While in Honolulu, my lone mission was to eat as much musubi as possible. I liked Musubi Café Iyasume the best because they make them fresh for your order, unlike other shops where they make a ton and leave them out for customers to pick through. Their rice was so on point, and their marinated spam was delicious. I also really loved their rice with seaweed in the sweet tofu wrap(I don’t know what it’s called, but if you like the sweet tofu wrap, definitely get them!). Between me and my husband, we ordered 8 pieces for dinner, but were only able to finish 5. We saved the others as snacks and breakfast later. I was skeptical about leaving it in the fridge, letting it rest, and then having a delicious musubi in the morning, but it still was delicious!

The musubi is out of this world delicious! I came by first thing in the morning as soon as they opened and there was already a line forming. I knocked off a star because the service was just downright rude. I bought a bunch of different musubi combinations and then some rice balls so my family and I could snack on at the beach. You cannot beat these prices!

I wanted to come here so happy that it was a block away from our hotel. My husband and I got there around 8:30am on Monday and there were 4 people ahead of us so short wait. Atmosphere: small little area with lots of signs and pictures all over. A little cramped and overwhelmed but not a big deal. Service: sweet Japanese ladies Food: while waiting I grabbed a bento with fish and fried chicken and some pickles vegetables and rice. We also ordered two spam musubi with egg and avocado. My husband got a can of Coke. Apparently we also get miso soup with our order. No idea how. I saw it and said we didn’t order that but lady said it comes with miso soup. Free soup ok! Everything for just under $ 12. It was ok. So I read the reviews and it seemed like everyone thought $ 2.60 was great value for the spam musubi. I on the other hand was a bit shocked. The spam was fine, the egg was fine, even the avocado was fine. Um… Are we missing half the rice here? It was almost a two bite spam musubi. I’m use to having chicken musubi and then running to my next class at UH. Enough to last me till lunch. It was bigger than this and cheaper. Don’t get me wrong. I think the combination of the food was great. I love my breakfast with some avocado to add the creaminess to my meal. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. However I’m missing the normal size rice ball I’m use to eating in Hawaii. My husband was still hungry so he grabbed a second one as I ate my bento. He didn’t care for the bento with two types of fried chicken. Chicken was ok. It was cold do wasn’t as good. I liked the fish and pickled vegetables. Supposed to be salmon but I don’t think it was. Maybe butterfish? I would’ve grabbed another musubi but didn’t want to waste the bento. That’s my only issue with it. I think I was just shocked the spam musubi was so dainty. My husbands’ complaint is that the spam wasn’t in the center of the rice like I make it at home. For shocking me they only get 4 stars. I would give 4.5 stars if I could.

I love their musubi. There are many kinds of musubi. We got the beacon with avocado, the salmon eggs, the tuna, the spam ones. They just have a good variety to choose from. They accept cash only, and it’s owned by Japanese lady. The musubi was so warm when they just came out, I could help to eatting it. It’s definitely a good spot for local food. It’s easy, convenient and yummy too.

Cheap and quick! My boyfriend and I grabbed these on our way to the airport leaving Hawaii. They are beat eaten when warm. The small shop has many options other than musubi, they have full meals as well. They also have a little shop with seats on the right when you enter. Cute spot, nice worker & lots of cheap snacks and musubi for a quick stop :)

