Some of the best food in Hickory! Exceptional service. We ordered the half chicken to split and the went out of their way to cut it in half and split the sides up and put them on two plates. No split plate charge. I can’t really say enough about this place. Oh and the brunch is amazing.

I’ve been here a few times and the service was great and the food was ok. I think if you’re looking to taste a variety of beers and deserts, then this is the place for you. They also have a store attached to the restaurant that sells plenty of different cheeses. Prices are great and ambiance is very laid back.

Great service, atmosphere and food. I had the Italian chicken and dumplings which was pretty good. The cauliflower fritters and scratch made breadsticks were super yummy! I also had a birthday cake cake pop which was delightful.

Stopped in here for the first time tonight, after a long day of renovating a new home. We were passing through the area and decide to eat, went in and sat for 15 minutes without anyone ever coming to out tables. Multiple servers walked past us, and not one came up to our empty table. I travel and eat out for the majority of my meals, this was the worst service I’ve ever had. Complete waste of my time.

Great menu. Best of all is the cheesecake. Great local flavor with good service. They are also one of the few good restaurants in town with outdoor seating. The beer selection is top notch.

Great food, pricey, but great. Disappointed that they were out of the risotto. On a busy Saturday night, this shouldn’t have happened.

Great burgers and beers! We decided to go here after we smelled the grill from the street. The fire and smoke burger was so tasty and we also got a pizza. Both were delicious but to top it off they have about 50 beer taps! We got a flight to enjoy with our food. It was a great find

Great place to go to get a beer. Wish the staff would better explain the beers when you have a question. Haven’t had any of their food. Dining room/bar always seems toasty when I come in.

Mother’s Day is busy for restaurants, but the speed of service and food quality today at OHS was ridiculous. A reservation with prompt seating seemed like a good start, but we waited an hour and ten minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, it was both overcooked AND cold. Completely disappointing and nobody seemed to care. We didn’t complain, like the table behind us did, but they should have made an apology especially after some of our dishes needed reheating. Very lackluster food and service. Will not return.

They have great, fresh food. The restaurant is next to the railroad track so that it is interesting(and scary) as a train passes by. :-)

**Review is for the Marketplace and Bar only** Olde Hickory Station is a really cool refurbished train station and part of the same family of restaurants and taprooms as Olde Hickory Taproom. Hmmm. I bet you’ll never guess what beer they serve… ding ding ding… you’re right! Olde Hickory Brewery. It doesn’t stop there, because they do have tons of other delicious draft selections too. However, when in Rome(aka Hickory) try Death By Hops, Black Raven and Hickory Stick, some of their better brews in my opinion. This place is pretty massive with some really cool architecture, lighting and a classic wooden bar. The bar and restaurant are to your right when you enter and the Marketplace is to your left. I was impressed to find a well curated selection of wines and beers. I counted at least four whole Prosciutto di Parmas in the deli cases which form a neat rectangle at the center. Manchego cheese, 2 year aged Gouda, fresh bread, a large assortment of pastries, coffee drinks made to order — those are only some of the items you can get here. Game of Thrones beer? Iron Maiden Trooper beer? Cool. Picked up a growler of Black Raven for only $ 16 and some Fullsteam Working Man’s Lunch. Tried some cream puffs and a piece of their Carnegie Deli Cheesecake along with a coffee. The cream puffs were excellent and the cheesecake was just okay; not sure if it was their own version or if they actually had it shipped from NY. Regardless, my slice had been precut, and was therefore dried out and had a little refrigerator taste to it. Although some of their deli items are a little pricey, it’s still a cool place to have lunch, a beer or just to peruse the market. I definitely do want to come back for a meal in the restaurant; all the pcitures of food I’ve seen look pretty amazing.

The best thing about this place, for me, was how much my dad enjoyed it. It’s not a place I would be a regular at if I lived closer, but for a meeting spot with my parents it was perfect. Unfortunately, I think I enjoyed everyone else’s dish more than my own. I got a burger, being pretty excited about its bacon content, but it wasn’t hot. It was warm in the middle, but they were busy so I didn’t want to ask for it to be warmed up completely. It was still yummy, though, and I still ate it all. The boy got the lasagna, delicious and large portioned. Dad got stuffed chicken breast with veggies and risotto, while mom enjoyed the fried oyster salad. Dessert was cake and tiramisu, yum! Dad already spoke of coming again next time around, so we will be back again.

