Very disappointed. We came in after hearing an ad on the radio touting their food and drink specials, so figured why not. It was deserted on a Friday afternoon, never a good sign, there was just a solitary creepy looking guy drinking at the bar. After taking forever to greet us at the host stand we were finally sat in a booth, and the waiter and hostess disappeared without a word. As she came back with water we tried to order according to their advertised special but they told us that it was only for certain hours and you had to be sitting at the bar to get the discounted rates. So incredibly misleading, if their food is as bad as the customer service you might die after eating here. We walked out and will never go back.

Still really liked this restaurant after our recent visit. If you read my first review, we loved the mushroom salsa, the albondigas soup and the carne asada — a lot. Finally decided not to try chicken mole again in Colorado or Utah — too sweet and not at all complexly flavored anyplace we have tried it. So on to our new visit. Mushroom salsa was not as good. More like a raw mushroom salad. Not that that is bad, just not the sublime taste we had the first time. That is all the negative. I ordered the lunch size of tortilla soup. Oh was it good. The broth was tomato-y and filled with chunks of just-charred chicken(ie, not chicken that had been sitting in the broth), avocado cubes, fried tortilla strips, chunks of sweetly fresh tasting tomatoes, green chile pieces, and lots of cheese. This soup was sublime and hearty. That said, nothing can beat their albondigas. As you may guess, I love soup. And this place makes great Mexican soups. And I will try every one of them! My husband ordered the Culichi Chicken mainly because he had never heard of this dish. Apparently Culiacán is a city in Sinaloa — sort of east of Baja California. The dish(which can also be ordered with shrimp) was described as served in a creamy sauce made with poblano peppers and spices, topped with sliced poblanos, spinach and mushrooms. It was served with excellent rice and beans. Culichi Chicken was even better than the soup. Had it been served in a trendy, upscale restaurant without the rice and beans — you might not even guess it was a Mexican dish. It reminded me more of some the the sophisticated dishes served in Mexico City. To all fire-eaters — this dish is not hot. It is beautifully seasoned. The freshness of the grilled mushroom slices, the fresh spinach and the still-crunchy poblano chiles really set off the creamy sauce. This dish is really worth trying! And it was one of their«Supreme Lunch Specials»(a little pricier than their regular lunch specials, but still a bargain compared with dinner prices). So — serious thumbs up here. This is a place that goes beyond the normal combo plates(though you can get those, too). And — you had me at soup, great soup.

Buyer beware! This was our first time there. We decided to go in for happy hour. I had an ad from the local student saver paper that said 3 – 5 pm ½ price appetizers everyday at the bar, so we sat at the bar. The ad also said $ 3.00 margaritas from 3 – 6 pm. So we ordered a Mi Mexico taco appetizer, queso dip and house margaritas(the sign on the bar said $ 3.00 house margaritas everyday from 3 – 6 pm also) WELL after eating and drinking 4 margaritas total we got our bill. Both appetizers were full price and the margaritas were $ 5.75 each. I flagged down the server and showed him the ad and also said we ordered house margaritas. He told us the margaritas we had were ‘regular’ and that house were much smaller… Well I ordered house and gave me regular size why? He showed the ad to the manager who said the ad was confusing on the appetizers and what we ordered wasn’t included(there are no exclusions in the ad!) the manager did take ½ off the appetizers but we paid $ 5.75 for each margarita! Note to owner don’t run ads If you don’t plan to honor them! I won’t be back

My dad brought us here for lunch on Christmas Eve, upon us all wanting to try it. This place was previously an Italian place called Johnny Carino’s(under different ownership). I tried one of their pina coladas and it was really good. Chips, salsa, and pico de gallo were brought to us. The chips weren’t as good as others I’d had but they weren’t the worst either. The pico de gallo was really, really good. I am a sucker for cilantro and this pico definitely had it. YUMYUM! I ordered Enchiladas and my meal was so good! I finished the whole thing, much to my surprise, especially after gorging on the chips and salsa beforehand. The meals were large in portion size and I thought for sure I’d have to «doggy bag» my meal. I found it a bit strange, however, that coleslaw comes with the meal. Really… cole slaw? Weird, to say the least… Our waitress and the busboy were very good and their service was really efficient. Always checking on us and keeping our glasses filled with water and drinks. That’s one thing I always look for and will give kudos on. Customer service is key and when you get really good customer service, they will get good reviews. One more thing: this restaurant is very clean in appearance and the décor is nice. Will pay another visit to this restaurant upon our next visit to the area. Also recommended it to other family members of ours who have been wanting to try it and my dad said he will gladly return again as well.

