat when they aren’t eating at home. This place is so good and authentic. I alternate between the weblog pallow and the Chapli kabob

Yum Afghani Food… finally! We ordered: 1) Chicken Kabob Plate: oh the flavor was so delicious and the chicken was soooo tender. 2) Lamb Plate: the lamb steaks were perfect and super delicious. Pick that sucker up with your fingers and bite into it. Manners out the door! Don’t bother me… I’m chomping away. 3) Lamb curry was ooooooo weeeeee. So perfect with the bread that we literally wiped away all that curry. Perfect blend of spices. 4) Yogurt dip: was acceptable. 5) Green Hot Tea: is served by cup. No kettle option. It’s a very strong cardamom seed flavor. I personally don’t like cardamom but you may like it. 6) Rasmali: the cheese looking dessert/white and shaped like a square. It could’ve been sweeter to my liking. Baby Mo loved it. He gobbled it down. 7) Falodah: big bowl of ice noodles/sweet goodness/and ice cream. Thumbs up! Dad loved it. 8) The bread was good. 9) The rice was quite lovely. The interior décor was absolutely magnificent! Half the place was regular tables seating. The other half was traditional low tables and pillow/cushion seating. Good luck getting up from low rider seating after eating all that yummy food. The walls were decorated with Traditional clothing, artifacts, and Arabic scriptures. You will get the feeling like you are sitting and eating in a whole new world. We sat ourselves down. Service was helpful. They may need more staff. Seems about 3 people are working here. But, the job is getting done. So overall, 5 stars cause I fell in love and most likely will be back!!!

Went with my two boys and ordered the combo bolani(ordered half leek and half pumpkin) and combo kabob(chose lamb chops & chapli-ground beef patty). Bolani — Large portions. They ask you how you want it(mild, medium, or spicy). Because I was with boys, I said spicy leek & mild pumpkin. Server originally responded that he wasn’t sure if they can do that but he made it happen because that’s exactly what we got. Win! Kabobs — Both were well seasoned. Lamb was tender and chapli had wonderful flavor. Before I gave my boys some lamb to try, one said«I don’t like lamb because its chewy». I responded«It shouldn’t be.» After he tried it, he said, «This is good». He will now eat lamb, good thing because I love lamb. Win! Afghan bread was also served in advance. Great eaten plain or enjoyed with the chutneys at the table. While packing up our leftovers, I asked about taking some chutneys to go. They gave me two prepacked little containers of each. No sauce-nazi attitude here. Win! Was originally deciding between 4 or 5 stars, but my boys say 5. Who am I to argue with the palate of two 10 year olds? 5 stars :)

This was the first time we chose a restaurant’s lounge seating. Kinda unconfortable with our knees knocking together but a fun experience all the same. We ordered the mantoo appetizer for $ 5.99, something like ground beef ravioli in a yogurt, mint sauce. Tasted pretty great! And the chicken kabob entreé topped with sumac, which came with brown rice. The chicken was perfectly moist and very juicy with just the right amount of flavor. Loved it! Service is friendly and quick. Will be returning.

My mom and I really liked this place and would go out of our way to return. The space is divided in two, with the larger portion devoted to low-slung tables surrounded by pillows, and the narrower section lined with tables/chairs. The floor seating area looked festive and inviting, but we are ladies of a certain age so we opted for the ease of a table and chairs. We each ordered a lamb dish… she had the roasted lamb and I had the curry. The meat in each dish was delectably tender to the point of being silky. It was the most tender lamb either of us has ever had, and it had all the great lamby flavor we wanted without being overly gamey. My curry sauce was deeply flavorful but benefited from a dash of mint chutney to add brightness. The chutney lives in a little tub on each table along with a sweet chili sauce, so you can season to your liking without worrying about asking for more. The dish that won our hearts, though, was the eggplant appetizer. Grilled eggplant that is then roasted with tomatoes and aromatics until it all becomes a lovely stew-like concoction. We couldn’t shovel it onto our flatbread fast enough and had to get a second order to go. We aren’t experts on Afghan food but we know what tastes good, and everything here hit the mark for us!

Any place that serves food that tastes like my mom’s home cooking deserves 5 stars. The food is fresh, cooked & spiced to perfection and just hands down good. I ordered the qabuli palow(brown rice with lamb shank) and the meat was literally falling off the bone! Also tried the combo kebab and shami kebab. Both dishes were juicy and delicious. Prices are reasonable and portions are big. I will certainly be coming back!

After eating burgers, sandwiches and pastas for almost ever meal all week, a kabob plate was just the variant meal we were looking for at the end of our vacation. The restaurant is located in a strip plaza, parking wasn’t a problem, but we were there for an early dinner and only about 3 other tables were occupied at the time. By the time we left, the place was pretty full, which goes to show how popular the place is and how awesome the food! We were seated right away by our darling Brazilian server. She reviewed the menu with us and made suggestions. We decided to order the Badinjon Borani(eggplant dish) and bread as an appetizer. Hubby and I both order led combo plates in order to sample more of their kabobs. I ordered the chicken and beef kabob plate with white rice and hubby got the Chapli and Shami kabob plate with brown rice. For drinks we ordered the doogh(yogurt drink) and chai(hot green tea with a variety of spices). Let’s start with the kabob plates. The meats were all very juicy and tender. I definitely preferred my beef kabob(individual cuts of beef) compared with the shami kabob(ground beef). They both had different tastes and were both good, but I preferred the whole beef chunks. The chicken kabob was also in a league of its own, so good! My hubby adored his Chapli kabob(flattened ground beef patty with special spices) and did not leave a trace of it behind. Both white and brown rices paired well with the kabobs and the eggplant dish. The doogh drink was yogurty and salty, hubby’s a fan, I liked the hot green chai. We ordered a Phirni(spiced rice pudding) to go and it proved to be a delicious little snack before bedtime. Portion sizes are generous; we had some kabobs and rice leftover which made for a nice lunch the next day. Prices are very reasonable in comparison to some other Afghani restaurants in the area. We were so satisfied with the quality and the taste of our dinner and would love to visit again if we’re ever in the area!

My pregnant girlfriend decided she wanted Afghan food so she recommended we try this place since it had recently opened near her house. We ordered chicken and lamb kabobs, eggplant appetizer and pumpkin bolani(flat bread stuffed with pumpkin) The place itself is cute, we decided to sit on the side where you can sit on the floor(not the best idea with a skirt on and a pregnant girlfriend but we made the best of it and enjoyed our girls night out) Sadly the food lacked flavor, and had very little seasoning and lamb was burnt and chicken was dry over cooked. The eggplant dish was different, it was cold but it’s because they layer it with cold yogurt but it was good. The bolani was ok, huge portion. Sadly for price point and lack of flavor I can’t give this place more than 3 stars. The dessert however was amazing ! Don’t recall the name but it was a pudding with rose water and pistachios, extremely delicious.
