Sal’s NY Pizza

Was trying to find a place close to where my appointment was and since I had been here once for pizza I decided to go here for pasta.
Service: very friendly and prompt
Food:
Side salad; tasty and large
Bread; burned, dry, stale
Spaghetti and Meatballs;
1. huge portion
2. processed, frozen meatballs
3. spaghetti was baked and swimming in water
4. sauce was too sweet
To boot when I pulled into the parking lot of about 75 spots, maybe 15 being filled, I picked an end spot so that I could pull my car close to the curb to avoid dinks. And literally one second later a woman, out of nowhere, zooms right next to me so close that it made it very difficult for me to continue to finish parking. I honked several times but she totally ignored me, (mind you, I had parked far away, and there were like 60 EMPTY spaces much closer!).
As she gets out of her car, I roll down my window and say, «really? there are literally dozens of other spots in the lot that are empty but you had to park right on top of me and make it very difficult for me to finish parking». And you know what the entitled jerk said?
«You have issues»!!!

You’re missing out on this place!
Wow. So amazingly good! I ordered delivery for the first time to try out a new place since I just moved here. The food is amazing. Cheap! And you get a lot of it!
Delivery driver was very nice. Ordered through Unilocal.Said 45 minutes but came before that.

I was a little worried about placing an order here with so many recent negative reviews. I ordered a side salad & ham & pineapple calzone for under $ 15. When I called for delivery, they said 30 – 40 minutes and they arrived in about 25. My salad was fresh and the shredded cheese wasn’t gooey. The flavor of the calzone was delicious. It was diced ham instead of sliced luncheon meat so it had good flavor. Nice proportion of cheese go topping. It wasn’t soggy and the beat part was the seasoning & grated parmesan on top. I definitely recommend them & will order again in the future. Only negative thing to say is that they didn’t include plastic silverware or napkins.

It was the first time here for me. I ordered a large pepperoni and a large Stromboli and neither was large. It was the worst 2 Italian items I have ever ordered from a restaurant, The pizza was burnt and dry and the Stromboli was not done. I called and let them know in a professional manner and they hung up on me. Go to Little Creasers if you want better pizza… that’s sad. Don’t let the picture up top fool you.
Well…I’ve waited 24 hrs. and they still haven’t returned my call. Maybe they will answer to the BBB.

This place was a favorite go to spot for my boyfriend & I. The young lady working tonight was very unprofessional & lacking quality service. I’m not sure if we will be back because great consistent service keeps us going back to places but the pasta is fairly good so we may consider.

Just ordered for delivery while staying at the Hampton inn down the road. It was probably the last delivery of the night. Normally those orders are obviously rushed but with how good the food is, how well prepared the food is, and how quickly it was delivered is why I would recommend sal’s at any time of day. When you get a calzone delivered by a guy who looks like he is touring with phish at the end of shift and it’s good enough to write a Unilocal review it is worth your time.

My husband and I tried this pizza out for the first time this past Sunday. They have good deals, very affordable and the pizza is delicious. Their slices are thin sliced but a decent size and again, the Lunch/​Dinner Specials are awesome if you are looking for a quick bite. We ended up taking a menu for the house because they do deliver and their variety is much ranging from pasta, salad, pizzas. The only off thing is that there’s just a lot of sketch people that hang around the surrounding area so there’s just a bunch of strange walking in and out (made me feel a little uncomfortable) but again, the main reason why I was there (THE FOOD) surpass it all! Definitely will go again, but most likely it will be for delivery lol.

