Come armed with comfortable shoes, a bottle of water, a backpack to store your goodies and lots of cash. PRO-TIPS: 1. Come early and pay for parking. $ 5 as of 2014 and a free shuttle to the main entrance. 2. Pick a spot to meet up if you get separated. 3. Come hungry. Lots of choices if you want to eat food truck style. 4. As always, buy it if you like it. You most likely won’t see it again. 5. Compare prices. We saw similar products at two different stalls priced completely differently, one for $ 13 and the other for $ 21. Loop back and get the one you prefer(taking into consideration product quality, of course). This year it was a bit rainy and cold but we came prepared. The pros were the crowds were much more manageable. Yes, we exchanged scorching hot heat stroke weather for being cold and wet, but we were warm and toasty under our waterproof jackets and boots.

i always love to visit this event in Genoa. It’s always fun with bunch of vendors, and food stalls. I always find something for our Christmas ornament and personalized them. And don’t forget to buy some yummy popcorn too. The best event around here if we talking about vendors, this event has varieties of vendors, not just crap things that you don’t really need

My first time at the Candy Dance and I had a blast. Even with the rain. I believe we will be back! :)

Went on Saturday and had a great time. I don’t think we even saw all of the vendors there were so many. The layout is great, shuttles to and from parking are free. Very organized, and yes, there was candy!

I have been attending the Candy Dance for over 15 years now. I do enjoy the festivities and the location. This has always been a fun event to attend with friends and family. The Candy has changed over the years but the town has not — it is still terrific! This is great place to go shopping for the holidays and find truly unique items that are quality. This is highly recommended!

Well I made it to my first Candy Dance. For years I did not really know what this event was, a dance? a candy sale? It actually is a huge Arts & Crafts event, with a ton of food booths too. They also had a few kids activities, and places for the guys to get a beer. Women come prepared to shop, they bring carts and baskets to carry their purchases, and I’ve heard it is very popular with Christmas shoppers. I believe it has been going on over 100 years. The arts and crafts lean towards better quality, and I would guess that most things are made in America. Parking is in a field for $ 5(goes to charity), and they shuttle you down. The main streets of Genoa are closed to cars, for the 2 days the event is going on. The place is packed, opens at 8am, but we heard people were there at 7am! Dogs are welcome. I will be back ;)

Gayle, my son and I returned to Candy Dance last weekend after a year absence. This was also Gayle’s Mom’s last year before retiring from being in charge of making and selling the various selections of yummy candy. She really is a force of nature and was up both mornings at 6AM to drive in and rally her troops. All 3 of us were also drafted to sell candy at the booth and we had a great time interacting with folks on both sides of the counter. It was also fun to walk beyond the Faire areas and enjoy the Genoa Town Site itself. This 89th Candy Dance is still a fundraiser for this historic district of Genoa. Saturday’s crowd was larger than Sundays and it was hot on both days. As expected, there was a fair amount of «one of a kind» items, but I was also surprised to find some high quality goods among the juried vendors. And although I don’t mind going to an event that is mostly cash only, the ATMs were few and not always working. This year we also went to the actual Candy Dance and Dinner at a very nicely appointed Genoa Park. We enjoyed a nice BBQ that was catered by the Trimmer Outpost and with dinner music provided by the BBQ Boys. We also got to sit in a separate area of the park, thanks to the good folks at the Orchard House. After dinner, we were entertained and danced to the music of David John and the Comstock Cowboys. And as lead singer Lacy J. Dalton mentioned at one time during the evening, there were a lot of Cowboys here that night. So you may be wondering — Could a Liberal couple from the Bay Area eventually move to a family property in Genoa and be comfortable and happy in a somewhat Red political community(including the relatives)?

Overall, very good event. There is free parking available and while this year’s event was troubled by the heat, it was a very good time. Less booths than last year(nearly 100 less), but still a good selection of crafts, art and sundry. Some of the items on sale are tacky, but there are lots of good things as well. The food is typical fair food – greasy items, lemonade, etc. Certainly worth the drive.
