The food was good, but the atmosphere is a little dark and drab. Leaves me confused.

Great meal tonight, both Scott & I had the New York Steak which was cooked perfectly. Lovely restaurant, personable staff and great service.

This restaurant feels like it’s in the middle of a mid-life crisis and doesn’t really know who it is. The concept feels really… confused. The menu is a mexican/steak/seafood hybrid with a very diner-esque flare to it. I ordered the Chicken, Cheese and Sour Cream Enchiladas which were pretty decent. I expected the ‘mild white sauce’ to be mild, but I didn’t expect it to be so bland. It was kind of like having the type of country gravy that would go over biscuits or chicken fried steak, only without much in the way of seasoning. The inside of the enchiladas were pretty good and while the sauce wasn’t very exciting on its own, it gave an overall creaminess to the enchiladas that had a very satisfying mouth feel. It also made decent left overs. My dining companion ordered the Carne Asada and described it as a ‘mess on a plate’ but ‘okay tasting’. The salsa that comes with the chips has good flavor, but benefited from a little salt and lime. As far as drinks go, they have a really nice selection of beers and wines. The margarita was good, however my server couldn’t confirm if the standard tequila they use is 100% de agave, so for someone who finds this important, they would need to pay to upgrade to a different tequila. Our service was very good. No complaints at all. Also, as other reviews have mentioned, on the menu it says ‘no substitutions’, but when I mentioned that I didn’t want the rice. My server offered to give me beans instead, so that was actually very nice because I didn’t expect I would be given the option. Now, for the décor… Remember when I said this place felt confused? Well, we’re getting back to that. I would like to say up front that the décor is very nice. This place is clean and I really like the rich browns and use of other colors, the art on the walls are all very nice, and the wooden table tops are quite gorgeous. When you pull the chairs back to sit down, you can feel that they are solid and of good quality. The owners have obviously put a lot of love and money into their restaurant. Yet, despite that, it’s hard to feel this place’s concept by just sitting in the restaurant. There’s a south-western flare, with a steak house feel, with a Marie Calendars type restaurant twist. The place mats on the tables don’t quite fit and sadly cover up the beautiful table tops. Also, the music was very 70s. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the music but again it didn’t really seem to ‘fit’ with the ‘south-western’ part of the restaurant. Décor and food aside, this restaurant is an easy walk from the hotels near the airport, which is a nice plus if someone wants to get out of their hotel but may not have transportation or maybe just wants something local and close by. Considering the ‘no substitutions’ rule, I’m not sure that I would recommend this place to someone who has any special dietary needs, but over all I would say that it was worth trying out. Peppers wouldn’t be my first choice of restaurants when I’m in Grand Junction again, but I also wouldn’t be against going back for a second try if I had a dining companion who wanted to go.

The staffers are great! The management allows the bar to make a good drink. I had my first old fashioned there. At first, I was put off because the chef wanted the leeway not to have me(or you) dictate the doneness of the steak. I have eaten there 3 or 4 times now. And I think I can say, without fear of contradiction that it is a place you cannot get a bad meal at! Manga

Just a heads up up: This place has a tiny menu. Also, they do not allow any type of substitutions to menu.

If I had to choose between a dinner at this place and a bag of hot Cheetos, I’d choose the bag of chips. This is the only restaurant I’ve been to that doesn’t accommodate patrons request for substitution or in this case elimination of an ingredient from their food. I was with a pescatarian and she wanted to order something without chicken and was informed by the server that they can’t cook it without chicken. Even the crab enchilada I ordered was flavored and topped with nacho cheese. I wish I’d eaten hot Cheetos for dinner instead. Stay away if you have any dietary or food restrictions!

Ok. Don’t go if you’re lactose intolerant as you will have limited options. No substitutions are made very clear by the wait staff.

Always concerned when you read reviews and they talk about parties of one being ignored. Traveling for business, usually, it’s a party of one for me. So far so good though. Staff is prompt, courteous and helpful. Beer came out quick and was cold, off to a good start. Ok, so food came out. The smaller portion of the Supreme Enchilada. Overall, very good. It’s hard to complain about hot food, but this came out really hot. Had to wait a few minutes so it would cool down. Serving size was perfect, was not overly hungry so they smaller portion was just the right amount. The enchilada was just about perfect. The pulled steak was not over done like I’ve had at other places, very tender, with some color to it still. Rice and beans were very good and the lettuce and sour cream was, well, lettuce and sour cream. If you have issues with those two, there are bigger problems. Overall, very good. I will come back again. Give them a try, I think you’ll like it.

We all know that many chefs/owners are proud of the food that they make and have«no substitutions» rules. But if you’re going to have that rule, you need to have an option for vegetarians. When we tried to order a simple enchilada without meat, we were informed that the only thing they have for vegetarians is ONTHEKIDSMENU. Yep, the«kid’s cheese crisp.» Not only do you not allow substitutions(under any circumstance), you belittle vegetarians by sending them to the kiddie table. When you stick to senseless rules like this just for the sake of sticking to them, you are sending a clear message that the customer is not the priority here and you really don’t care if we enjoy our experience or come back in the future. Which we didn’t and we won’t.

