We love Peppa’s — once you go to Peppa’s, you will not go to L&L. My husband and I usually get their Kal Bi plate and share — big portion w/4 side veggies. Our daughter is very picky when it comes to bibimbap(she loves the traditional bibimbap in a hot stone bowl). It’s obviously not the same when you get it in a styrofoam container, but she said the one from Peppa’s is good!

Their BBQ chicken is probably one of my favorites! And I really like their loco moco and tofu soup. But on the flip-side, they don’t cut their meat jun into slices. Which I find odd and such a pain to do when you are starving. It’s kind of pricey for Korean take-out, as a mini plate will run you $ 9+, and a regular plate averages at around $ 11⁄12. But the quality of side dishes here is very good and the selection is usually plentiful! They also have brown rice :)

Since I have not been to a peppa’s korean BBQ place in a while, let me tell you that it was a wonderful experience for me because as I recall i previously ate at the peppa’s korean BBQ place in the Manoa Marketplace and i thought it was very good place because of their portion sizes as well as eating at Pearl’s Korean BBQ restaurant, which is about the same but the most interesting part about this place is they have popcorn and nachos, might need to check on it just to confirm that they might have it. And make sure that if you use either a debit or credit cards make sure that you spend a minimum of 5.00 or more so that way it will be easier because some places do charge a small fee, but if you spend over 5.00 then it’s all good. It is a wonderful place to eat and have a good place to eat because if you are hungry this is a good place to try other items. The best one is the BBQ beef with the shoyu potatoes and it’s tasty as well as eating with brown rice so that way the meal will be the best ever. I’m glad to eat at this location and will try the bbq chicken as well as eating with brown rice and seaweed too. Hopefully i will be able to return to this place again because of its service and making sure that the orders are coming out and correctly

I have been coming here for a while now. and it’s sad that I have never written a review about this establishment! For shame Aneisa! Places like this are always iffy. Not every Korean joint will be decent … With that being said, I really love this place. I used to frequent Yummys when I wanted a fast food dealio. But, since this place had been very close to where I used to live a while back, I gave it a shot. Boy. I’m glad I did. It’s true, they are kinda pricey for their food. However, they give large portions out for each plate. So to me, the portion size makes up for the prices. Every time I go there, I ALWAYS get the tofu soup with the 4 choice side of banchan and rice. I am in love with the soup! It’s about the only thing I eat when I am under the weather. I never really ever finish it, so it ends up being two meals for me, which is stellar: D My soup is always piping hot, and always filled with tons of veggies, tofu and shredded beef. Soo good. I’m never disappointed. The other plate I usually get is the Peppa Special … it’s exactly like the Yummy Special. Kalbi, BBQ Chicken and Bulgogi with your 4 choices of banchan, rice, one fried mandoo and a fried zucchini. Argh … So craving that right now! One thing I have to point out is, not a lot of ‘fast food’ korean places make their bancan great. I know everyone has their taste preferences … but, its a deal breaker for me if your banchan sucks. They make decent banchan here … they never skimp out on it, and I appreciate that! :D Thank you Peppa for being consistent in your portions! And a big pat on the back to whomever makes the tofu soup! I’d marry that soup if I could!

I came here twice these past few days. Korean BBQ plates with side dishes. I miss this! It’s still the same. Good food and the sides are large. Thank you for the consistency. It’s good to know that even 2 years later, the food is still as good as it is. :)

I really had to contemplate about writing this review. I totally heart this place and come here often. However, being an Elite Unilocaler, I also feel that I have to be unbiased in my reviews. I came here for dinner tonight after work and ordered two plates. I got the kalbi and bbq chicken combo, and the fried chicken wings plate. I always get the kalbi and chicken mix. That’s a no brainer for me because their kalbi is so good. That plate is huge, as it comes with four sides, and two scoops of rice. I eat the kalbi and the hubby eats the chicken. I haven’t had the fried chicken wings in a while so I decided to get that as well. We get our plates and start eating. I bit into the fried chicken and it tasted sour. I thought that maybe it was just that piece that tasted funny. I bit into another piece and it was definitely sour. I’ve bought their fried chicken before and it was never sour. The chicken was spoiled this time. I went and told the cashier. She was really nice and apologized. She asked if I wanted to sub anything in place of the chicken. I told her that I would take the mandoo instead. I gave her back the fried chicken pieces. Five minutes later, she brought over my 10 pieces of pan fried mandoo. Everything else was great as usual. The four sides that I like to get are the shoyu potatoes, kim chee, choy sum, and either the corn or long rice.

