What a cool and intimate place. I ordered the black pepper Tuna and Wudu Shrimp. Wow. Very fresh. They even had a full bar.

This was the worst Japanese food I have ever had… none of the food had flavor. The teriyaki chicken was like rubber. I didn’t eat more than one bite of the chicken and they still charged me for it… wow…

Disappointing — as the reviews lured me there. My son got the Sashimi bento box — was average, salmon and yellow tail were good, however the Tuna had gone bad. I told the server, he didn’t say or do anything about it. Dragon roll was ok, spicy tuna was average. The miso soup(which is the easiest thing to make) was powdered kind. Really an average experience and the server was careless.

I just ordered delivery to my local hotel. Some of the best takeout sushi I have ever had! Went with the pepper tuna(per other Unilocal reviews), and the spa roll. Both were so good and fresh and with the extra ginger I requested. Delightfully surprised. Would definately recommend! Thanks so much.

I went to eat dinner here with my two brothers and husband. We order only 4 sushi because my eyes tend to order more than my stomach can handle. I was disappointed in the service. It was slow. The fish was fishy to me. I would not recommend it.

So… it was pretty good. Menus were interesting to decipher when your new. Server was nice but could explain in depth. Over as the Sushi heads we are… it was pretty good or being in the neighborhood… price wise: bit steep without alcohol…

I have heard how amazing this place is for months. We typically go to Edoko but I wanted to try something different. The place is very small and not to cozy. We came around 6:30 and were the only table. I almost thought they were closed. We were greeted right away. The service was great but right at 7:00 the place really filled up. The crowd was very family Oriented and I could tell it was people who came in often and after receiving my food I see why. The food was impeccable. The chef took personal request and was very quick. I’ll be back. I can’t wait to try more of their specialty rolls.

Some of the best, freshest sushi we’ve had had EVER much less in Texas. Get ‘The Steve’ — so YUM!

Probably one, if not the best, sushi restaurants I’ve ever tried. The food was spectacular. Really mouth-watering. Really wanted to give this 5 stars but the service was a little slow. May have been because we came for dinner on a Saturday night. It’s a lot smaller than we anticipated. Nevertheless, we’re definitely coming back. This place is a must try!

Spa roll is fresh and cold … Remember to ask for the fresh WASABI and a cold Sake. Always very friendly and locals galore!!!

Excellent food in a relaxed and intimate setting. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My wife and I have enjoyed several visits to Sakana. They’ve never disappointed.

I’ll keep it short. Start out with Omar’s Nachos. Everything I have ever ordered has always been GREAT! GET the Super White Tuna. It is truly the cotton candy of the sushi they have to offer.

Wow. Just wow. Excellent sushi! You won’t find a better place for miles around. Try the 7 Spice Tuna and the Jackie Chan. The«Coach» is also highly recommended. Alan is the man with the hand… he will make custom rolls if you ask.

I wonder if we just ordered the wrong items, but during our first visit here, I was expecting a little more. We ordered the miso ramen, tempura udon, and chicken teriyaki. For the teriyaki dishes, the prices seemed a bit on the higher side but the ramen and udon were average. Everything tasted good, not out of this world amazing. Like I said, I bet their high ratings come from sushi reviews, which I’ll need to try next time.

Nice, simple neighborhood spot with some good happy hour drink specials and some good quality sushi rolls and sashimi. $ 4 got us a bottle of large apple-sake that allowed both us to drink about 3 shots each. The Steve Roll was by far our favorite, but the eel roll and yellowtail roll that we ordered were also good. The sashimi sampler was also good quality and something that we’d order again.

This place is a gem! We usually go to our favorite sushi place across the street but it was packed and the wait time was too long and we really wanted sushi so thought we’d give it a try. I’ve known this place was there for years but haven’t had an opportunity to try it until now We were a little surprised at how small the place was when we stepped inside. After we sat down, we realized how comfortable it was. The sushi master was having a conversation with people at the bar who sounded like regular customers while he was preparing sushi. We ordered a spider roll, the Jackie Chan roll and a caterpillar roll. All were very good and tasted very fresh. Love the intimate feeling of the restaurant and the casual atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!

I have been over to this area a zillion times(same lot as Crudo or across Lebanon from Bonnie Ruths) but never even noticed this little place. The Mr. suggested this place for an early Friday dinner — he rarely makes a suggestion so I sure as heck wasn’t going to question the suggestion. I was totes surprised when we walked in by the size; maybe 8 tables and 10 – 12 sushi bar seats. It was just us and another family so no prob getting a seat ;) This is definitely a no frill places — no ambiance really at all. They offer Happy Hour from 5−7pm($ 2 domestics, $ 3 imports, $ 3 wine, sake too but I don’t recall). Again, no ambiance so I wouldn’t suggest going here for HH drinks, but its a great bonus if you are enjoying blue hair dinner :) In addition to sushi/Japanese offerings you can order teriyaki dishes. The menu itself is a decent size, offering the basics and plenty of specialty rolls to choose from. We shared the following: –Spicy tuna(hardly any mayo — mostly seasoned with spice) –Steve roll –Spider roll –Louisiana roll(even though nothing raw, it was my fav! The crawfish was perfect and the sauce on top was yummy) –Yellow tail sushi While nothing wow-ed us, all of what we ordered tasted good and was fresh. Small staff, but all were friendly and the service was brisk but definitely not rushed. If you’re looking for decent sushi at a local type place, check it out — but if you’re looking for more of an experience, you may want to pass.

I’m so impressed with this neighborhood sushi joint! Secluded in the corner of Lebanon and Dallas North Tollway is a surprisingly good sushi restaurant. I passed it by many times but always had dinner at other nearby establishments, but I’m so glad we finally tried it out. With only 8 tables and some bar seating, Sakana doesn’t have much room, but it’s the food that matters most. Ambiance is pretty bare – neighborhood sushi joint, not fancy frou frou Japanese. I had the spider roll and Pure Spa roll, named after their neighbor, and both were delicious! Generous portions of fish and crab with just enough rice to put it all together! Heavily sauced, but it didn’t distract from the great flavors at all. My boyfriend had the teriyaki chicken and it was also very good. I’m glad to have found another gem in Frisco. I think I’ve been to all the sushi restaurants in Frisco including Kotta and Sake Toro, and Sakana and Edoko are my top two favorites.