If I could score zero stars I would. The waitresses are very rude. They will not serve you and then tip you gratuity. Everything about this bar sucks. It’s the worst family or party bar to ever exist. Complete riptop please never go here. The food sucks. Drinks sucks. Atmosphere is cold. Tap Room is a sister bar and it is also terrible. Worst bars in hickory!!!

I have been to this restaurant twice now, and I like that they aim for a level of quality and selection above the level of average Hickory dining options. Both visits I had a salad, and the quality of the produce was superior. On the first trip, I ordered a Caesar salad, that had some odd changes made to it, that didn’t really make it a pleasing flavor. Both visits, I tried to like their burgers, and some of their other foods, but really, sometimes, it is better to let quality ingredients(which they do use), stand by themselves. IMHO, they try to do more with the foods, to be above other restaurants, but(again, IMHO) it’s too much. Their ground burger, that includes bacon ground-up in the meat, is novel. The first time the burger was brought out in an undercooked state, and they stated on their menu, and also tried to explain that«it’s due to the color of the bacon» inside the burger. As an experienced cook, I know the difference between undercooked/on the raw side and what a cooked burger looks like. So, okay, this is how they choose to cook and present their burgers. Absolutely fine. If that’s what you’re into. On the second visit, I made a point of asking them to purposely«overcook» my burger, because I really did not want it that red/pink. They were very accommodating, and my burger did arrive in a fully cooked state. It did not have that red/raw appearance, and it had a really good flavor — I ate much more of it, the second time, since it matched my palate for cooked burger meat. I did learn, however, that by consuming that style of burger, it was extremely salty. Again, not my thing, and that’s okay. The French Onion soup was fair. It was lukewarm and cheese-y/gooey and sweeter than average. Meh. My son ordered another novelty. A lasagna sandwich. Yes, it was indeed, lasagna between two pieces of bread. It was not anything special… just novel. So, in summary, the phrase, «…not that there’s anything wrong with that…» best describes Olde Hickory Station, for me. They provide a level of quality and cleanliness and also, variety, and that puts them above many establishments in the area… At the same time, by not providing a second, more plain option for the burger, it doesn’t provide a draw for me to hurry back.

Lunch here is good, but not exactly exemplary in any way. The Olde Hickory Station is yet another restaurant in the renovated Hickory Station. That’s cool — renovating old places adds character. The seating is ample and accommodating, and the location is pretty awesome. It also sells a ton of wine and beer in a separate part of the building, which I like quite a bit. The lunch food was just okay. The lunch menu is limited to burgers, sandwiches, and salads, which is a good set of offerings, but nonetheless feels marginally limiting. I had the Fire & Smoke Burger, which features chipotle aioli and crispy tobbacco onions. It was good, but not exemplary — I think it definitely needed more chipotle heat. The grit cake, a side with the burger, was interesting but basic — the butter added little to the carb-y feel, which I suppose could be awesome depending on what you’re looking for. It could possibly have used some sort of better topping. Service here was spotty but decent. We had to gently prod for faster service despite a relatively empty restaurant. It was a holiday, which tends to mean slower and more casual service, but still. All in all, I’d go back, but not often.

There were 3 of us visiting Hickory for a conference & none of us like eating at chain restaurants so we looked on Unilocal. We were seated easily without having a reservation. It really seemed like a local hangout up at the bar which was a drawback for the prices they charged for the dinner entrees. They already had closed down the dining section of the restaurant so we were seated in a booth in the bar area. We dined on Sunday at 9pm. Our server Courtney was Awesome & She was New! She gave us her favorite recommendations and if she had not tried something, she told us, so for that– we definitely appreciated her honesty :) So hard to find these days!!! We ordered a couple different wines, Wisconsin spicy cheese curds, French onion soup, bourbon bacon jam bruschetta, smoked pickled duck salad, side gorgonzola mashed potatoes, Irish burger, side salad, lasagna and a bacon pecan caramel brownie. We all agreed that everything was Very Very Good, especially the service! They even have a huge wine selection, specialty beers and fresh desserts/baked goods. They also have outdoor seating and plenty of parking. We would definitely return when we visit Hickory again.
