Went in with my, we were craving good authentic BBQ. This isn’t it. We both ordered chicken and side of ribs. The cattle must have been a 100 years old, or the meat was left over from a week ago. Sanitation and cross-contamination are a specialty. No gloves used, dropped pieces hand swept back into food trays, not the trash, floors not swept, floors were slippery around customer seating areas, and not from being wet-mopped. I’d drive an hour for BBQ before going back THEPITBBQ in Georgetown. Food inspectors certainly missed the part on cleanliness or else they are getting p@$##) off to look the other way. This is a poor excuse for a BBQ joint to be located in Texas.

Lousy excuse for BBQ. How can the food you prepare be so bland? Moved to Georgetown this summer looking for good BBQ, this is not it! Don’t waste your money.

We love the relaxed atmosphere. My favorite is the chopped beef sandwich. They have onions and pickles at condiments bar that I dress my sandwich with. My husband likes the half chicken and the sausage. My kids also eat the chicken and the sausage. Not too spicy for the littles. But if you like it spicy they have jalapeño sausage :) the staff is always friendly and helpful. If you want your food fast don’t get in the drive thru line. Even just 3 cars deep its going to be 10 – 15 minutes wait. But that just means they’re giving excellent customer service to the cars in front of me and my turns coming! Enjoy! :)

Quick lunch Stop here today. The BBQ chopped beef sandwich with potato salad is a must when trying this place out. This mom pop restaurant has been here for years and I can see why. With Old-fashioned bottled sodas and Texas barbecue you can’t go wrong. The building is nothing pretty to look at but the food is great which keeps me coming back.

When the left over end pieces chopped sandwich was. 99 cents it was a stop to make. But when your cobbler is now the stand out, not a bbq destination. Unfortunately Georgetown has never had much in the way of bbq for some mythical reason. New trailer guy has some good stuff but salty as the Gulf. I’m not much fir eating in a tent at 96 degrees.

Went in Saturday for lunch, ordered a chicken plate and a sausage wrap, fail here, chicken was a reheat from night before or later, chicken was dry and tough and on the edge of being jerky, when I added sausage wrap he girl waiting on my reached in bread with no gloves on, also observed meat cutter on his phone and going to cutting meat without washing his hands, while sitting and seeing that another customer comes in and gets bread himself and sticks his hands in bread as well. Do I have to ask how many germs could be in the bread. Ate about half my plate and just left. Total disappointment. Serving old chicken at 11:15 am. I saw the no washing hands, what else you don’t see?

They are an average place. The atmosphere is a typical barbecue place style. I had a brisket and sausage plate. The brisket was great. It had a good seasoning for the crust. The overall flavor was great. It didn’t have a lot of smoke ring, though. The sausage was ok. It was a bit dry, but had a good flavor. Potato salad was really tasty. It is a great meal for the price.

Sausage was decent, but I’ve had better BBQ at a chain restaurant. Don’t waste your time.

Do not go here! The food is bland, the service is horrible and they put a boot on my car because I stopped by to see a friend at a restaurant next door before I entered the restaurant. If I had realized, I wouldn’t have gone in to eat. Unfortunately I went in and ate only to find tje boot on my car. They have in house towing company on standby to take advantage anybody parking there. .hundred fifty bucks down the drain.

BBQ still the same(subpar)…went there because I was craving BBQ and they had a drive through. Got the three meat dinner($ 14.99) and asked for double ribs. I was told that they could not do that because of weighing or too many ribs… idk. Finally just changed my order because they couldn’t give me two of my meats as ribs. Still nice folks but will probably not go back and just head for Rudy’s because I can pick out what I want and don’t have to argue with the staff. Too bad because I really wanted to like this place for the last 7 years of living in Georgetown.

Average all the way, we both tried the two meat plate that came with 3 sides, which is how many sides they offer, cole slaw, beans and tater salad… the sides were the best part of the meals. The brisket was good, the sausage was decent, the chicken was dry and without a lot of flavor, the chopped beef was average. This place is kind of dark, the acoustic ceiling tiles look like they need a good vacuuming. The average quality and taste compared to the top shelf pricing just doesn’t add up, 13 bucks for a two meat plate… meh describes this experience.

Average BBQ, brisket did not have a ton of smoke flavor and bark was par with a B-. Overall I give it grade of C. Will try again hopefully with better results.

Great for last minute catering. To be honest I don’t ever dine in, but at least 3 – 4 times a year when I have 10 plus mouths to feed I have been very satisfied with the Pit. I’m able to get 3 sides and four meats(enough to feed 15 as was the case last week) for under $ 150. The meats are good, I really enjoy the ribs and turkey. The only critique I have on the food is I would like to have more flavor in the brisket. The staff is always friendly and quick.

Good Brisket and slaw, small sitting area and a really friendly staff. Good Ice Tea as well. Love the small drive thru and the sandwiches wrapped in foil.