My mom and I recently went to Ross and then to buy some yen. On the way back to the Ross parking structure, we stopped by this musubi stand to get some goods to go. I’ve had this musubi stand on my Bookmarks list for a while, but I probably wouldn’t have come across it if it wasn’t for this venture in Waikiki. It’s so tiny and easy to miss! It would also be hard to find parking around here — it’s close to the hotels, but in a rather inconvenient location. I was just fortunate that we were parked at Ross so we didn’t have to stress about parking. There are a lot of a la carte menu items to choose from, but some of the musubis I wanted to try were not available that day. I guess they have a different assortment every day. But, everything was pretty reasonably priced and I would definitely want to return to this café one day to try some of the other goods. I didn’t know this was such a popular tourist spot … there were tourists taking numerous photos in front of the café and everything. The café itself is really small(pretty much a walk-up), but their products really are delicious and great for grab-and-go meals. Here’s what my mom and I got: «Bacon, Egg and Spam Musubi»: I don’t think I’ve ever had a musubi with bacon in it before, so I couldn’t wait to try this one. And, when you check in on Unilocal,I think you get a slight discount(at least, that’s what the promo was during the time of my visit). I normally don’t like my musubis with too much rice in them, but this version hit the spot. The spam was juicy and the egg, fluffy. Though I would have preferred the bacon to be a bit crispier(not limp and flaccid), it gave the musubi an extra hint of saltiness and flavor, which I really enjoyed. I would order this version again in a heartbeat because it’s so unique. «Seaweed Musubi»: My mom wanted something a little more plain so she got this seaweed version. She said it was great and tasted fresh. She also prefers thinner musubis(not too much rice), but she said the version featured at this quaint café hit the spot. «Bacon, Egg and Spam Musubi with Cheese»: I didn’t see this option during the time of my visit, but I would definitely want to try it if it were available. I readily enjoyed my bacon, egg and spam musubi, but I’m sure it would taste even better with melted cheese. «Fried Chicken with Mayo»: My mom and I didn’t see any chicken musubis available during our visit, but if this version were available, I would have wanted to order it. I’m sure the spicy fried chicken version is tasty as well; I would just ask to see how spicy it is. «Salmon and Seaweed»: I also didn’t see any salmon musubis during the time of my visit(there were a lot of Salmon Roe and Ume versions), but I can’t wait to try the regular, plain salmon option one day. Salmon has to be one of my favorite types of fish, so I’m sure this musubi option is tasty.

If your looking for musubi, this is as good as it gets around here. So many choices on the menu and so flavorful, this place has something special in their musubi because it tastes better… Their bowls and specials are good too so check them out. From the outside it looks like a small market just to grab food to go but if you go inside you could see they have seating.

Being on vacation in paradise need not be expensive. My daily stop of musubi includes tuna, salmon, and fried chicken. With a can of local fruit juices, $ 10 will more than cover lunch. There are prepared obento boxes and made to order musubi, curry, and soup. Very kind service. Have a Musubi Day in Hawaii!

The prices are stupid cheap and the food they sell is so convenient so you’ll probably end up coming here more than once if you visit. The only gripe is, the musubi’s aren’t consistent. The first time we came, our spam was super thin and over fried for each musubi. The flavor was almost nonexistent and the rice was overwhelming. The second time however, we got thicker slabs of spam. To avoid the gamble, go for the salmon roe musubi. That thing is packed with flavor and ALWAYS tastes the same — delciious!

Had delicious, cheap, and simple musubi almost every day I was in Hawaii from this place. You can’t beat their salmon roe ones! Their prepackaged bento boxes are delicious too. Service is very fast, so don’t be afraid if there’s a bit of a line when you go in. (Beware the ume ones if you’re not familiar with the sour taste, it was much heavier than I anticipated) (PS: didn’t like the coffee there though, too acidic. That is my personal opinion though.)

Musubis aren’t bad at all. This is also the only place I know of that has avocado in their musubis, which I am a big fan of. The musubis are on the smaller side with a little too much rice for my liking. And, they’re not the cheapest either.

Hawaiians sure love spam — Musubi, spam sushi Musubi is cooked terriyaki flavored spam served on rice like a sushi. I personally think theres way too much rice to go with the Spam but eating it all is sure filling. They cost $ 2.25+ for each depending on what toppings you choose — can have cheese, egg, bacon, or avocado. I think sticking to the original actually tasted the best, nice and simple.

I usually go with a couple of other people and we are ordering 3 – 5 musubis per person. They are average sized musubis, but they come in a variety of different kinds. For how much people order and how many people come, they are pretty fast at getting orders out. They also have pre-made ones, usually normal/egg musubi, and a few other dishes, so you can just grab those if you don’t want to wait. They have cold drinks and other Iyasume merchandise you can purchase there(tourist gits, musubi making supplies, etc). The store is really small, but the décor is great. They have signatures on the walls of famous people who have stopped by, with this mix of old Hawaii and kawaii Japan feeling. There is a very small sitting area in there too. There’s no parking though and trying to get one of the meters outside is pure luck.

We cancelled our prior dinner reservations our first night in Honolulu, opting instead for a more casual, yet equally tasty dinner — musubis and poke from Musubi Café Iyasume! It’s a little off the beaten path, but worth the trek, for sure. THEHIGHLIGHTS. + So many different, delicious types of musubi(spam, spam/avocado/egg/bacon, spam/cheese, and more!) + Extremely legit ahi poke(that comes with miso soup and rice) — and don’t forget the garlic sauce! + A large assortment of onigiris(the salmon was good, but the amount of filling was a bit sad) — Pretty disappointing chicken karaage; we were given one that had been sitting out for quite some time, and it was a dry mess by the time we had any It’s definitely a good place to pick up some solid snacks to go(or some cute themed merch!).

