Went to buy myself a math book for college to study before school starts. Been in Barnes and noble for like 2 mores so I went to the Starbucks café in Barnes and noble. I ordered a iced vanilla latte large small side when I was about to pay with my Starbucks app they told me they don’t take the app:(I was really disappointed cuz I was hoping to get some stars on my app:’(so I paid them in cash instead. That’s the only problem with this Starbucks. They should accept the Starbucks app cuz they are the same company

The dessert and drinks were good but we roamed around with our hands full waiting for a table to free up. Maybe next time we’ll get the table first then order?

I’d love to give this place 5-stars because I truly love this little café… but the insufficient seating forces me to leave 4-stars. This is such an awesome place to sit down with a few books, magazines a laptop or an iPad. They offer coffee, lunch, breakfast and free wifi(sort of, you have to buy something or you will likely be asked to leave). This café’s major downfall is the lack of seating. This place starts filling up right at 9 a.m. when it opens and stays packed into the evening.(I have spent many a long day here) I wish they would expand the café area, but I have a feeling that isn’t in the plan.

Don’t get this place mixed up with Starbucks! This is a Barnes and Noble café that is licensed to sell Starbucks drinks. So you can’t use your Starbucks cards here. But you can use your Barnes and Noble membership card to get 10% off each item in your order! Finding a table here can be tuff, I usually can get a seat within a few minutes. They aren’t usually that crowded around 8 – 9 pm. The other times can be a hit or miss. Also be aware that the workers sometimes go around and ask you to give your table to another person who is waiting. I wish they made this café bigger to accommodate the high demand but I guess we just have to live with what we have.

Very very bad service. I have been spending my week nights at the café for over a year now. The service has always been so so. Tonight was an all time low. The short male worker was very rude. Too bad Borders closed. Looks like I’ll be reading at home and purchasing books from my Amazon kindle e-reader. What a shame… I hope a corporate entity gets to read this post. Definitely in need of some serious changes in workers.

A decent location of B&N Café. The staff are nice and the quality and value of the drinks and food items are similar to other B&N locations. They have a good number of tables at this location and as usual you have access to all of the books and magazines in B&N so it’s a great place to read, work, or study. It is a busy location though so it is often difficult to find a table. However, if you wait to the side you should be able to get one within 5 – 10 minutes. Compared to other coffee shops in the area, one bonus is that you can use your B&N membership card to get a discount — I think 10% — off of your order. In addition, you can pay with your B&N gift cards. One more thing to be aware of is that, similar to other B&N cafes, they do not take Starbucks gift cards nor give stars for your purchases. That’s not to say that’s bad, just something to be aware of before you go.

Because of Starbucks Signs everywhere all over the B&N Café it’s easy to think your in a real Starbucks. But your not! After I ordered and attempted to use my Starbucks app the Cashier tells me that they don’t except the App because it’s a private café. Very confusing. Seating sucks, overall experience wasn’t good.

I do enjoy reading. When I do I like to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle, sometimes when it’s very quiet, and sometimes something in between. For that in between this is where I like to come. Even though it can be difficult to get a table I get lucky most of the time. The barista will time to time go around asking for orders if you are sitting at their tables. If you do not order or do not have an order, they will explain the tables are for their customers. Understood. That helps me get a table to sit. I sometimes get a dessert even though I find them pricey. When I do decide to get one it’s because I feel I deserve it for what ever reason. The delicious sweetness is normally all I need to order something and take a lot to hold back. There is one big, round table there. If there’s not a table available and seats are available I’ve never been turned down to be able to sit. No matter where I sit, I wouldn’t mind if some one wanted to share the other seat. Sometimes when I see someone looking around I’ll go ahead and offer. Why not. Be Aloha yeah. I do love the retro art décor showing some classic authors up above on the panel and some good literature on the walls. It really does add to the ambiance of being a bookstore coffee shop. A good place to read indeed. If you see me there, and you’re looking for a seat, and especially don’t feel like ordering anything for yourself, by all means take the other seat at my table and order me a venti hot chocolate. LoL

I believe this negative experience originated with my impression that this was a starbucks. it is not. after lining up behind the next person in line, the female barista informed us that we were standing in the wrong place and the line goes another way. which would have been fine except two additional people who came after me were waiting there. The barista did nothing to remedy the situation. I wish there was a sign or something. after more waiting I attempted to order 5 waters for my family and a large coffee. turns out they don’t serve water. please keep in mind that at this point I’m still under the impression that this is a starbucks where this would be a typical request. The male barista was confused by my order and the female barista came over and said they weren’t allowed to serve water in those cups. I wasn’t even allowed to purchase the cups. at this point I’m pretty turned off from buying coffee. they then say that there is complimentary water around the corner by the napkins. cool, warm water is better than nothing. I proceed not to purchase anything because of the female barista’s attitude. at the water dispenser I take cups and start pouring water. the manager comes screaming that I’m wasting cups and water and that this was for paying customers only. I tell him of everything I’ve mentioned above. he proceeds to call me a punk with a bad attitude. he then calls security and has me escorted out of the store. at this point i was almost tempted to return the magazine and books we bought. a couple of people that were sitting near where this all happened tried to talk sense into the manager as well with no luck. very poorly managed café. I will not be back.

