After watching«that movie» a few years back, I always wondered what the hype was with this place. Eating a bunch of mini-burgers always intrigued me. But, living thousands of miles, I knew I would have to temper that curiousness. A few years later, I find myself on a family trip to the East Coast. We started in Virginia, then went thru Washington DC, Philly, and NYC. It was on our road trip to Albany that I found myself hungry. Then, while driving, I remembered I always wanted to try White Castle. I asked my wife to «Yelp it» and she found one only 2 miles away! But, we just passed it. Making a u-turn on that State Route 17 isn’t a easy feat, but after waiting a few years, I knew I had to risk it! LOL. The verdict? Meh. Wasn’t horrible. Wasn’t great. Satisfying like in the movie? Not really? But, I will say, for some odd reason, I liked the chicken RINGS! These were for the kids, but they were so good, I ended up getting a few more orders for the kids AND adults. They taste was good, but it was just fun to eat, I guess. Now, for the burgers, I love how they have different varieties: with cheese, without cheese, with jalapenos, with bacon, etc. I went with… well, all of those. Duh! They’re small enough to where you can eat a few and not feel like a glutton. Like I said, they weren’t bad, but I didn’t see what the hype was about. Not sure if it was just the location or what. Although, I am glad I can now cross it off my bucket list. Food on my bucket list? Yeah, i know. What can I say…

It’s White Castle and its delicious. Very tasty sliders. Which I crave sometimes. Hate the fries tasteless and undercooked. Not a fan of anything the serve besides the sliders. The frozen supermarket White Castles don’t compare. Gotta have the real thing

Worst slider ever. The interiors are shady and the service as sloppy as everything on the menu. Wouldn’t recommend

Had The Original, tasted old and stale(actually killed my appetite) and I’ve never had fries that bad abs soggy before The place looks like a big public toilet Overhyped, oh yes. Maybe after all, they didn’t really go to White Castle. Or just maybe, just maybe, a different one.

White Castle may not be the best or healthiest place to eat but boy, if it’s after a concert or late at night and you want a quick bite to eat it’s five stars all the way. The later it gets the better they taste.

If u come here, don’t go to the drive thru. Their workers have a hard of hearing and they can’t speak English well. U ask for an order of chicken ring sandwich and they repeated chicken wing. WTH! White Castle don’t even served chickens wings!

Whether it’s a late night guilty pleasure or a broke man’s feast White Castle sliders always hit the spot. Been coming here since I was younger. Though the intro is a lot better than the outro. I’m not 100% sure on this but as far as I understand some fast food places use papain as a meat tenderizer. Papain is a digestive enzyme derived from papaya. This could be the culprit that results in the pa-pain some experience after eating the infamous murder burger. Like I said I’m not 100% that White Castle uses papain as a meat tenderizer but it would be a reasonable explanation to White Castle’s… mhmm… digestive stimulation. For some reason the double bacon cheesburger gave me the worst reaction internally. But then again reading back what I just wrote I’m not surprised. All in all not the best sliders but a good late night and or last resort for«what you crave». If you want higher quality sliders TGI Fridays and Houlihans are right next door. Or u can take a short drive up north to Hackensack and get White Manna which is much better than all 3 places. White Castle; it truly is what it is!

Friendly place, can’t say they are extremely clean. They seem to run out of wheat bread for breakfast but quickly compensated with buns.

First time at a White Castle establishment and yes I know they are everywhere up north but hey I’ve only had the frozen ones from the supermarket so I had to try it. Straight to the food: it’s always better to eat something not microwaved and these burgers obviously tasted fresher than the packaged ones not to mention whenever I eat the store bought ones, the buns always gets hard from the microwaves exposure. The pickle added was a nice touch that complemented the burger. I got 4 single cheeseburgers, two jalapeño sliders(which I could have done without), and loaded cheese fries which were gooey and cheesy but they got old quick. Nevertheless, my first experience proved to be delicious and soothed my craving appetite after driving up 95 traffic for hours. If I went back I’d try more options they had like the chicken sliders or mozz sticks. Bottom line, White Castle tasted just how I thought it would, being a fresher version of what I was used to, which isn’t a bad thing at all, just don’t think I could eat there every day!

I went here on Sunday at 1pm which was my first time at a White Castle. The place looks like it could use a second scrubbing. I ordered the original slider combo as well as jalapeño slider and grilled chicken Italiano slider. Quite frankly, everything tasted the same. I did feel guilty with all the cardboard I had to throw out afterwards since every bite is individually wrapped.

