I stopped in for lunch today and overall was impressed. The atmosphere was much nicer than I was expecting when walking into a «taco stand.» You order from the bar when you walk in. I ordered a tempura fish taco and the carne de puerco and a side of chips and salsa. The tempura fish was really good but I thought the pork taco was fantastic. The chips and salsa were tasty as others have said, the salsa is lacking any heat and on the runny side. My complaint: for what it is, it is much too pricey. For two tacos and chips, it was $ 10 and change. I’ll go again. Tip: sit on the patio if the weather is nice!

Not sure why people are complaining about this place not being«authentic»…especially when they clearly claim to be creating«Latin fusion cuisine» with«Latin inspired dishes.» I was pleased — maybe because I went in already understanding what this place was going to be. The order your food and then be seated threw me off for a second… but I quickly recovered. I hate frozen margaritas as a general rule. The guy who took my order, who was super friendly btw, suggested the frozen margarita in spite of my dislike. He was nice enough to let me sample it. SOLD. Apparently they make the margarita and then freeze it so that it isn’t watered down. Very strong — I was already buzzing less than halfway through. That could have been because we also enjoyed a Frozen Tequila Flight. Negra Modelo on tap can only be a win. Tacos served a la carte — garlic shredded beef had great flavor, tequila lime chicken was alright. Tempura fish taco, or bowl, or anything else, is where it’s at. I approve of the salsa even though it lacks the heat I so love. The red hot sauce in the bottle… yes please. Chill atmosphere, great bar, quick service, tasty eats, and my server was chatty and attentive. Made for a great night. Then again, there was that tequila flight…

OHMYGOSH I’m SALIVATING as I think about writing this review! Their tequila lime chicken nachos are the most delicious and interesting thing I’ve had in some time. Think: perfectly cooked, shredded chicken, with a hint of fresh lime and just a bit of the tang of tequila. Then, add a salad(which I usually have removed) of lettuce and cabbage. Add non-soggy tortilla chips, jalepenos, and some sort of secret crack-sauce, and you’ve got the perfect cure for: hangovers, hangunders/drink padding, the blues, and your belly. Craving a bit more spice and tang? Douse your nachos with their red bottle-on-each-table hotsauce, and get ready to scarf. Trust me: you won’t be sorry.

I wanted to get out of the house on Cinco de Mayo, so I decided to try another Latin American place. When I first heard the word«taco stand» I expected it to be something like grabbing a quick bite of tacos where you stand in line to order and called your name out once your order is ready. When I walked in, it was not what I expected due to the décor of the place, with the filmy white curtains and espresso wood tables/chairs that helped to give it a trendy Latin vibe. Basically it is a sit-down restaurant, and also a taco stand where you had to get in line to place your order. It was happy hour all day, $ 5 margaritas. I ordered a huge nacho salad that really piled up like a volcano that was about to explode, and it was only for $ 9, which definitely was a deal that I ended up sharing with my friend. The pineapple cinnamon margarita was heaven in my mouth. :) The only few things that I wasn’t satisfied was the service was so-so maybe it was a busy night because I was confused who was supposed to bring our food to the table. I also wished that patio was bigger with more seats available.

Positives: 1) The food was absolutely delicious. 2) The fried plantains, while different than what I expected, were amazing. So was the garlic aioli sauce. 3) The whole place is comfortable and adorable. The covered booths in the back are awesome! Negatives: 1) The music was a bit loud. This place is awesome. I’d go back in a heartbeat. I’ve been wanting another tequila chicken taco since I left.

Yucatan can get very busy so if you decide to go in lunch, especially on Friday, make sure you show up well before noon(or maybe well after 1pm) — or you can expect a long wait in line and then for your food. On my first outing, over half an hour passed from the time I walked in before I saw my food. The tortas are pretty decent, even though they were missing refried beans or avocado. The carne de puerco(is that similar to carnitas, maybe …) was on the greasy side but there was a lot of flavor there. And these are big sandwiches served with an equally large side of the fried plantains so come hungry. If you’re considering the grilled fish on you tacos(or other entrée) instead of the tempura fried, for health reasons or whatever, just skip it. It’s «grilled» on a flat metal surface — dry and not much of any flavor to it, which doesnt make much sense considering the spices and marinades used for the other meats. The other tacos are as good as everyone else has said — even the veggie tacos(just vegetables, aioli, and cheese — no meat) were good. One more thing — apparently cabrito is no longer on the menu.
