This is a decent station with things like a bathroom and a ticket attendant and TVM. Park h is decent and there are no hobos, drunken rednecks, escaped cons or mental patients to attack you. Connecting bus service is available to the Ride-On and here are shelters to keep you from getting wetter than a pork barrel at an Uberskank concert if it rains. If you park in the main lot do be careful as the stairs get slick as an eel in the rain or after a snow thaw.

The Germantown Station is very orderly, which is very nice having come from NJ/NYC which has its own sometimes less civilized rules for order in terms of commuting. For my first morning commute into DC, I noticed that everyone joins one of two lines. Upon the trains arrival, you follow the line, show your ticket, and then board the train. Very easy and pleasant overall. To buy our ticket, we went to the building on the property and used the automated machine to purchase our tickets. I wish the machine was a little more intuitive. Also, I found it a little annoying that you have to swipe your credit card just to get the machine going. I imagine it’s easy to make a mistake and you can end up buying the wrong ticket. Fortunately, that was not the case for me. You can also buy breakfast in that building in the mornings. Very convenient. Be aware of the hours that the building is open because it’s only open in the mornings and the late afternoon into the early evening. Overall, it’s a nice train station and offers most everything that you need including ample parking in the lot. Definitely arrive before 7 am if you want a chance to park at the closer lot though. I’m leaving room for an extra star once I get a chance to commute from here more regularly.