As a Unilocal Elite 2015 member, I have given this place significant great reviews based on their good pizza, good customer service and fast service. However, of the past few years, I have to totally reclaim my positive reviews of this place in regaurds to the good people of our community who will eat here.
Tonight, the first day of the Memorial Day weekend, I decided to order from Sal’s for a late night meal for my wife and I after a long day. This was a BIG mistake!
Called for delivery asking for a basic pepperoni, mushroom and onion pizza. With a few extra toppings I was expecting the pizza to run around $ 20 based on the menu (that was delivered to my home) of .50 per extra topping. Instead of getting a price of around $ 20, they told me it would be about $ 28 dollars because now all of sudden extra toppings are $ 2.00 each. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? $ 2.00 per extra topping? I hung up. Called back anyway, because my wife was really hungry. OK, this time I ordered a smaller pizza with the same toppings — this time it came to about $ 26. Way off what the menu said for .50 per extra topping. Anyway I ordered the pizza with two extra toppings. Told them I wanted it WELL DONE because they have a bad problem of undergoing pizza and specifically wings. I also told them the last couple of times I went there or ordered for delivery, they got my order wrong by not completing my FULL order. They forgot my garlic knots and other extra items each time. Been noticing the closer toward closing time for this place, the less quality of food. Tonight my pizza dough was like water, the toppings were lute warm like they were at room temperature. They told me that my order would be delivered in about 30 – 35 mins, I got it in 15 mins at my house. I knew it had to be wrong… it was. Dough was like water, toppings were under-​cooked after asking for well done. I order half toppings on one side of the prize and original toppings on the other half for my wife. Well, my wife’s side had hardly anything and mine was packed with undercooked toppings. It is obvious the closer toward closing time, the less quality of your meal you will get in my humble opinion. The last time they forgot my garlic knots, I told them about that tonight in anticipation of them correcting that problem… they did not correct it.
Overall the pizza was by far the worst pizza I’ve ever had from them. I would have been better going to the grocery store and getting a store bought pizza. I recommend not going to this place on the weekends or when it is busy or close to closing time. Your food will NOT be cooked to your order and it will not live up to the quality of New York Style pizza. Thhis place is an embarrassment to the NY Pizza’s name and I highly recommend not going there until they get their stuff together. IM DONE WITH SAL’S NY PIZZA IN HAMPTON, VIRGINIA!!!

Ordered Buffalo wings and Cheese pizza for pickup. Friday night. A bit busy and a little disorganized. Everyone was friendly. When I arrived home, 15 minutes later, I had a pepperoni pizza (not cheese) and my wings. I ate the pizza as is. The food was pretty good. Pizza was OK not great… underwhelmed given the other reviews here. Wing were spicy, saucy and tasted great. I’ll try the place one more time.

I’m kind of a pizza snob… Being from NYC I grew up with my choice of the best pizza you’ll ever eat. Sal’s NY Pizza is the only pizza I will eat outside of NYC. Enough said! My favorite is a slice of cheese with garlic powder… the wings are pretty good too.
Must try this place.

This place is a nice little find if you want some fast pizza. Solid steak and cheese sub and a pretty good Stromboli. Wings had a ok flavor and the salad was your typical pizza joint salad. They have a decent slice. I would return.

By far, best pizza in Hampton Roads area. Awesome staff, great ingredients, clean, nothing at all bad to say here. Just order it.

Place was clean, service was good. No thought was given to the ambience. The pizza was crunchy and the sauce was meager (like some one else mentioned).

Best pizza around the Hampton area. However the could be a little more generous on the sauce! It’s a little scarce.

This place is as good as it gets. Being from up north we are very picky about the pizza we eat. We refuse to eat from any pizza chain restaurant because we find them disgusting. Every other pizza place we tried here have been bland disappointment and left us unfulfilled. Sal’s pizza sauce is delicious and seasoned; it doesn’t have that bland, tomato paste, straight from the can taste that the other pizza places around here have. All of the flavors just flow together and makes you want to eat an entire box. Their fries and wings (nice and crispy) are quite delicious as well. Bonus: the staff are very friendly.

I always enjoy their pizza. I live up the St and it comes fast and hot.. Excellent crust. Great cheese and good toppings.. Only other thing I order is Philly steak subs and those are OK. Way Better than pizza Hut or dominoes Imo.

Definitely nothing to write home about. I have had both pizza and pasta from Sals and they both leave much to be desired.
Pizza was just ok at best. The sauce is very bland as is the crust. The meatballs in the spaghetti dish were seriously awful and they are suuuuuper slow. Both times I’ve gone the wait was over 30 minutes and they were not busy.
I want to love this place because they are literally within walking distance of my house but sadly I cannot.

I’ve driven by this place many times and wondered just how good their pizza is. Their menu is pretty big ranging from pasta to cheesesteaks to pizzas. I zeroed in on the pizza lunch specials. One or two slices with toppings (or just cheese of course) with a soda. I chose 2 slices with 3 toppings and a soda for 8 dollars (don’t remember the exact price).

The crust: was a little thick and crunchy. Don’t get me wrong, It was good but I was hoping for the floppy thin New York style that had to be folded in half to eat.
The toppings: real good and fresh.
I’d be willing to give them another go since they’re real close to where I work in Hampton. Maybe a whole pizza would be better since when you order slices they’re cooked and then reheated to order with your toppings.
We shall see!

Dough was bland and toppings were sparse. The sauce was mediocre.
Definitely had some stomach issues afterwards. Prob not going to visit again.

Everything here was good. You know how some late night employees act like they don’t want you there? (I understand but still) well they were the opposite ! Very welcoming and kind. It’s a small place if you go in to eat but it’s got a nice small set up and I loved the night time vibe. It’s very chill. The foods pretty good too. I only had the pepperoni pizza but I have no complaints ;-)
