Miso has really good food with lots of variety and friendly staff. The place itself is really charming even though it is a tight fit. The one thing I didn’t like was that they had no teriyaki sauce but a ton of teriyaki meals

AMBIANCE: This is a very cute restaurant. It’s got orange walls too! I might be biased but I love it. Bar space? Plenty of big and small tables as well. Dim lighting. I can tell this would be a great date location. LOCATION: Right off the side of the road, literally. There’s about 6 spots out front that you can pull directly into from the main street.(I can’t imagine how people back out when there’s tons of traffic.) it’s easy to find, again, orange! And it is a stand alone building with parking in the front and back. SERVICE: Quick and friendly service. I came right after the lunch rush so it was not crowded. I saw a lot of couples. Actually, as I am typing this up, more people are coming in, maybe I didn’t beat the rush. FOOD: The menu is very basic and nothing is unique about it, but that’s not a bad thing. Simple is good. Ironically, there doesn’t seem to be a miso soup on the menu to order separately. Maybe I can just ask for it?! I ordered the calamari and an angel hair roll. Calamari and there were about 7 – 8 pieces. They were definitely crunchy but that’s about it. Their dipping sauce was very bland. Their sushi roll was delicious flavor wise. It came out warm and was presented very nicely. Some critiques are for the tightness of the roll. I would said I’m an avid chopstick user and usually pretty light with them but each piece I picked up seem to crumble before I could get it into my mouth. Not only that but about halfway through my roll I realized the proportions of scallop to cucumber to avocado was off. I had barely any scallop and the cucumber and avocado doubled the portion, by the end of the roll, it got back to a more decent sized scallop. But again, flavors were great and I guess I don’t mind it being partially vegetarian. PRICING: Very reasonable prices for these rolls. ~$ 5/regular roll. ~$ 8/house rolls. ~$ 12/chef specialty rolls.

Really stoked to have a new sushi joint thrown into the mix of central pa that doesn’t include the word Tokyo in the title and or have giant fire flashes at the hibachi grill going off every 5 minutes. Not that I don’t love that– but Miso is clean friendly and tasty! And they stick to sushi. That’s good because it’s what they’re good at. I had normal salmon roll and TNT and both were fantastic. My husband got tuna and California roll and was pleasantly surprised at the portions and the price. We will be back soon!

Ever since I moved to the Harrisburg area, I’ve been looking for some good sushi that doesn’t break the bank. I think I found it here at Miso. Excellent miso soup(they have it in their name, it would be terrible if it WASN’T good!!), and chicken teriyaki, which is priced pretty well for lunch. I thought the Tuna Tataki was excellent, though my husband felt it had a tad too much pepper. Either way, I think this is the place I’ll be going when I want my Japanese food/sushi fix.

We just moved here from California. We were missing sushi. The salmon sashimi-sushi was AMAZING! And the rolls(we had black sand) and T-nT which were also fantastic. I’m not a huge fan of fried /tempura rolls but husband loved it. Staff was laid back and friendly. We went on a rainy weekday at lunch time. I think we will make this our regular sushi spot

Wow was I surprised! I know this place has plenty of awards to it but that’s not how I determine where to eat. Not only do they have a wide variety of specialty rolls but their fish is fresh — let me emphasize that again… Their fish is fresh!!! We not only had a great customer service experience, our wait was a little long so our waiter let us try half the house roll for free, but our checks we’re super reasonable too! I’ll definitely have to come here again and become a regular~ We got the spider roll, aloha roll, eel roll, fried rice, and chirashi dinner — super fresh I recommend them all!

Tucked off of Jonestown Rd is an unsuspected Harrisburg hotspot — MISOSUSHI. This sushi is the closest thing to LA worthy sushi you will find in Central PA. We ordered take-out so I will have to amend this when we dine in but here is how our meal progressed. We started with the seaweed salad — a true mark of an excellent sushi find. Perfectly seasoned with a light sesame oil dressing, the blanched seaweed and crisp cucumber set the tone for the meal. We then ordered four standard rolls:(1) spicy California,(2) spicy salmon,(3) volcano special, and(4) the house special. Each roll was exceptional and artfully crafted. However, the star of the show was the volcano special roll. Just picture this: salmon wrapped spicy crab and cilantro, tempura fried, and then topped with real crab meat and diced mango and dressed with homemade wasabi sauce and sweet chili sauce. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, is that even real life? Yes my friends, it is. It is an ABSOLUTEMUST. Perfection in a roll. Can’t wait to dine-in in our next visit and try some more adventurous rolls.

Very pleasant sushi place. It’s cozy, and the sushi was pretty good! I did take out, and I plan on updating this review. I had their shrimp wonton, which had good dumplings. Thin and slippery! The broth had a miso after taste which I thought was odd, but this IS a Japanese restaurant. I had their roll. Sorry, I dont remember the name. It was very tasty and it apparently did not kontain krab with a k! It had salmon, avocado and tempura shrimp. The roll was tasty though personally I felt it had a bit too much rice, but it was a giant circle nearly 2 in in diameter, sliced thin. They did not skimp on the meat inside. I will come here again!