I came here because of their many reviews. I had high hopes for this place but my experience was not up to my standards. First of all, it’s a tiny hole in the wall type of restaurant that is located at the corner of a hotel. You might miss it at first if you’re not looking closely. The place itself is super small. Very limited tables and limited space. Their spam musubi menu was quite lacking. It was just simple, I was hoping for a more unique menu. I simply only tried one spam, egg, avocado & bacon musubi because nothing else seemed appealing. It was okay I guess, I can definitely make a better spam musubi than this. And overall, this place is nothing special. Cheap prices for quick bites to eat. Small portions.

OMG one of the BEST musubi’s I’ve ever had. My bf and I wanted to grab a quick breakfast before heading out to the beach and luckily our hotel was literally across the street from this café! There literally was a line out the door right when they opened and I could understand why. They have lots of mini prepped meals(bento box style) for people on the go. It looked good, but we just wanted to try the musubi Man I wanted to buy a bunch to take home on the flight, but my fatass would probably eat them all anyway. I got the avocado, egg, and spam musubi. My bf got the bacon & egg musubi both were BOMBBBBBBBBBBB!!. The rice was so soft & warm which makes a HUGE difference. The avocado added a rich creaminess to the musubi with the spam. I loved that they put the perfect amount of sauce drizzled onto the rice. Everything was well balanced and sooo good. This is the best place to stop by and grab some snacks before your hike! I’d say they are reasonably priced for the amount you get and the service is fast. There isn’t much room inside for seating so I wouldn’t come w/a big group or family. The spam here is a lot better quality than the canned spam you get back in CA. It’s not too salty and doesn’t taste like mystery meat. Normally I don’t eat spam ’cause I’m super healthy and watch what I eat, but when on vacay… DIETSDON’T EXIST!

The perfect place to grab a quick meal in the morning and go on with your island adventures! It was my first time having authentic spam musubi in Hawaii and this place definitely set my par high. They deliver your spam musubi warm and the rice is perfectly cooked. I really liked the variations of toppings they offer with your regular spam musubi and their different variations of onigiri. I had their avocado, egg, and bacon spam musubi and salmon n spicy cod roe onigiri for breakfast and they were super filling haha but so good. Who would have though avocado would go well with spam musubi?! Two rice balls are definitely more than enough for breakfast. Definitely THE meal to get before you go hike Diamond Head! Service is a bit slow when it gets busy though!

Spam Musubis on steroids?! Yummm!!! I’ve been wanting to try this place for a couple months now. My family was staying in Waikiki and we decided to check this place out. I saw that there was a check in offer, that was a plus! We got one spam, bacon, egg, & avo musubi for I think $ 0.40 off? It’s usually $ 2.68 each. My mom and I already had our minds set on the spam, bacon, egg & avocado musubi. 4 things in one musubi?! I wasn’t sure how the ordering worked because I had seen pictures of the musubis being out on the counter already and my brother was concerned that the musubis wouldn’t be fresh since we came around 1pm. We were pleasantly surprised when we could order from the menu and get fresh musubis! Yay! We ordered 5 spam, bacon, egg & avo musubis($ 2.68 each), 1 spam & egg musubi(sorry I forget how much this one was), 1 tray of Mochiko chicken($ 4 for around 15+ bite size pieces), 1 mini bento with chicken katsu & salmon($ 4, what a deal!), &1 tuna musubi. Everything was delicious!!! I thought one musubi wouldn’t be enough to fill me up but I only ate maybe 4 pieces of Mochiko chicken with my musubi and I was pretty content! I really loved that the egg was tamago and not just regular egg. It was really sweet and made the musubi 100x better! The avocado is fresh & the bacon added some saltiness. Best spam musubi I’ve ever eaten! The Mochiko chicken was also amazing! It was super flavorful right through and there weren’t any pieces of fried fat! It was Alll chicken! We did pick this one up from the counter so it was a bit oily when we got to the bottom layer. I would definitely wanna try a fresh batch next time. Overall, my whole family enjoyed everything they ordered! We’ll definitely be back!

