After reading the reviews from 2014, I almost cancelled my appointment. I wanted to at least go and meet the staff and stylist. I walked in and they were very friendly and welcoming. My stylist was Gerardo and he is gifted! I LOVE my haircut! I’m glad I gave them a shot! I will definitely be back. :)

I moved to the Bay area in January and had a very hard time finding a stylist who could work with my hair — texturizing, cut and color. My hair is thick and requires more texturizing than cutting, and I am very particular about my color. I had previously tried two other stylists in the Houston area and was very disappointed in the cost and quality. I am so impressed with Denise. She is a true artist. She listened to my needs and concerns, we talked through her approach and technique before she began working on my hair. Of course I was apprehensive, given my previous experience, but my concerns were allayed quickly as I watched her begin working on my hair. Denise is a perfectionist and takes her time styling my hair and measuring the cut, section by section. When I returned after my first cut, I did not have to remind her about the nuances of working with my hair. It was as if she had just styled my hair the day before. I highly recommend LuLu’s and especially Denise!

I went here to get my hair done for a wedding I was in; there were 4 of use with appointments at 2:00. All I wanted was a wash and blow out. We arrived right at our appointment time and 3 of us were taken right away. I, however, was left sitting in the waiting area until about 2:20 when I was approached by a woman who didn’t seem like she knew who she was looking for or what she was supposed to be doing. She took me to the back and washed my hair. She was actually very friendly and we had a nice chat while she washed my hair. When she was finished, she put my wet hair in a clip and took me back to the waiting area and said my stylist would be with me shortly. I was a little put off by the fact that I was sitting in the waiting area with wet hair and a towel around my shoulders… it was honestly a little embarrassing. Around 2:40 another woman came by and had no clue what I was there for and said she would«get me started on blow drying my hair». At this point I wasn’t sure how many people were going to be doing my hair and I really just felt like leaving and doing my hair myself. I guess because all I wanted was a blow out she decided to finish the job, but it was awkward the entire time. When we all left, the bride was crying because her hair looked nothing like the trial run, and the mother of the bride was telling me about how her stylist was getting an attitude about how she wanted her hair. I’m not from Galveston — I live about an hour away — but I wouldn’t go back here. Ever.

Great place, great service! My first choice to get my hair done on the Island! I have been coming here for years, all professionals when it comes to color, cut, style, manicures, pedicures, & facials — everything.

I visit Lulu’s every 4 weeks & love my pedicurist Heather Rivas! She does excellent work, has a sweet personality & is very easy going! Heather also does facials, waxing, makeup & massage. I plan to start using her for other services in the very near future. While the salon has been under renovation, I think it is almost finished & looks great!

I visit Lulus on a regular basis and my experience is always amazing! Everyone is friendly, helpful, and professional. Heather Rivas does exceptional pedicures and waxing services. It has been 2 weeks since my last pedicure and still no chips in my polish! My stylist Kathy does a fantastic job as well. She is always up to date on the latest trends and her scalp massages are to die for! I have also had my hair and make up done for weddings in the past and everything was flawless.

Visited a few weeks ago with friends. Should have heeded the one-star online reviews. Pros: Facial lady is a sweetheart. Unfortunately, won’t be seeing her again. Cons: Brace yourself, this operation resembles a poorly-rehearsed low-budget circus. Informed upon check-in that our group luncheon room was«under construction». Turns out the place has been in pieces over 6 months. Our $ 75 massages were scheduled«couples-style»(two beds) in a loud, lit, storage-like space with giant mirrors. Group individuals were shuffled between service stations in no particular coordinated fashion. Vending machines, really?!? I’m sure they are amazing at their trade, but the salon stylists who gave my massage and did my $ 70 mani/pedi left many details to be desired(such as cuticle attention and top coat). Still charged the obligatory 20% tip, even after discussing several frustrations with Lulu and staff. Bottom line: Drastically overpriced with questionable salon business practices. Go here only if you want to ruin your day in one stop.