Hands down the best Korean plate lunch place to go to in the makiki area! They really do give you a lot of good food for your money. I highly highly recommend their Kalbi(Korean marinated short ribs) and meat jun(meat fried in an egg batter). Each regular size plate comes with two sides(corn, cabbage, kimchi, long rice, and spinach) and two scoops of either white or brown rice for about $ 11. They even let me substitute rice for a side!(Definitely a WAY better deal!)

This place is hands down my favorite place to get food while in Makiki! Reasonably priced food that’s delicious, relatively healthy, and made to order makes me happy every time. I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Parking can be hard to find when it’s busy but that’s how it with most places. Inside the restaurant, a handful of 4 person tables and a long, wrap-around table can be found. Most of the time I get my food to go, but sometimes I eat in. My favorite thing to get is the BBQ Chicken plate because it’s only $ 11 for a lot of food. It comes with four sides, three large pieces of chicken, and two scoops of rice. If you’re hungry and in Makiki I recommend coming here.

Live nearby, always a regular here because the food is good, huge portions and service is very fast service. I always get the kalbi or meat Jun and or fried mandoo. Though the Mandoo size seems quite small compared to other Korean places but still I love mandoo and I keep ordering it. The kalbi is very good, succulent with the right amount of burn on the meat. I love their variety of sides dishes which includes veggies cabbages, kimchee, potatoes, long rice and even daikon. My fave place to eat nearby for lunch or dinner. :)

I do not come here as often as I used to. There is nothing that stands out about the interior. The tables are beat up a bit and there are only four of them(sitting for 4) and a side counter for others. There is no modern feel to this place. The portions are good size, but not as big as they used to be. The prices have risen a bit with the minimum plate being close to $ 10 up to $ 16. I’m a bit picky so I stick to their fried potato salad as one of my sides. I like to rub my chicken I’m the mayo. Typically I buy the value meal and enjoy the mandoo with their red sauce. Don’t expect a refill on soda unless your willing to pay for it.

Huge plates, great food. I loooove this place and I go here all the time. I usually get the fish jun plate, which comes with 4(!) sides. I usually get seaweed, watercress, Kim chee, and long rice. Portions are massive and the food is delicious. A lot of reviewers have said that they eat it as two meals– I eat it all in one sitting, but that pretty well covers me for the day. There is a nice area to sit, and the girls at the counter are always nice. This is right down the street from me, so I love to come here when I get a craving for Korean food. Some of my Korean friends have said that Peppas isn’t «real Korean food,» to which I respond that I have no idea whether that’s true or not, but I love eating here!

First night in Honolulu and after a decently long hike, we decided to grab a quick dinner from here. Ordered the mini plate chicken with the side order of cucumber kimchi and water crests and I have no complaints as everything was delicious! The mini plate came with 2 large slabs of chicken! Definitely, this meal can be saved for leftovers. I wish I had known about the no rice option to get that extra veggie side dish, but for something less than $ 10, it was spectacular! I would recommend this place to anyone because these side dishes aren’t commonly found in Korean restaurants back in Toronto.

Grew up going to this place. It was awesome then and it is awesome now. Depending on my mood, I get the bbq chicken or the kalbi. Something I get both. I dont know what else to say, but that I always go back when I visit.

Standard Korean fast food place. Has most of the dishes you’d expect from Pearl, Tasty, etc. Prices are standard, and food is okay. Likes: Convenient location for the neighborhood. They also have all the sides I like(mainly the mayo potato salad). Dislikes: Nothing really bad. Prices are a little high, but the regular portions are good(enough for two people to be satisfied). Food can take long, so call ahead if you want to save some time. Favorites: I like the meat jun here. Food is average, but with the convenient location, this is a good place to go to if you live in the area, but not some place you should go out of the way for.

