Dearest Ajitama, Why did you walk out on me and close your doors 2 years ago??? You didn’t even give me warning. I’m writing because I really, really miss my favorite ramen spot. Nothing else compares to you… not even the ramen restaurants I’ve visited in Japan. Please open another location on Oahu! Pretty please! I miss ordering my Spicy Negi Miso Ramen w/bold broth and firm noodles. I feel as devastated as if I’ve lost a loved one. Nothing can replace my first and only ramen love.

I’m sad that this place closed. I know that there’s a different ramen shop in its place, but it’s not the same…*sniff*

3÷30÷08THISPLACEISCLOSEDASOFATLEAST A COUPLEOFMONTHSAGO. THERE’S ANOTHERRAMENSHOPTHERENOW. — Not many ramen places I’ve been to have beer on tap. MMMmmm, Kirin with my «very spicy» miso ramen. The ramen wasn’t actually VERY spicy, but just spicy enough. I would equate it to a Thai food«mild». I was kind of disappointed with the green onion garnish. I thought«negi» was a special giant Japanese green onion. What I received in my ramen was just regular green onion. I liked that there wasn’t an entire bag of bean sprouts in my ramen, just the perfect amount. Some ramen places seem to forget the meaning of «garnish». Ajitama seems to be all about their egg. It’s kind of got a shoyu, black pepper taste with a soft-boiled yolk. I just tried a little of the white and gave the rest to the fiancé. I must say it was good; saying a lot for someone who doesn’t really like egg. Tried the fiancé’s Kunkuni ramen. Was a little too meaty tasting for me. The fiancé thought it was really good but slightly oily. Well, duh, since it’s a special char siu ramen with garlic oil splashed on. It did taste very good. We shared some gyoza. There were a couple of different kinds offered. We tried the one that said was for«cilantro lovers». They were good, but not my favorite. I liked the very crispy fried portion of the gyoza and that they were unusual. We spent about $ 25 + $ 5 for tip on 2 ramen($ 7.50 — $ 9), 1 set of gyoza($ 3.75), and 1 beer($ 3.75). Definately a place to check out for ramen and gyoza lovers. In the future I’ll probably just stick with the ramen. Cheaper and less calories. Park where you would for Starbucks then walk into Ajitama through the back(and their kitchen!).

I’ve had many ramen places in California that are really good. But this place is quite enlightening and is a heavy hitter for taste. Their rich and tasty broth from the two pictured«favorites», the Ajitama Ramen and Kakuni Ramen, were quite impressive. A little high on salt and awesomely firm ramen. Definitely holds true to what a ramen place should really be. Hard core ramen lovers, this should be your place. 4 stars because they may have missed out on the fried shallot toppings, and the selections are rather limited. Probably good for lunch or a quick dinner. Not sure how long they open until, but I’d vote late night too if they are.