When I go to a restaurant it’s about the whole experience. Miso gave me pretty mixed feelings. Overall the food was great and waaaay reasonably priced. The specialty rolls would easily have cost at least $ 3 more elsewhere. So all of that was super positive. Where they lost me was the ambiance. Reclaimed house cool, but carpets just don’t belong in restaurants. It was a worn and dingy industrial carpet tile past its prime. The bathroom lighting was less candescent than a candle with a poor ceiling fixture. No strange smells anywhere though. I thought some of the rolls were unique enough to warrant a special return trip which would be way out of my way. Hopefully management will try to stay more attentive to housekeeping.

Was in town and came back based on my previous experience. This time things were dramatically different. Ordered the sashimi combo(no octopus) and ikura sushi. Soup and salad came out at the same time which always makes me bananas. Does anyone understand pacing? Not 30 seconds later one of the sushi chefs comes around from the bar with my entrée. I told him I had not even started my soup or salad and he makes a face while plopping my dinner down on top of the fish case. Now I know I have to eat quickly because the fish is laying out in the open. I finish my soup and salad and another person brings over my meal. I notice two things, one, they gave me octopus, and two, the ikura is bad. The eggs are all ruptured and it smells like shit. I tell them to take the ikura back and do not give me a substitue, I then tell the waitress I asked for no octopus and she takes it back. The entrée returns a few seconds later with 3 more pieces of slamon, now I have 7. Hey, jackasses, how about switching it for something else? You know, maybe some yellowtail or mackeral? Obviously no one gives a damn in this place and the next time I am back in the Harrisburg area I will most certainly dine elsewhere.

The best, freshest sushi around in the area! Owned by the same family that runs Sapporo East on the west shore, I was thrilled when they opened a sushi bar in the Harrisburg area. I’ve since moved about 30 minutes outside the area, but still stop in about once a week for sushi. Their lunch specials can’t be beat and come with complimentary miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. Parking is a bit cramped and you might have to wait for a seat if it’s prime dinner time, but we’ve never waited more than 15 minutes. Staff is very friendly and sometimes provides samples of new rolls to try on the house! If it’s your first time trying sushi they are more than happy to recommend some options anyone would enjoy. There are also a few tempura and hibachi options for those who might not be in a sushi mood. Shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura are two of my personal favorites.

I’m torn between giving either a one star or a two star review. I giving it a two star rating only because their prices are cheap. Only having one night in Harrisburg left me struggling to find a great place for dinner. I wasn’t expecting 5 star Michelin quality but I was expecting better. Once I decided I was in the mood for sushi I took to Unilocal to help find my spot. I was surprised that I couldn’t find any reviews for any of the sushi places in the area done by Elite Unilocalers. Not that Elite reviews are the end all be all for Unilocal reviews but typically these are people who dine out often/are foodies. Regardless, I saw these place had high reviews and took the plunge. The service was good but bordering on hovering. Within being sat at the sushi counter I was approached by three different waiters all within two minutes asking for my order. I had barely cracked up on the menu at that point. Sitting at the counter I noticed that some of the fish in the window looked really dry so I avoided those rolls. I ended up getting the Black Dragon, Volcano roll and the Angel Hair Roll. The only one that was even ok was the Black Dragon. I was starving by the time I got there and couldn’t even eat the Angel Hair roll. Their house sauce just tasted rancid and I ended up not even eating that one. The Volcano roll’s spicy crab was barely any better. I’m not sure what was in the spicy crab(maybe the spicy house sauce) but it had an odd flavor. All in all, I wish I would have skipped this place and hit up McDonald’s instead.

I’ve been here several times and the quality of food and service is always great. This last visit, though, we had 2 of the 4 rolls fall apart on us. My husband got the rock n roll– crab, calamari, and salmon wrapped and tempura fried. That was a delicious roll! He also got the sunrise roll– eel, shrimp, cucumber, avocado and egg. It was a yummy combination, but it was wrapped too loosely and fell apart – making it impossible to eat with chopsticks. I got the Caribbean roll– coconut shrimp and mango topped with spicy crab and avocado. Again, this was delicious, but the top & bottom separated with almost every bite. I had better luck with the Chesapeake roll– real crab, shrimp tempura with cucumber and avocado – fabulous! One thing I really like about this place is they specify on the menu which rolls have«crab stick» and which have real crab. The edamame here is perfect and there is salt on most of the beans. As a byob place, this is a nice choice for dining. It can be loud at times because it is a small place.

The thing I love about sushi is that you have to shove your mouth full of food and it’s completely acceptable. And that’s not a problem here because the sushi is top notch, possibly the best in the Harrisburg area. I’ve compared seaweed salad and this place has my favorite. My daughter and I sat at the sushi bar and were treated to half a flamingo role on the house. It was delicious. The angel hair roll is amazing, as well as the Chessapeake. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

We ordered what we thought was very little, but left with boxes of food. They even gave us a complimentary Spring Roll. Everything was good and the prices were reasonable. Notably, unlike most places, the water here was crisp and refreshing. I recommend this place to anyone who likes this type of cuisine. You’ll be more than satisfied(except perhaps about the parking).