First time having musubi and it was a pleasant experience. Located in a hotel, it’s quite small but it works I guess. There are some seatings in the there, but it seems like the people that stays there are sitting around reading newspaper. I finally got my order of one musubi, seems like the cashier was disappointed that I got one only. I was hungry, but not that hungry. Anyway, I waited outside and for just one musubi… it took a while. So my friend went to check up on it, and apparently it was done already, but didn’t buzz me come to in. Not sure what happened, but my friend said he got a little attitude from the cashier. I say outside eating and then off to the beach we go. It was nice for a semi-quick bite. They do have a line, but it’s Christmas… gotta have a line. Overall, definitely should try it since it they have quite reviews and varieties of musubi.

Sooooooo freaking good. Our family stopped by Musubi Café 4 out of the 5 days that we were in Waikiki. Thank god it was only a short 5 minute walk from our hotel! Virtually everything on the menu is delicious but I personally loved the plum spam musubi and the salmon seaweed musubi. They look small but they are quite filling and all for a really affordable price! The one thing that I have to highlight is that their rice is SOGOOD. My super Asian family has high praise for their rice and that’s saying something… you know, staple food and all. If you want musubis, you definitely have to stop by! It can be a decent wait especially at peak hours but it’s so worth it. They are all freshly made after you order. Don’t forget to try out their non-musubi items too as those are just as good!

Stopped by twice during my vacation. Once on a Tuesday morning and again on a Thursday afternoon. Both times, I ordered out and it took about 5 – 10 minutes to order and receive my food. The musubi here were so good and very satisfying at all times of the day! I honestly enjoyed each and every musubi I’ve tried here. If you like some sourness and bite to your musubi like I do, go with the pickled or kimchi versions. This place is a must visit if you’re in the Honolulu/Waikiki area!

This place definitely lives up to its hype! An absolute must if you love musubis, and want something fast & cheap to eat. Located inside the Aqua Pacific Hotel, it’s right across from Me’s BBQ(love that place too) and just down the street from Waikiki beach! I come here EVERY single TIME I’m in Honolulu, and will buy 5 – 10 at a time. Depending on the kind of musubi you get, prices can range anywhere between $ 1.75 — $ 2.90/ musubi — Totally a steal in my opinion! These bad boys are fulfilling, and can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; they also make the perfect snack for you to pack in your purse/bag and bring along with you to the beach. They’re neatly and conveniently wrapped in surround wrap, so you don’t have to worry about making a mess! They’re all pretty good in my opinion, but my favorite musubi is the one that has avocado, bacon, egg & spam… MmMMmm. Amongst the musubis, they also serve a variety of rice bowls & miso soup. I’ve tried their curry bowl, which is decent in my opinion, but I’d rather much stick to the musubis! YUMMM!

I’m going to give this place a generous 5 stars. We came here twice during our one week visit! It’s a small little shop with mostly pre made pre packed foods. Couple small tables for seating if you want. Their curry bowl def a 5 star item! It was sooo good! Not a lot of chicken in it. Mostly just potatoes, but the curry itself was delicious! We also picked up musubis, which were good, but I’m not a huge fan of spam normally. They’re wrapped up, so it’s good for to-go or if you wanna save it for later. The bacon avocado eggs one was my favorite, but it’s def huge/messy to eat. The onigiris were just ok. Too much rice and not enough filing for my liking.

So I may have gone a little overboard but I don’t regret it one bit! Honolulu has 4 locations to serve the masses(and hungry tourists like myself) so don’t worry about things running out. Have a big order? Make sure to call head because they’re all made-to-order. I’ve had the spicy cod roe and tuna mayo but they don’t compare against the infamous bacon & egg spam musubi. I bought over 50 to take home on my last visit. No regrets at all! Bacon & Egg Spam — They also have ones with avocado and/or cheese but the bacon & egg spam is still the true winner. There’s something about the combination of bacon and spam that tugs at my heart strings every time. Their bacon is cooked perfectly to match the soft textures of the spam, egg and rice. The saltiness of the spam and bacon balances out with the sweetness of the rice and egg. Since I had such a big order, I was quoted an approximate wait time of 45 minutes but they managed to make them in a mere 20. Fast forward 2 months later and I still have a couple sitting in my freezer waiting to be consumed. I think I’ve had enough to last me until my next visit. Shaka brah!