When someone goes to Starbucks they expect a certain degree of customer service and quality of drinks. Oh but it’s not a Starbucks. Customer service here is very poor. The line takes forever and when you get there they answer questions in a «why are you asking me» attitude. The menu here is extensive than your average Starbucks in terms of food. ie. cakes and pizza. They drinks are lacking though and have only about half the usual drinks. The teas are also very limited. This place carries the Starbucks logo for the coffee. But as a cafè it doesn’t even come close to the standards Starbucks has set

The Starbuck’s logo is posted through out the store and outside but don’t let that confuse you because this is not a Starbuck’s. It’s a Barnes and Noble Café that«proudly serves Starbuck’s» which is fine but you are not able to use any of your Starbucks rewards or gift card here, which is understandable I guess but I feel their system should be compatible since they are selling the products. The main reason I give this location two stars is because of the service and the prices. A large coffee is over $ 5 which is insane. I can make a large latte at home for cheaper than $ 2. I realize the prices are because of the Starbuck’s logo and because we are in Hawaii, but that is no excuse for a $ 6 coffee. The service at this location is horrible. The girl I usually order from is not presented well and usually smacking her gum. I have worked in the food industry for quite a few years and never have I seen a business that allows their employees to be smacking their gum in customers faces. Very unappetizing. Thankfully this location is good about getting your order correct and I have yet to experience a mistake by them. Good location to come to if you are interested in looking at a book while enjoying an expensive coffee or reheated sandwich.

The service here is pitiful. The workers were not friendly or professional. While waiting for my sandwich I watched as they let their sink run for two minutes, overflowing the dish they were washing. They then proceeded to drop my sandwich on the floor. To add insult to injury there’s no place to sit. Tables that should be reserved for paying customers are taken by people that loiter there and the management does nothing to assist with this problem. Homeless people regularly sit here reading for hours on end, stinking up the place. If by chance you are lucky enough to get a seat and want to study/access their wifi, goodluck. Their wifi is so slow I could have raised a family in the time it took me to access my first webpage. 0⁄5 would not go again.

I don’t like Starbucks. I will just put it out there. Sorry! That being said, sometimes, I find myself stuck in the mall waiting after work and I find that this is a safe place to wait for my ride. Since I do not drink Starbucks coffee, I thought I’d try a sandwich. It was about 10pm and I ordered a sandwich. The barista said that they had already turned off the oven for the night. I’ve been a barista for years and I know how annoying it can be when a customer orders something that needs to be heated up when I’m trying to clean up for the night… BUT I DOIT not only because that person deserves to be served if they’re willing to pay me, but simply because it’s my JOB. I would never turn down a customer when I have the ability to serve them. If you’re feeling lazy, that’s not the customer’s problem. I was turned off from the whole thing and left without buying anything. Basic barista test: failed.

I went to this café on my lunch ½ hr. The employees did not greet me on my way in. I was a bit bummed as I waited in line for a good ten minutes. There were only two employees. Then the man at the counter took my order down wrong and when I told him it was wrong he changed the order on the cup but, as I got my order not only was it wrong but they didnt stir the coffee, milk, and sweetener. Overall I’m just frustrated by the complacency on the employee’s part. That’s the worst thing you can do to someone is make their coffee wrong! Shame on you.

Love the dessert/snacks here. Ive had smores(my fave), toffee Blondie bar(2nd fave), canoli(3rd… ok they’re all my fave lol) and some other things that were good but I just can’t remember =\ The prices weren’t cheap but reasonable. I mean the taste and quality of the desserts were great. Things that are best served warm, they’re more than willing to warm them for you. You can eat there or take out. Eating there might be a little hard though and that’s why I took a star off. Theres only a limited amount of seating/tables and most times people decide to read the stores books there so they don’t have to make a purchase. Other than that I guess I just buy things to go and head to the food court with my little ones.