I am from Arizona and we only have frozen White Castle in the grocery store. Soon as I get off the plain this is my stop. I hit it up a few times while visiting the in-laws. I enjoy it maybe because we don’t have it. They should put a White Castle in Arizona it would do so well!

Man that slider was amazing! It melts in your mouth, great mix of fried onions, melted cheese, pickle, and the steamed bun from cooking the patty. Amazing. I’ve been going to White Castle forever the tri state are gets it right! I’ve been do the Ohio White Castle taste completely different and they put mustard on it. It’s a shame White Castle didn’t have more chains up. I really don’t understand all the negative feedback, slider was amazing, the staff was very friendly, courteous and cracked some jokes to lighten the mood. Its a classic, if your a west coast hater, in and out burger doesn’t have a famous movie about a bunch of stoners driving to that joint! Long Live White Castle!

These burgers were banging going down but a disaster coming back out. There is a reason why they call them«Murder Burgers». I ate these before a long road trip and I had to make several stops. Just gross.

4 words… Go Back to California White Castle is a gem, it’s not supposed to taste like other burgers, it’s not supposed to be gourmet, it’s not supposed to be real. It’s supposed to be salty, oniony, give you gas and make you feel lighter in the morning. I love White Castle, always have and always will. Of course In and Out is better, but it’s a different experience. When you want a hefty burger, you can go somewhere else, when you want a slightly steamed mini slider(or 15) you get White Castle. Love these little treasure for what they are.

Another shattered dream! So being from California, one of the first things you want to experience is White Castle. After the Harold & Kumar movie, I’m pretty sure people from all over have flocked to the motherland of these tiny burgers to check out the hype. My boyfriend, friend and I were staying in Rutherford, NJ and White Castle was literally 5mins away. We decided to check it out. Why travel 3,000 miles and not see what all the commotion was about?! As we pulled up to the all white brick and mortar«Castle», my eyes got big with excitement. Getting out of the car was like the scene from the Harold & Kumar movie, «We FINALLY made it!» The décor was not warm and inviting. Just you’re regular fast food joint, turned into a little castle. We ended up sharing a meal that cost about $ 21 which came with 10 burgers, fries and chicken rings(yummy chicken rings that looked like onion rings, but not so greasy). Unfortunately, we hyped up White Castle for ourselves. The only difference between the freshly made burgers and the box of frozen burgers you can get from the grocery store, were the pickles. There’s really no difference between the freshly bought and store bought burgers.

Being from California, the only White Castle experience I’ve had comes from the frozen section of my grocery store and Harold & Kumar. Visiting the East Coast for a friend’s wedding, I had to get it from the source. This place is pretty run down. Not exactly the kind of place you’d want to hang out for a while. The worker taking my order was really rude and I had to repeat my order 3 times for her to register what I was saying. I was surprised that it tastes the same as the frozen ones, just a tad bit fresher. Might just be the addition of pickles. You’re not missing much if you just get the frozen ones and microwave it at home and you’ll definitely be a lot more comfortable! My friends say it’s not exactly a place that you go while completely sober. Guess that was my mistake. P. S. Make sure you call dibs on the bathroom for the rest of the day. You’ll need it.

I love White Castle for a variety of reasons: 1. I always weigh less the next morning after eating it. 2. The crispy spicy jalapeño sliders are the perfect amount of spicy and are so delicious. 3. I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my husband here every year and they do such a great job with this. You make a reservation; they put out table cloths and candles. It’s epic. Oh, and we BYO which is fantastic. On the fast food scale — White Castle is at the top!

The first fast food I ever ate was at White Castles. As a kid, the family would go to the North Bergen White Castle. As I got older(teens and early 20’s) I used to eat at Whitie’s quite often. After a night of drinking, why not punish yourself a little more by eating 10 cheeseburgers and onion rings at Castle? I still like White Castle. I don’t eat them too often but I love the cheeseburger with onions. I used to love their shoestring fries, unfortunately, they changed over to crinkle cut many years ago.

I think this is the one from the movie that they finally find right at the end of the first one, where NPH is inside. But I’m not sure. Idk WHY I like these little burgers so much, but theyr’e tasty enough for me. Definitely not gourmet and possibly even a step below your regular fast food joint, but good nonetheless :) Unfortunately, and maybe fortunately, I don’t get WC too often, since I live on the west coast, and I avoid buying them from the grocery store too often. But you at least gotta try it once and see if it’s your thing :) Staff was nice, and only thing that’s tough is that it’s RIGHT off of the 17, which always makes me a little nervous, but it’s accessible and easy to get to.