Plate lunches are nothing new around here. If you got a craving, there’s an L&L or some mom and pops plate lunch place that will satisfy that craving. From the outside, peppa’s looks kind of bleak and dreary but there’s a reason this place has such great reviews. Yes, the food here IS expensive. Estimating around $ 10-$ 12 a plate(higher end if you do combo plates). However, the plate lunch is SO big that it’s enough to feed two. Usually I eat half for lunch and the rest for dinner or share with someone. My boyfriend can’t even eat a whole regular plate by himself so I think it’s a good indication that it’s quite a bit of food. I usually get the spicy pork, which costs around $ 11 and comes with four sides. The potato salad thing is amaaaaazing. It’s not healthy at all though so if you’re looking for healthy alternatives, you may want to opt for the veggies, which are all fresh and delicious. I don’t know if it’s something to try if it’s out of the way, nor is it something to write home about. But I think the quality of the food is pretty darn good compared to other greasy places. Great portions, good prices in comparison to the amount of food you get, and conveniently located in the Makiki neighborhood. The parking lot isn’t very large but I’ve never had an issue with parking in all the times I’ve been here… which is a lot.

I have to say I’m a little biased as this is probably one of the only Korean BBQ places I’ve been to(going since high school). The prices are okay 8 – 10 dollars a plate, considering you can share a plate with someone and have plenty of food. My husband and I usually get the fish jun and meat jun combo, but I have also had their bbq chicken and their kalbi. I love their meat jun, a perfect balance between savory and sweet meat. What makes Peppas so good are their sides. My favorites are the sweet shoyu potato, long rice, cucumber kim chee, cabbage, and mayo potato salad. They are the perfect pair to your entrée and I love them so much I would get a plate of just veggies in the future. You can order brown rice instead of white, and can also sub a veggie if you don’t want rice(this is a good deal since each side alone is $ 2+). Our last meal I did this and just added a scoop of rice for a dollar. The soft drinks are a great deal at 1.45 for a 44 oz. Peppas is a half a block from my house so I go at least once a month!

Yesterday, I was feelin’ a little Korean… so I suggested we go eat Korean food for lunch. Of course we needed something quick & fast, as we were a little busy yesterday… my co-worker suggested we go to Peppa’s in the Makiki Shopping Village. I’ve been to this Peppa’s like only once or twice… I use to always go to the Peppa’s that was right next door to the Zippy’s(Makiki Branch), until they had closed. :( Of course, when I do go to a Peppa’s, I always take the value meal… for $ 9.59 you get your choice of meat(I like BBQ Chicken), & two sides, + 4 Mandoo, and a medium size drink. A pretty good deal I tell you! I must say, from one Peppa’s to another… and I’m talking about the Peppa’s in the Manoa Market Place, this Peppa’s in Makiki, or the Peppa’s that had closed down by the Zippy’s…they all the same! You know what you’re gonna get… food is pretty consistent, and they give a lot of it! If you order a regular plate… they give so much food, you can probably feed two or three people! Yesterday, I had ordered the BBQ Chicken… I like how they marinade the BBQ chicken… and to me, it tastes a lot better than Kim Chee III, as they don’t burn the chicken. Parking at the Makiki Shopping Village can be hard at times… there are a lot of other business here, so the customers have to compete for parking, as the parking is limited. If you come here at the wrong time, sometimes the lot is full… so basically you will be out of luck. Going to the Peppa’s(Manoa location) would be better, as they have much more parking… and like I said before… no matter which Peppa’s you go to… they all the same!

I live in the area, so Peppa’s is a very convenient location to pick up lunch/dinner without having to deal with the craziness of town. I might be biased because I love Korean food, ESPECIALLY the sides(I’ve contemplated ordering just a plate of sides on multiple occasions), but I really think Peppa’s has good, quality food at a good price! I think I’ve tried most of their plates, but my favorite is the BBQ chicken — $ 10 — Yummy teriyaki flavor, slightly charred(just the way I like it), moist, juicy, delicious! Most recently, my friend got the«Peppa Special» plate, a combo of BBQ chicken, kalbi, teri beef, mandoo, fried zucchini — $ 12 — For the record, his favorite was the BBQ chicken. :) All of their sides are tasty too, and they give a good amount! They have choi sum, kim chee, long rice, bean sprouts, omelette(like egg foo young), tofu, potatoes, mac salad, seaweed salad, etc. If you like kim chee, make sure to get it! It’s sweet and flavorful, with a kick! Value: The regular plate comes with a TON. I definitely recommend getting the regular size over the mini for just an extra $ 2. You get twice as much meat, and you get 4 choices of sides instead of only 2! I enjoyed my plate for 2.5 meals, and I generally eat A LOT, especially when it’s of something good. Free parking in the Makiki Shopping Village! Or a few stalls on the street.