Quality of food is a five star. Highly recommended April and we try to sit in her station each time. No reservations taken which is lacking… there are special occasions that would definitely be better if your party doesn’t have to stand in the small entryway because the bar is also too small. Also difficult to plan around their hours… being closed on Sundays and no lunch on Monday… they don’t commit to a closing time which is rough if you are traveling though Grand Junction and arrive late! The hostess has no qualms with turning away business and watching her do it makes one squirm if it were my livelihood! Although warm and cozy, it feels like the owners make and income but do not reinvest to update… the plastic flowers should go! Their Mexican dishes are better than many other offerings in town. And of course the strawberry nacho desert is wonderful.

This was my second time here. I visited once before while on business and again tonight while on business. Unfortunately both times I was by myself and felt like I paid the price for it. I was stuck in the same booth that seems to get over looked by the wait staff. I watched as tables around me were served and eating prior to me getting a glance from my server. I ordered chips and salsa to start and the Carne Asada for my entrée. Chips took a lot longer then expected and the entrée was nothing to rave about. The bar was the redeeming factor here. Nice conversation. It seemed as though the couples around me were having a good time, so take that for what it’s worth. I’m left little bitter and probably wouldn’t return even if I had more people in my party. Barely 2 stars for the entire experience. Food alone might deserve 3 starts only cause I was very hungry.

Service was absolutely terrible. The cooks as well as the wait staff refused to serve me anything with out dairy despite my food allergy. I was then told that there was nothing on the menu that I could order and basically that it was my own problem to deal with. I will never visit this place again, I would rather starve.

The nights started a little bumby when the staff couldn’t decide if I could get a full meal at the bar, to watch the game, or if I could just get appetizers. After the manager corrected one bartender the service did a full one 180. The other bartender taking care of me was friendly and attentive. I felt like the most important person in the place. I ordered the Chimi. The two Chimis came out hot and stuffed with generous amounts of chicken or beef. The pork green chili smoothering the Chimis was very good. The cheddar sauce also smothering the chimi was not as good I would recomened ordering the Chimi with just the green chili. Also if you like your TeX Mex with some kick you are going to need a lot of hot sauce. The food was good but very mild in spice. Overall this was good food with very good service. It was satisfying but nothing to right home about.

September 16th, 2014. I arrived at 5:00 p.m. On a Tuesday and was seated immediately with no reservation. It is nice inside with the expected southwestern flair. I ordered the Carna Asada for $ 15.95. It came with sautéed onions and bell peppers, steak, beans, rice, cheese, sour cream and tortillas. It also came with a green pepper sauce that was very good. The steak and other items were nicely seasoned with pepper. The steak was cooked well done, which is too much for my taste. It was a bit hard to chew but nothing too substantial. Service was prompt, timely and pleasant. The atmosphere was quiet where I was seated, which I always prefer over noisy places. My dinner tasted very good and filled me up. With the service and reasonable price(compared to Moab where I have been dining quite a bit), WW Pepper earned a 4 star rating from me. No wifi for those interested, and they do take Amex.

The ‘chef’ is so unwilling to waiver on his menu that it makes it difficult to eat here in large groups.(Scarce vegetarian options and absolutely NO substitutions.) The food isn’t that great to have such high standards for the guests. Peppers is good for date night from time to time, as my husband and I really do enjoy the southwest fare and the wait staff are absolutely wonderful. Want something unique that wont disappoint? Try the Pepperell! Good margaritas from their veteran bar tender as well! However, In the mood for a steak? Might as well choose Applebee’s. Serving steaks on a hot skillet is a great way to ruin them in a hurry; always dry and overcooked.

Friendly enough staff but the kitchen«won’t put both green and red chili on the enchiladas at the same time». When I asked why she said the cook was«particular» yet the dish comes out with what looks like canned cheese sauce on it. I do not believe the mantra that«the customer is always right» but that being said I didn’t ask for anything extraordinary and find the«no can do» mentality odd at a casual restaurant. I ate about three bites of the enchilada which arrived bubbling hot which made me happy so I figured we were moving in a positive direction. Hot food usually means good food and you could feel the heat coming off the plate. The shredded beef inside the enchilada was well seasoned and cooked properly as it was tender. There was too much cheese for my liking inside it, though, and the(what appeared to be) canned cheese sauce on the actual enchilada ruined the dish in my estimation. The red chili on top was chili con carne with beans instead of a red enchilada sauce like I was expecting. It came with a side of white rice and shredded iceberg lettuce with diced tomatoes on the side along with a dollop of sour cream on the top. I left about two thirds of my portion on my plate when I asked for my check. When I was paying my bill the waitress asked me if the food was alright. I politely explained that it didn’t make sense to me that they wouldn’t put both kinds of chili on the top yet the dish came out with canned queso on it. It’s a casual restaurant and not a fine dining establishment. I also politely explained to her that I wouldn’t be back. I did tip 20% on the tab.
