I have a weakness for Carne Asada Fries. Let me rephrase that — I have a weakness for Mexican food. I had heard from several people that the Cali Burrito was superb and a delicious version of your typical Carne Asada Fries. It’s pretty much Carne Asada Fries but in a burrito. So I had to see for myself. I wanted to see what the hype was all about. And let me tell you. This was LEGIT! You have the option of substituting the fries for hash browns, I have yet to try that but I definitely will on my next trip there. The Cali Burrito was definitely Delicious with a capital D! And I literally devoured the thing in one sitting. Yes it’s that good! In my book, this surpasses Muchas Gracias’ Carne Asada Fries. The flavors just blend well together, fries are hot off the fryer and are fresh. But unlike Muchas Gracias, they are not open 24 hours, they close at 12am for seven days a week. So if you’re going out and want a late night grub, be aware that this place closes early. Overall I will be back to satisfy my Carne Asada Fries craving at San Diego Taco.

What’s better than carne asada fries? The portable version! The california burrito is just that: carne asada fries wrapped in a tortilla, prefect for on the go, well not for me b/c I’m a spiller, but for others it is a convenient option. This place took over the old location of Muchas Gracias, which is also a late night favorite for mexican food. They spruced the place up with new paint and some aluminum roofing. I think most people wander in here craving some muchas, don’t leave b/c it’s not what you were expecting, give this a place a chance it wont disappoint.
