If I could give this place zero stars I would. I ordered nachos and received nachos with absolutely cheese. Chips were covered in shredded lettuce and sour cream. Seriously??? Out of towners looking for something other than seafood. Don’t waste your time

AMAZING! Waited for horrible service at a restaurant down the way. After being quoted 20min for a table, but really wait 1hr 10min later — we made it to Tequila. Thank goodness we did. Incredible atmosphere, great food, and unexpectedly amazing staff! Thanks for turning our frown upside down

The service was okay, but the food was in serious need of some seasoning. I mean EVERY single item needed more seasoning. I haven’t ever had to say this about food before, but this was a huge issue with the food here. Nothing tasted like what it was supposed to, and I’ve been to dozens of Mexican restaurants, so this is not a novice critiquing their food. Also, as a heads up, please note that they will charge an extra $ 1.50 if you ask for more salsa. I’ve never been charged extra for salsa before, so it was a surprise to me that the server didn’t even mention the extra charge. Definitely not coming here again, and that’s sad because today is our first day of vacation, and we would have been back had the experience been better.

We were looking for a good Mexican restaurant to eat at and we read the reviews and they all pointed to here. So we tried it out and reading the reviews paid off! They have awesome food and we had great service, we will definitely be back!

I was craving Mexican food at Gulf Shores and did not know where to go so I tried here. Wow, what an uninspiring Mexican restaurant! The salsa was almost tasteless, most everything I had was incredibly bland. The service was decent, and I was seated quickly, but maybe that was because they were only five or six people in the restaurant. Come on Gulf Shores, you can do better!

Wait was really long. Food was ok. Typical tex mex. but id stay away from the spicy burrito. Pitcher of margaritas was good(but strong). Overall probably one of the safest bets in gulf shores.

I was craving Mexican food while on vacation in Gulf Shores. I decided to give Tequila’s a try. The reviews seemed okay to above average. Sometimes you just crave good olé typical Tex-Mex. The ambience was lacking. What little music that came through the speakers was muffled and cut in and out our entire visit. It eventually quit. We sat awkwardly talking quietly, listening to other customers do the same. The booths were bright and colorful, nothing fancy about the restaurant, but decent and clean. The restrooms, however, need some attention. Definitely need a scrubbing, some maintenance, and some bright lighting. I felt shady in el banjo! Chips were typical, nothing memorable about the salsa. The food was ok. Just ok. I ordered a large burrito with a mix of steak, chicken, and shrimp. I only received four tiny shrimp in my burrito. I know how hard shrimp are to come by in the Gulf. My wife ordered shrimp stuffed poblano’s. They were actually pretty tasty. Still stingy on the shrimp though. Service was ok as well. The quiet ambience also made it awkward as the servers would walk by with more awkward smiles. We felt as though we were imposing upon them in some way. Probably won’t return. Unless all others eateries are closed down, and maybe if they have a big sale on shrimp.

Very good Mexican food. We had traditional dishes, enchiladas, chalupas, Steven’s special, and burritos. All were good and tasted authentic. The salsa is a bit run of the mill, but it was good. The service was great. The prices were in line with a tourist town. We would come back and I recommend it for a out of the way place that won’t break the bank.

I visit Gulf Shores, where my dad has his winter home, during the holidays. In addition to time with him and family, it’s a nice break from Minnesota’s freezing winter weather for a few days. Take-out from Tequila became our go-to after thundershowers ruined plans for a backyard barbecue one of the days I was there. No biggee, it was still 60 degrees warmer than where I came from. We phoned in our order, and it was ready to go when we arrived to pick it up. Décor at the restaurant was nice — your typical Mexican cantina theme. A full bar in one of the rooms. TV and everything, if you want to hang out and catch a game. And the waitresses… I’m sorry… after 40 years in California, I still have a weakness for that long black hair and those deep brown eyes, my ex-wife notwithstanding. Anyway, moving on… The food was good. The ingredients fresh and of good quality, and the dishes well-prepared. The meal always loses just a bit during the drive home, and I suspect it would have been even better in the restaurant and on a plate, but still, no complaints 20 minutes later, and out of the styrofoam containers. We really enjoyed the meal. The simple classics are an important part of how I judge a restaurant, and the chips and salsa absolutely made the grade. I wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again.

We are here twice this week while in town. Delicious food, quick service and clean. My only complaint would be on the guacamole. It’s not very fresh, almost like it comes from a bag. Otherwise worth the stop for lunch.

Had the chili rellenos(beef) that where very good. The batter was thin, they used shredded beef(nice) and they actually roasted them unlike Cactus Cantina down the road. My wife got the chicken chimichanga, the chicken was almost like a shredded style, and she said that it was light and flaky. My mother-in-law got the steak fajitas and said it was excellent. All in all, I would say the best in the area that I have tried lately.

We came here because I saw the reviews on Unilocal.I did not enjoy any of it. The salsa was very plain and my enchiladas were subpar. I wouldn’t go back.

Was looking for seafood but everywhere was a two hour wait, ended up hear and glad we did. Great food at reasonable prices. Very fresh! I can’t remember what my dish was called but it was a chicken breast with caramelized onions and queso… delish!

I hail from Texas. The home of tex mex food. This was the only place around the Gulf Shores area with decent reviews so I gave it a try. I’m glad I did! The food was comparable to what I get at home and extremely reasonable in price. I would come here over and over.

We’ve been coming to Fort Morgan Beach for years but this was our first visit to Tequila. And I know it won’t be our last! Being from New Orleans, the food capitol of the south, we are very picky about what we eat and drink and were very pleasantly surprised by this little spot. For starters, the salsa was freshly made, the chips were warm and not overly salty and the Queso was traditionally made with not a chunk of velveta in the mix. We inquired about the margarita’s because we’re also picky cocktail drinkers and can’t stand bottled sour mixes. Our waiter told us that the rocks version was made with fresh juice while the frozen used sour mix(which was evident by their fluorescent green color!) So we ordered the rocks version which came in a giant bowl size glass and were happy with them. Fresh lime and orange juice made them very refreshing and with the size of the glass, one was definitely enough! We asked our server what his favorite dish was and what the most popular items were on the menu. His favorite was the spicy tamale shrimp, which two of us ordered and one ordered the popular enchiladas verde. On a whim one of my friends got the chile relleno which was a perfectly fried poblano pepper stuffed with the traditional queso blanco, a hit with the entire group, we would have ordered more if we didn’t have all of the other food coming. But be warned, when they say spicy they mean it! I love hot peppers of any kind and this dish was right at my threshold of heat. Served with warm tortillas, a side salad with guacamole and refried beans it was a delicious, perfectly portioned meal. I tried the enchiladas verde and again very well done, but a little hard to determine as the spicy shrimp had my taste buds on fire! All in all a good experience from the service to the food and drinks. The décor was your typical inexpensive Mexican joint, so don’t go if you are looking for something fancy. Inexpensive, fun and casual. Still thinking about those chile rellenos, we’ll be back!

We eat here all the time, usually with at least five people. The service is always good and attentive. The food is good. It’s not fantastic, but I grew up in Southern California so I have a higher standard for Mexican food. It’s good enough to bring California family when they visit. It actually brings back some memories of being a kid. Only downside is no menudo(the food not the group) Usually they can fit a larger(up to 10 or so) fairly easily. Like any tourist town, depending on time of year and time of week it can be crowded but what good restaurant isn’t? I haven’t had the margaritas there but they have ice cold Tecate and that’s good enough for me. I recommend the fish tacos and the fajitas Tejanas.