Came here for lunch on Christmas Eve. The restaurant is a good size place and the décor is nice too(in that Mexican motif). I ordered the 2 taco & enchilada combo platter. It comes with refried beans, rice and coleslaw. Yeah, I thought serving cole slaw was odd but it worked. You get chips, 2 kinds of salsa(mild & hot) and a bowl of pico de gallo to nosh on before your food arrives. The salsas and pico were really good but the chips were disappointing. They tasted like they were store bought and a little stale. Disappointing since I’m at a Mexican restaurant, how hard is it to make fresh chips? My tacos were OK. The shells were pre-made like you’d get from a package of Old El Paso Taco shells. They weren’t bad but again, how hard is it to make fresh taco shells and you are a Mexican restaurant? The platters were HUGE and everything tasted real good so no complaints there. I had a banana margarita and that was the bomb. It’s hard to find those so I was glad I had one. They make other flavors I’ve never heard of like peach and blueberry. I may have to try that next time. I had fried ice cream for dessert and that was real good too. The service was excellent and the restaurant was nice & clean. I will be back since other members of my party who ate had various other dishes and they looked killer and their platters were huge too. I would’ve given this a 4 star rating if it weren’t for the tacos and chips. Oh and they have a fresh tortilla making area on nights and weekends that I would love to try. I will be back for sure, I just won’t be eating tacos.

Yummy food and margaritas! I really liked how professional the staff were in appearance and behavior. It’s nice to visit a clean restaurant where corn tortillas are made by hand and the staff genuinely care about your experience. We will come back for sure! The carne asada is a must try!

Really good experience. I went for a lunch middle of the week and it wasn’t incredibly busy. Decent lunch menu and options. The salsa was good and on par with the Mexican restaurants here in Grand Junction. Beef had some good flavor also which is also pretty good. The waitstaff was pretty attentive and the gentleman at the hostess stand was knowledgeable about the restaurant, I was updating the information and adding the place to google maps.

The reviews for this restaurant seem to be up and down. However, my latest experience was great. Deluxe tostada and chicken burrito were great. My tequila sunrise was delicious too. We’ll definitely be back.

What a great Mexican restaurant. My girlfriend and I where visiting on vacation and stumbled upon this place. When we first walked in we where very impressed with the décor and inviting staff saying«welcome amoigos» I ordered a ultimate Margarita and a combination plate with chili relleno taco and enchilada everything was really good including the beans and rice. I like how they bring a shaker out with extra margarita in it for you. My girlfriend had Carne asada and she said it was to die for. huge portions here you could easily get away with sharing one plate with a friend. The staff kept checking in on us and we would have to say this is one of the better Mexican restaurants around. keep up the good work.

Although the service was nice and the interior was well decorated and clean, the food wasn’t very good. I ordered a chicken enchilada and ground beef taco combo. The chips and salsa and horchata were good, unfortunately nothing else was. The chicken was very watered down which made my whole plate of food soggy and the beef inside the tacos was a nasty pasty consistency. Won’t be coming back.

I like to eat here. The staff is wonderful. The drinks are great. The last time I ate here, the cook was too liberal with the salt shaker, whereas he/she could have used other spices like garlic and cilantro instead.

Saturday night we sat in the bar and service was excellent. The camerones huachil was as delicious tasting as it was beautifully served. This shrimp dish is perfect summer fare; light, refreshing and healthy.

Our group of 5 dined in on a Tuesday evening. After the previous bad reviews we almost changed our minds but are happy we gave it a try. The best entrée was the Mexican Trio with an assortment of meat, beans, rice and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. The beef was especially flavorful, the chicken average and the shrimp on the small side. It is a lot of food. The Burrito Loco and Deluxe Burritos were very good. The Seafood Chimichanga was the only disappointment. Service was good and friendly. This location was formerly a Johnny Carino’s.

Walking in the décor was great, seemed really up beat. First meeting of our server wasn’t pleasant, very rude, no excitement or interest in serving us. We had a total of 5 different servers throughout out visit. On top of that none of them had good attitudes or knew the menu at all. Very poor service. On top of the service the cost of items in menu were extremely over priced, considering there are quite a few Mexican restaurants that are way better in the Grand Junction area with better pricing, they need to think about that! Food was sub-par :(probably won’t be going back.

Excellent food! Extensive menu. Great drinks, fun, relaxed atmosphere. We even went there on a busy Sunday afternoon and we were well served. Very polite and professional waiters. My husband & I ordered the premium margaritas, excellent! He had cheese enchiladas and I ordered fish tacos. Scrumptious! Highly recommened and we will be returning there ourselves.
