If you’re looking for a beautiful place with history, charm, great hosts, and some haunted fun then this is the place to go. It’s so close to the popular attractions and is a great home away from home. I strongly suggest getting the French Toast… it was so crunchy and delicious! The best I’ve ever had by far and I hope I can find a recipe just as good!

Eileen was enthusiastic and welcoming upon our arrival. The freshly baked chocolate chip cookies were a nice touch! The house is beautiful and the grounds are enjoyable to have. We enjoyed coffee on the porch in the morning and even made friends with their pet cat, Jezebel. Breakfast was delicious — possibly the best cinnamon sugar waffles we’ve ever had. We’ll be looking forward to the next time and happy to recommend to any of those traveling to Gettysburg.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September while we toured the Gettysburg area. The rooms are nice, the beds comfortable, lots of space to park(without being charged), clean and the breakfast was good. Located a mile or two from the national park, it was nice after a day of touring to be able to come back to someplace quiet and secluded. Also, it is located close enough to everything that if we needed a break or a nap, we could do so quickly. My wife especially liked the Kuerig coffee maker with assorted coffees, teas and hot cocoa AND the fresh baked cookies in the evenings. We will definitely consider coming back on our next trip.

The Lightner Farmhouse B & B was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Gettysburg. Our room was spacious and very clean. We could feel the history of this former Civil War Hospital while we were there. The breakfasts were tasty and ample. the only downfall for some people, but not us, was the lack of a tv in the room. They have a tv in the basement that you can watch. We did not have time to watch tv at all while we were visiting so not having one in the room was not an issue to us. Eileen, keep up the great work you are doing there. BTW, this is a great spot to do some ghost hunting. We did not see or feel anything, but it was fun trying late one night!

I have to preface by saying this was my first Bed and Breakfast stay ever so I wasn’t too sure what to expect. My husband and I were warmly greeted by the owners Eileen and Dennis who show you around and give you the history of the Lightner Farmhouse –which served as a Field Hospital during the Civil War. Since I am a «paranormal geek» I was eager to find a place to stay that had history, atmosphere and maybe even some possible activity(my husband the skeptic heard scratching in our room the second night but I was dead asleep). Our room was on the small side but the bed was very comfortable– the room tastefully decorated with antiques and period décor, and our bathroom was squeaky clean. The breakfast and fresh baked cookies(which they provided in the evening) were equally delicious! If I were to complain about anything– it would be that it was too quiet(the television is in the entertainment room located in the basement) but then again that’s was we were there for :)! Not to be missed! We can’t wait to go back to see our new friends again!
