Uehara Garrett K DDS

A little known gem in the Ala Moana area is the Uehara Family Cosmetic Dentistry. I have been seeing Dr. Garrett Uehara for years and only recently thought about writing a well deserved review.
I had a really bad experience when I was a child with a dentist in downtown Honolulu that for the most part had me living with dental phobia (If there is such a word), and then as fate would have it I found Dr. Garrett. There is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the premier dentists in the State. He’s always on the cutting edge of dental technology and skill, but that is not the reason that I feel I am so blessed to have him as my dentist.
It is his patient engagement; it is the manner is which he and everyone in the office treats me from the moment I walk in. They know me by name, and are always concerned about how I’m doing and wanting to make my visit a pleasurable experience. Every time that I have gone to see him for dental repair or dental issues, I have ALWAYS been treated with warmth, empathy, and genuiness. A rare thing to find in today’s insurance driven healthcare,
For example, recently, I had a front crown made on a chipped tooth that he had custom colored to match my other front teeth that was very cost effective for me, but more importantly, before suggesting the crown, he did everything he could – several times – to use materials that did a great job, but wouldn’t cost the time and money that a crown would. Only when everything else was tried and did not fix my tooth permanently, did he suggest a crown. How does he make his livelihood when he’s so concerned about saving me money? To say the least, on a couple of quick and easy dental jobs where I was in and out, I wasn’t even charged at the very least for the office visit. Go figure!
I work in the health field myself and it is a rare thing that a consumer or patient is not charged at the very least for the office visit. Another plus that has made me a loyal customer is that I have never ever felt that Dr. Garrett thought himself above me because he is a «Doctor,» and I’m not. More importantly, Dr. Garrett always explains everything he is going to do in words and concepts that I can understand – none of that medicalese that you often hear in dental offices… or so I’ve been told by my friends who have other dentists.
In closing, I just want to say, if you need a warm, empathetic, genuine, sincere, and cost effective dentist, Dr. Garret is your man. Now that you know, you’d be a fool not to have a consult with them first, and once you’ve read this review and know the benefits of Dr. Garrett’s office, you cannot unknow. So, if you don’t choose them first, and have a poor experience with some other dentist, it’s on you. Once again, now that you know, you cannot unknow.