I’m going to respectfully request that Unilocal delete the Starbucks business page located at Barnes & Noble. When you talk to the employees, they will tell you they are not starbucks. They only serve starbucks coffee. The clear difference is food. I only saw one starbucks pastry I recognized. They had a café of pizzas and soups, and featured a lot of cheesecake factory desserts. I wish I knew that before to avoid driving all the way to waikiki for my cheesecake factory fix! Like Gabe mentioned before, the seating here is horrendous. I have never found an empty seat when I arrived before the mall opened. However if you go up the stairs directly in front of the entrance, there are open tables for the Nordstrom Ebar there. This is perfect when you have just finished Lululemon yoga on Sunday and are waiting for the mall to open since it’s the closest coffee shop to the store.

This is a pretty decent place when you want a break from starbucks and happen to be at the mall. This place does get crowded just like all the other coffee shops in the mall on the weekend. They have some nice little drinks that are not offered at every starbucks like some teas. Prices for sandwiches are of course overpriced but I don’t really buy sandwiches at coffee shops so yeah. If all the seats are full try waiting a few minutes people do usually leave frequently. 365 Challenge: #38/365

The only thing that I don’t like about here is how limited and crowded the table and seating area can get. Other than that everything is pretty good. The prices are that of other Starbucks locations. I came down here for lunch one day and got an Avocado Chicken Sandwich. It came with some chips which I didn’t expect so it was awesome to see something that I didn’t expect. But for almost 7 bucks just for a sandwich sliced into two I better be getting something else inside as well. It’s pretty much Starbucks Café instead of Barnes & Noble Café. If you are going to call it Barnes & Noble Café you might as well have everything from the food to the drinks with the Barnes & Noble brand. Overall, it’s a nice place to relax, do some reading, study, etc. The magazines stands are right next to the Café so it’s just complimentary to bust out a read while having a drank. When you enter the bookstore it’s to your immediate right you can’t miss it. There’s free Wi-Fi which is awesome as well. If you want to kill time at the mall, this is definitely a hot spot to be and go to. Unilocal 365 Challenge #331/365

Dear Barnes & Noble Café, You are an a$$hole. The Good: * Coffee is good * Food is overpriced for the amount * Good location * Service is good The Bad: * Limited tables, but has more tables than most coffee shops? * Tables were sticky the days I’ve visited The Weird: * Now this is why I say you are a A-hole. I was already aware of this when I came here, but they do not let non-paying customers sit in their café area on the chairs with tables. Barnes and Nobles doesn’t even let their own customers sit on the ground. WHEREAREWE supposed to actually enjoy reading without purchasing?! Garrr! I get it, whatever, store policy, and people who actually buy food/drinks from the café should be able to get a table and chair. HOWEVER– for the time I was there(2 hours), every 20 minutes a worker had to make rounds… meaning they had to go around to every table without a purchased drink and tell them to get off because the tables and chairs are for paying customers only. But guess what… THEREWASNOONEWAITINGFORTHECHAIRSORTABLES. I get it if someone bought a drink, and they are like. i need a chair, then OK kick someone off. But if there’s no one buying anything and there’s open tables… LETTHEMSIT. SH!T! Ugh.

Food: 4⁄5 Drinks: 3⁄5 Price: 4⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Organization: 4⁄5 Layout: 3⁄5 Atmosphere: 4⁄5 So this review is mainly going to be concern the layout and look of the café. I honestly wish it was bigger and more suited for people to sit down and read. Honestly, one of the reasons I love to go to Barnes & Noble is because it has that traditional bookstore feel. However, not being able to find a table to sit down with friends just doesn’t live up to the feel of a café that I would like to visit time and time again. The atmosphere is decent though I attribute that to how there are so many readers gathered to just get lost in the fabulous world of books and literature! The service is decent, though they do tend to come by quite often to make sure you’ve purchased something from the café. I honestly don’t like to feel pressured into buying something each time I want to sit down to read. Thankfully, if you are a Barnes & Noble cardholder you get a 10% discount which helps save a few pennies here and there. It’s like paying for Starbucks but a bit cheaper. Plus they do pump out the drinks and food pretty fast. The quality of the drinks is the same as well as the price. The only perk is once again, the discount you can get if you sign up for a free membership. The food is a better quality though than Starbucks and I would highly advise sampling their sandwiches and the cheesecake. I honestly wish the layout was bigger to accommodate more tables and chairs! It just doesn’t feel like a café without that and proper lighting to go along with a nice coffee/late/frappuccino while you curl up with a nice magazine or book with friends. Overall though, it is a quaint place to visit whenever I’m in the mall(and that’s often. Haha.).
