Their food is very good but overly juicy. The macaroni and cheese and cabbage are very good. The curried chicken and curried goat are also very good.
Island Flavours has a tendency to run out of food and soft drinks. The cooler is rarely full. Also, they do not always have plastic knives for take out.
The cabbage has green bean parts and peas in it as well as carrots. I like my cabbage plain or with pork.
Their hours are 11:00 a.m. — 6:00 p.m. so you may want to get there early.

The first thing I asked for was plantains & they told me they wouldn’t have any for a few days. Then I asked for roti and they told me they didn’t have any made. At a Jamaican restaurant??? I took that as a sign and didn’t order anything. My mom ordered the stew chicken and was disappointed at how average in flavor it was.

Great food. But never open at said hours. Usually do not have the specials they promise on the menu. Great potential. Food is magnificent. Just so inconsistent. Haven’t eaten there in four– five months because they never have what they promise or run out of food

This place is da bomb!!! Definitely worth a quick stop in. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing. They have daily specials for both the main course and sides. One friend had the Ox Tail and he said it was great. I had the Curry Shrimp special and it was excellent as well.

What is special about this place is they sorta serve buffet style. You can see what you are ordering before they even order. The food is made fresh all day and the staff is wonderful. I have not been their in a while but I;m sure the place has not changed. Prices are good as too.

Awesome food and wonderful service. I loved the spicy jerked chicken with a side of cabbage with rice and peas. It was so full of flavor and the huge portions made it the best $ 8 I spent on food in a long time!
If you get there early enough on a Monday night be sure to get the stewed oxtail. It is so delicious that it sells out quick!

Me and my Husband had the lunch special Curry Chicken with Mac and Cheese and Cabbage both times and it was AMAZING! I love Curry Chicken and this hit the spot both times! Will continue to visit!

It was my first time trying Caribbean food and this place is AWESOME! I tried the jerk chicken (AMAZING!), cabbage, plantains, and rice! Their tea is delicious as well! Its a family owned restaurant, very friendly, they have their young children helping out which is nice to see and it is affordable. The hours are kind of off (of course everyone wants to go home at the end of a long day) so I do not recommend going towards the close of business.

Great food with great service! The restaurant staff made it look like a family owned place, and their customer service skills put most of the Hampton roads area to shame. The jerk chicken had just the right amount of spice, and the side selection was fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Wow! I had a truly awesome lunch here. I ordered the curry chicken and my husband ordered the jerk chicken. We walked out satisfied and full… All for the amount of 14 dollars! It looked like a family owned establishment, and provided more customer service than any other place I’ve been to in Hampton. I really recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious food. Reasonable prices. They were packed when we first came in and we were the last ones out. The business is family owned. Everyone was in there cleaning and cooking and helping out. We will be back!!! They were all out of patties. I guess they must be really popular.

Oh my goodness. Best Caribbean food I’ve had around the area. I ordered a lunch special to-​go consisting of the spicy jerk chicken, rice & peas, and mac n cheese. The jerk had a mouthwatering combination of spices that had just the right amount of heat. It was at the level of spiciness that will have you craving more. The rice was pretty standard, however rice & peas is always good. The mac n cheese was so cheesy and rich. I’ll be coming back for more jerk!

If you live in Hampton Roads and you’re looking for something different, you have got to check out Island Flavors in Hampton. I love Caribbean food but this place is like nothing I’ve ever tasted. I took the first bite and got chills. Get over here.

Food was so good I was about to start this review cussing, lol. First timer but I was told by a few people to try this place for Carribean cuisine.
I ordered my favorite carribean meal-​stew chicken. not bad at all for a lunch special. You get a lot for the $ 7.12 (including tax) the mac & cheese was cooked just right not be overcooked at all. I was Lil disappointed because they didn’t have just yellow rice as a choice also, I managed to pick thru the peas though. rice was seasoned awesome. Stew chicken was fall off the bone good… Will be back.

We tried these guys out today. My friend and I really love Caribbean food, and the Unilocal reviews looks good — so we ordered the Jerk chicken thighs with red beans and rice mac n cheese.
First off, the chicken is really really good. Took me back to Negril with the wonderful spice and a very prominent smoke ring. The beans and rice are pretty standard, but still very very good. The mac n cheese? Trust me, you better not miss out on this mac n cheese. It’s got TONS of cheddar in it, and it’s nice and creamy.
Do yourself a favor and get on over to Island flavors. We split a full sized lunch entrée, and still couldn’t finish it. Enjoy! Next time I’ll include a photo because I WILL BE BACK!

My first impression when she handed me the bag with my to go order was «Wow that’s heavy!» When I opened the box it was completely filled and then some! If you are hungry this is the place. I got the lunch special with the jerk chicken, macaroni pie and spinach rice! The chicken fell off the bone with the perfect amount of «kick»! I will definitely be back!

One word. Delicious!
I had the lunch special of curry chicken, rice and peas and macaroni pie… everything was amazing… seasoned to perfection and nice sized portions.
I called in the order for pickup and within 10 minutes, my order was ready. Everyone spoke and smiled during my brief stay.
Try it… I can’t wait to go back.

Simple and clean with excellent island food. Had the jerk… which is spicy. .and the curry which is not. The combo with the rice and peas plus cabbage was awesome together. Frankly I could have just eaten a large plate of the sides. I like meat ok, but the sides were so good I almost didn’t need it… service was very frendly and sweet.
The Jamaican pineapple ginger drink was a great topper… if I could have added rum it would have needed an umbrella and made me long for the island sun. :-)
Highly recommend!
I notice a lot of people picking up take out too… apparently popular for that.

I will keep this simple… if you want good food prepared by professional and personable staff, eat here! For about as much time as it takes to get your order at a drive-​thru fast food place, you can get a real meal. And it will cost just as much!
I have come here twice. I had the Jerk Chicken and the stewed oxtails. Both times I had the rice and peas. My wide had the barbeque chicken, also with the rice and peas. All our meals had great flavors, well balanced spices, and it was freshly made.
The menu is small — do a few things great versus a lot of this mediocre. Daily specials add a mix to the menu, so I doubt you will get bored.
The prices are very reasonable… two can ear for under $ 20.