I was in Round Rock hanging with my family and we were talking about BBQ for lunch. We thought about making the drive all the way to our favorite place on 290 but we decided to stay local. We threw around some ideas and my dad mentioned this place. I’ve never actually had BBQ from this place but grew up having our brisket cooked there. Oh I remember those were so yummy. But let’s not get side tracked. This is about our walk in to go order. My mom, husband and I walked in and checked out the menu to see what would be the best for the 4 of us. We decided on the family pack of sausage. It came with one pound of sausage, half pints of colelaw, potato salad and beans. Condiments were also included BBQ sauce, onions, pickles and a small loaf of bread. We decided we wanted one ore meat so we got a half pound of the lean brisket. All of this for $ 30. What a deal. They were very friendly and patient with. Our order was put together very quickly and we were out the door. We took our precious box of food and drove home. Overall this lunch was decent however I’ve had better BBQ. The sausage was good probably my favorite of the 2 meats we got. The brisket was bland and dry however we did get the lean brisket which tends to be dryer. There wasn’t a good crust with a little bit of fat that I’m use too but again we decided on the lean so maybe that’s why. All the sides were actually pretty tasty. I liked the coleslaw because it was all chopped up in little pieces. My mom agreed with me also. Potato salad was good the pieces were all uniform and everything was mixed nicely and had a good balance of flavor. Beans were nice and tender but a little on the salty side. This was a decent meal. Nothing to great or exciting. The service was pretty awesome and the amount of food and value was a good deal. My dad likes this place but doesn’t go very often. This is a place we can keep in our back pocket. But there’s always one place that we go that has been our go to for years… as far back as I can remember but that’s another review for another place for another day.

This is definately a local favorite. If you live in Georgetown you have been to this place multiple times. The facility is always clean and feels like you are at home. They have created a menu that has made the plates both affordable and delicious. ALLTHESIDESASINCREDIBLYYUMMY!!! I have always loved the chop beef sandwhiches and the sausage wraps. I have to be honest, I have a very hard time ordering anything else off the menu. At work one day we all had a craving for chop beef sandwhiches. I called up The Pit BBQ and gave them an order for just under 100 sandwhiches, plus sides, and tea. 20 mins later, I was there paying for my sandwhiches and sides. They were so efficient to make sure I had everything to make lunch a hit. Plates, plasticware, sauce, pickels, onions, cups, and ICE!!! Then the manager even walked it all to my car. The staff is wonderful and the owners are always there cutting the meat and making your experience personal and outstanding. I HIGHLY suggest this place!!!

We were really excited to try this place. When you live in Texas and BBQ places are all over the place, you would think it would be safe to come to most places and get decent BBQ. We came here one rainy Friday afternoon after the gym so we were HUNGRY! Seriously, we could have eaten fried grass and probably thought it was good. My man and I shared a 4 meat plate so we could get a good idea of their meats.(No jokes here kids…) We got brisket, turkey, ribs, and chicken. It comes with 3 sides, or you can substitute a side for a dessert for a slight up-charge. The sides we chose were cole slaw, beans, and banana pudding! The brisket was dry and lacked any flavor. The chicken skin was tough. The ribs did not fall off the bone like they should. The turkey was the only thing that was mediocre. It tasted like they made the meat 12 hours before and it sat under warmer lights all day. The BBQ was watery and had no real BBQ flavor. The beans tasted like they came from a can, but worse if that’s possible. The cole slaw actually was pretty tasty, but it tasted exactly like it came from KFC.(Which considering how disappointing this place is, I would not be surprised if they bought a huge tub of it from them every morning) Overall, we were really sad this place was so bad. I don’t understand the people who like this BBQ. I think they need to get out and try good BBQ. Then they might subsequently update their reviews.

It looks a little shady from the street so I was skeptical but intrigued. Ordered a «small meat plate» which came with 2 sides. I paid $ 6.81 total and by the time I had my change put away, my order was wrapped and ready to go! Crazy fast! The staff was very friendly and made sure to include plastic silverware with my to– go order, which was nice since I was, in fact, going to scarf this on the road. I ordered the brisket as my one meat selection and I’d say it was about ¼lb. Plenty for a sandwich and then some. While it’s obviously not award winning BBQ, it’s not trying to be. It was hot, tender, had flavor, and was pretty damn decent for fast food, $ 6BBQ! I was really impressed with the potato salad and slaw. Potato salad had lots of flavor and heavy on the mustard, just as I like it. The slaw was fresh and light, not loaded down with mayo. Both were nice and cold and obviously fresh. My only criticism is the BBQ sauce. It’s weak and runny. But for the price and the convenience, this is hard to beat. A McFrankfenfood meal will set you back more than this and this is infinitely better in so many ways. I’ll absolutely be back. This is a great alternative to the overpriced Smokey Moe’s in town.

How appropriately named. The Pit is definitely the Pits… Looking for a bite to eat, I stumbled on this little BBQ shack and was intrigued. As is my standard operating procedure, I ordered a variety of items to get a good feel for the place. Moist Brisket: Well cooked. Tender and moist, as advertised. Bland bland bland. It didn’t even taste like this was near a smoker. No smoke flavor. No seasoning. Not even a hint of a smoke ring. Pork Ribs: Tender. Not quite fall off the bone. They still had a little bite, which I like. They use St Louis ribs, which had a good balance of fat and connective tissue. A faint hint of smoke. Once again… bland. No seasoning. Turkey: Tender, juicy and flavorful. The star of the smargasbord. Barley a hint of smoke. Lightly seasoned(yay! They found the salt!) Jalapeño Sausage: Good meaty texture. Full of flavor. Sadly dried out, because they hold them presliced. All the juices and delcious fat have rendered out of the sausage, leaving it dry and chewy. I was given a cup of sauce. The sauce was peppery but largely lacking flavor. They’ve managed to cook all the meast well, but they seem to be missing two key elements to good BBQ. Smoke and seasoning. If you enjoy BBQ, don’t bother stopping here.
