Delicious pub food. Curious server. Got the turkey, bacon cheddar and it arrived quick. Not a large beer selection, but I’m definitely coming back.

I’ve never felt a need to write a review on BB bc they have never let me down in the past. However we took some friends (their first time) last night only to be extremely disappointed. The hostess got distracted (SHE ADMITTED WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY) and told us to «come on» to our seats in a high pitched, dog command. She apologized for sounding just as that without us saying a word. Our waitress «essence» left much to be desired. My drink went completely empty before being refilled, service was EXTREMELY slow considering the restaurant was not full. She forgot to bring our friends salad before her meal, and did not bring my husband a copy of his receipt to sign, so we will have to keep watch to be sure he was not double charged! The food was great as normal, however VERY disappointed that our crab dip was served with chips instead of the usual baguette. EXTREMELY unhappy with the service and makes us not want to go back for a while! Also their shorts should be somewhat longer, as if we wanted to eat at hooters and see some skin we would go their instead!

Came in a big group of adults and kids and they were very accommodating. Had a good meal, fun service and reasonable prices. I would definetly recommend if you’re in the neighborhood!

Just average food. Booths are in poor condition. Potato soup salty. Enjoyed corn dog appetizers — hot and fresh.

We used to love the Beanery, like ate there once a week loved it, but the quality has gone downhill. The wait staff isn’t as experienced or attentive and the quality of the food has definitely diminished… Mark also made the best drinks! So sad that we don’t enjoy our experience there anymore, hopefully it will redeem itself soon!

Ehh… Food is okay. Our waiter Dustin was nice. The weird thing was the hostess with short blonde hair pacing the restaurant screaming into her phone the whole thirty minutes we were there. Also, no beans???

Really disappointed with my experience here. We stood at the door for at least 10 minutes without anyone even noticing we were there. We can in the middle of lunch so you’d think that the staff would be prepared to seat & serve. We walked out without eating & probably won’t be back to try the food.

Only go there for drinks & the music. Food is not worth it. My husbands fries tasted like Arby’s without the seasoning. My baked potato was a reheated one in the microwave (you know that taste). And my steak, I could hardly cut. The waiter was however pleasant but he should have seen I left over half my steak and did not want a box.

Stopped on the recommendation of the Sleep Inn fellow. I asked for a locally owned (non-​chain) place to grab eats before checking in.
Easy to get to from 81.
They offer local beer. We are at the bar and the staff was helpful and friendly (on a Wednesday night).
Dan enjoyed his sugar glazed salmon, mac n’ cheese with broccoli. I had to try their signature sandwich it was a grilled cheese with baked beans. I didn’t need the top piece of bread. They make the beans in house. Yummy!

I have been here many times and never had a bad meal until last night. Overcooked steak that isn’t steak and brown lettuce on the salad just doesn’t cut it for me. Maybe it’s because I went on a Monday?
But the waitress was super nice, and every other meal has been wonderful, so I will cut some slack. Overall, good food, good price, good service.

Just go, don’t waste your time. I had a long, flaming review typed but erased it in the spirit of being nice. Trust me, I don’t work at the place like the other reviewers must, just go somewhere else, you will thank me.

Nothing special. Staff was attentive. Had the haddock that was battered and fried. Meh. Fries were good. Chicken fingers just like everyone else.

My friend and I stopped at Boston Beanery Restaurant & Tavern on our way to a camp in Harrisburg, VA on 6÷12÷15. The service at this restaurant was very good. I thought the ambiance of the restaurant was also very comfortable. It felt like the places I use to hang out in after a night of drinking in college.
The food (had the crab cake and «instant» mashed potatoes) was meh. The food was edible but forgettable. My friend also was disappointed by her crab cake and thought her meal tasted frozen. I cannot entirely knock the restaurant for freezing their food (know it is somewhat standard practice). I fully admint my friend and I have become «spoiled» by the great restaurants in the metro DC area (e.g. there is a awards ceremony for restaurants in the metro DC area named the Rammy’s).
After we mentioned we were unhappy with the quality of the food, the manager took off my friend’s meal from the bill.
In a nutshell, service was good to excellent but the quality of the food was meh compared to dining experiences I have had in other causal restaurants.

I was pretty impressed with the food and service we received at this place after JMU’s graduation. They were one of the few restaurants not completely booked and were able to seat us fast (which I was a little weary about) but it turned out to be a great experience. They quickly seated our party of ten upon arrival and our waiter seemed very friendly, patient, and helpful throughout the dining experience.
I kept it simple and ordered a chicken caesar salad because I was a little hot and tired from graduation, so I went with something on the lighter side. The chicken is grilled with cajun seasoning which gave the salad an extra kick! The dressing wasn’t overwhelming and the bread stick was perfectly baked. I also tried some of the curly fries and fried shrimp from a family member’s plate and I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size!
As for drinks and dessert, they had a $ 5 sangria special on Saturday’s which is nice to find a place with drink specials on a Saturday (especially my favorite drink!) and it was very tasty. Between the table, we ordered key lime pie, brownie sundae, and fried cheesecake. The brownie was the largest size i’ve ever seen served in a restaurant, but it was pretty dry to me and I would’n’t recommend ordering that. The other two desserts were pretty good!
I would also recommend trying the sandwiches, which everyone raved about! Prices were also great, which seemed appropriate being that it was a pub in a college town.

Spent a week in Harrisonburg on business. Found Boston Beanery by accident, stopped in and loved it. Went back several times. Nice menu selections with some unique items. All good and service was excellent. Very friendly. Hope to see more of these restaurants.

Great staff, very attentive and nice waitress. I had the Pub Burger with curley fries and this is one of the best burgers I have had in a very, very long time! Next time I come through Harrisonburg I’ll definitely stop by again!

Very pleasant atmosphere. TVs on but quiet. Nice brick walls good drink specials and everyone is friendly.
Our favorite was the fried haddock in the fish and chips. And Ali thinks the French onion soup was good too.

Burger was on point. Worth the price of admission. Clam chowder and boneless wings were good. Above bar quality, but nothing to brag about. Service was polite and timely.

While I was going to JMU I found out about this place. I only wish I had found out about it sooner so I could’ve been going all along!
Their food is really good. This place looks like what I was imagine a standard irish pub tries to go for.
I typically get the Monte Cristo sandwich with fries and the queso dip to start. It’s always amazing and it is my favorite. I have gotten a salad before and other sandwiches which were always good but I prefer my favorite. They also have some good soups and chowder.
I’m not a drinker but they have plenty of beer.
I’ve moved away from Harrisonburg but whenever I visit JMU for football games or roommate reunions or sorority events I make it a point to eat lunch or dinner here at least once.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Harrisonburg.