The first time that I went into this salon I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere and the stylist that I was put with. Keisha is a superb stylist, she was able to match my color and make my hair look just the way that I like it. This time that I went in, I explained when I set in the chair that I needed to be out by a certain time. It was agreed by Keisha and I that this would be acceptable. The problem arose when the Manager and appointment setters scheduled her a man’s haircut between my color and style. When it became 10 minutes for me to get to my destination, I explained to Keisha that I must be leaving, this is with my hair a frieze ball and hadn’t even been cut. I expressed to the owner LuLu, which was on site and her explanation was that Keisha was«SLOW». After paying the $ 75 for just my roots covered and returned home from my other appointment, I called the salon back and explained that $ 75 seemed extreme for the way that I had to leave. Their excuse was that I had to leave and it was my fault for not getting the rest of my hair finished. This is after speaking to the Manager that was extremely rude and Lulu that was not any nicer. My advice is to continue going to this salon«IF» you don’t mind sitting around and waiting for others to get their hair done while you are still waiting for your appointment to be finished.

I love Lulu’s! Cathy really knows how to handle curly hair. She’s fun to talk to and cuts my hair just the way I like it, every time.

Horrible experience. The stylists are lacking in experience and the manager that I dealt with was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I have been to salons across the country, and I should have known better when I saw mixed reviews. I spent over $ 200 here, only to be forced to pay an additional $ 250 to a completely different salon to repair the near-irreparable damage; it will take me months to get my hair back to a semi-attractive state. Please spare yourself the misery and money and do not go here. I desperately wish I had listened to the other unhappy reviewers. I have never been through such a horrid experience and I wish I could erase it from my mind! Hair service providers should not cause this kind of upset. I’m shocked LuLu’s is still in business with this type of poor customer service and stylists who are nearly inept. I am more than willing to divulge the details of my visit so that I do not appear an ignorant, irate customer. Please just send me a message and I will explain. I seriously want to spare any harm to others!

Don’t bother to bring a picture. Erin cannot transfer what she sees into what you want on your head. In all of my 40’s years of hair cuts this is the most displeased I have been. No amount of money could replace the last 10 months of growing my hair out so I could have a long hair do. As I see it now– the only fix would be to cut it more so it that the layers could be closer to each other… What a joke… If thee were negative numbers on here —- this cut would be at least a –19

I was coming into town for a graduate school interview and knew I was going to need some help with my hair. I was scheduled with Marquesa and I couldn’t have been happier. What I really wanted was to look like I took some time with my hair and to have it somehow pulled out of my eyes so I wasn’t awkwardly sweeping it away as it constantly fell down… yet I didn’t want to look like I «obviously» went to the salon. Marquesa truly listened, had some great ideas, and was so comfortably down to earth and professional. Oh and the price was very reasonable!(Best of all, I was accepted into the program I was hoping for – I definitely credit her with part of that!)

I cannot speak for all of the services, but I would not recommend a massage at Lulu’s. The room was cold and they only cover you with a single sheet. There is a window in the room that is barely covered so there is too much light shining in. You can also hear people talking downstairs in the salon area. Definitely not the ambiance you want for a relaxing massage.

This is my third time coming to Lulu’s. Each time they are extremely professional and informative. The last two times was for my own wedding. Had my updo done and nails and makeup. The Aveda products are fantastic and they use them well. My maid of honor purchased the bridal package the morning of our wedding with mimosas and cheeses. It was a great compliment to all of girls getting our hair done. They were extremely accommodating to all us girls taking over the salon and helped de-stress an anxious bride. This time, I was the matron of honor getting my updo done for a family wedding. My stylist was friendly and did an excellent job recreating the style I chose from a picture on my phone. She was a little new, as she was asking for tips from the stylist next to her. But she asked and that was better than being unsure and winging it. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. Sadly I live in Houston so coming to Lulus all the time is not exactly easy, but when I do and I need my hair did, I’m coming back.

Always a great experience here. What you’ll find: Rockin’ stylists who keep up with the industry trends, colors, etc. They are one of the only salons that carry a full line of Aveda products. Kelly is my stylist and she is a doll! But the entire team is great.
