Today I drove my boyfriend to this dollar tree to run in and grab a note-pad. We were 3 minutes early on Saturday morning and patiently waited for someone to unlock the door. Once we had what we needed we got in line and there were 2 other women ahead of us. The woman at the register had a couple of item and kindly handed Connie the cashier a $ 20. Connie went OFF on this lady ranting about how she doesn’t have change, then Connie looked at the next woman in line and said«I sure hope you’re not paying with a large bill bc I won’t have change!». The woman looked surprised and answered that she too only had a $ 20 bill. Connie complained how ridiculous it was that these women were paying with large bills– then a customer came back and said«this is a dollar store on a SATURDAY morning, it’s not our fault you don’t have change at your register!» Connie then started to hassle this woman! She saw that The lady was purchasing 5 newspapers and something else and said«you do know there’s a limit on these newspapers right?».(The limit is 10 and this lady had 5.) The lady started to ask Why Connie insisted on picking on her, that she comes into this store every Saturday morning and doesn’t deserve to be treated this way. Finally the manager came up and noticed the argument and had to tell Connie to calm down. Connie if you or your manager are reading this just know that you BOTH are incredibly unprofessional and should find employment outside of customer service! No one should be treated the way you made these two women feel today. Shame on you!

Well dollar tree is generally my favorite of my dollar stores; shy of one particular other chain but that is limited to one of their locations; and one of the few if not only ones I know of that each item in the whole store is still a dollar per item instead of most of the store. The issue I have here is that the store is very dim compared to other dollar trees. Compared to most dollar stores shy of one chain that is usually darker and gloomy. Store is smaller it seems than other dollar trees as well; at least maybe in width but it helped make it feel slightly more cramped than other dollar trees. Didn’t help some areas were stocking. Again reminding me of the other dollar store chain that I personally don’t prefer. I didn’t have much interaction with any employees outside of check out. In teenage friendly behavior I was greeted with some sort of joking comment about the first things he grabbed. «So got all the candy eh???» Generally I don’t mind but the gloom had kind of took over. Friendly but I felt more in the fashion of his own amusement & time passing than anything else; which as having been a working teen many years ago I understand; but I guess in past I had mainly delt with college age & more senior employees @ dollar tree. Glad they have one of these in the area but could use some improvements before I would rate it as highly as the other two dollar trees in the mid-cities I go to regularly.

I cannot ever shop at this store again. Sorry. I’m am very much into the samll business industry in this country. My Dad’s heart was his legacy to me in that he owned and operated his own business in our little community through recessions, inflation, and anything else the IRS and our government threw his way. But this one takes the cake. I went in to by potting soil and was standing in a line of four people waiting. And waiting. And waiting. It’s not bad to wait. But the people in front of me were starting to complain among themselves(woman and adult daughter). I decided to go for a direct approach to the problem. So I asked the cashier if there was someone who could help her and us. She replied(her first name begins with the letter R) «He just got back from the bank and is counting the money.» I’m pretty sure she said the word the. Because I thought he was getting his drawer together and would be out soon. But I thought to myself that it is Sat at noon in a retail establishment and there was only 1 cashier. I was positionally standing in the aisle that runs across the front of what they probably refer to as the front end cap. The manager came out of the office and walked by me. So I engaged him, said hello and introduced myself by giving him my first and last name. I then asked him why he only had one cashier in the store on Sat at noon. He replied that it is all they allow me. I became concerned and said is business that bad? He then replied«I can get you on three.» to which I replied, «OK». He was nice, engaging, helpful and positive. After helping me buy balloons to which he had to blow up. I was feeling very positive about this experience and told him that I would be praying that his store prosper and was getting my things and realized I was missing wrapping paper. I told him that I would go and let the other cashier help me and said this in a spirit of allowing him to perform his managerial duties. Here’s where it turns ugly. There was no one in line when I brought my wrapping paper up to her check out station. But I waited. And waited. And waited for her while she continued to pick up along the front of the store. Now mind you. It was not busy. It had not been busy. The four people waiting in line earlier were the only people in the store other than one person. Wow. Sat noon. What is going on I am wondering. She finally gets done with her cleaning and passes her station with a empty basket returns it over to the stack and FINALLY comes up to me and proceeds to check me out. So I asked if she thought that customers should come first? I then asked why she made me wait while she stocked and cleaned? That I felt she should have been there sooner to check me out. She got mad. She turned off her open light and started yelling into the store saying that someone else has got to check her out. WOW. I was not angry when I asked her why she did what she did. I wasn’t yelling. I may have been peeved. Probably so. But really. To throw me aside. That’s what it felt like and THAT made me angry. I feel she should not be in this business. Everyone I feel should find their niche and I don’t think this is hers. But on the other hand positive attitude should be a constant with any job you have.
