Convenient for beer and simple groceries. They only take cash which is not ideal, but there are the only market on the block and there are BOH and FHB ATMs nearby. They are open til 10pm which is nice.

I live about a block away so the Village Market is convenient and in walking distance from my home. I have stopped in a few times but I try to avoid it as much as possible. It is a small store but has the basics(snacks, drinks, and general items). The staff doesn’t seem the most friendly to me. I didn’t experience much interaction with them and I usually just get stared at every time I walk in, no one says hello, or smiles, or asks if I need help. The Village Market is a little pricey also, its just a small community shop so I guess it is understandable but I can just a walk a little farther and go to Safeway to get more of a selection and fair prices. One of my biggest complaints, they only except cash! A lot of people don’t carry around cash so this is an inconvenience. There is an ATM around the corner of the shopping mall, but for those who don’t have an account with the Bank of Hawaii get charged an ATM fee along with the pricey items at the Village Market. To me it isn’t worth all the trouble and money so I stick with Safeway and Walmart.

One block from my house, but overpriced and CASHONLY! Only notice that the place is cash only is about a post-it sized note near the register… please put a notice on the door letting the world know that you guys are committing massive income tax fraud… such a shame cuz its so close… ill go a few extra blocks to safeway.

I always come here if I need a drink or even a snack like skittles or magnum after school. This is a really good place to come to if you need something that you forgot to get from Safeway or Walmart. The prices are a little pricey but not that much.

Unilocal 365 challenge #97/365 this is my story… thursday, august 9th @ approximately 7:30am my prego friend wanted me to purchase some milk for her before i went to work… being the sweetheart that i am, i was willing ;) this store is a block from me so i decided to go here to grab the milk… even though it would cost me a bazillion dollars… i walk up to the sliding door and see that they are closed… aww, sad face… so i begin to call my friend to see if a small milk will do from the coffee shop next door… as i’m calling i see that the sliding door is opening… yay! i look and i also see that the sign has been flipped to «open»… yay again! i proceed to walk towards the door and this old lady with white hair starts screaming at me… no, really… screaming at me! she yells at me to back up… so i move about 3 feet from the door saying, «but your sign is flipped to open???» she is 3 feet from the door in the opposite direction… so we have about 6 feet between us and she starts screaming at me to read a sign that she is holding on an envelope sized paper with ugly scribbling on it… my bad, i have bad eyes, i can’t read it… she yells at me again and asks me, «can’t you read the sign, idiot!» OMG! WTF?! i will never ever go here again… i will tell everyone my horrible experience here… if i was on fire and had to grab water from this store… i would just let myself burn… she is the definition of cranky old people… ugh.

I went into Village Market once to buy some snacks. The store’s items were overpriced and they didn’t accept credit or debit cards. I don’t remember if they had a sign outside saying«cash only,» but I may have been too preoccupied with my chocolate hunt…

Ha, oh Village Market. It works — if you just need to pop in for some drinks or a food item. Nothing special here — a little more expansive than a 7/11, but not quite as expansive as a Foodland. They have some basic groceries, which works if you’re in a pinch. Also, drinks, beer, wine, and a small selection of liquor. Prices aren’t too horrible. They don’t accept debit/credit cards so have cash on hand. There’s an ATM around the corner by the video store.. .
