This place is great! Love the tostadas, tamales and sangria Very affordable! The bartender/cashiers are always nice and helpful at least the 4, 5 times I’ve been there.

Wish I would have read about the fish tacos before I came here because I think I got the worst thing on the menu: the wings. Disclaimer: I should have known better. From my experience, Mexican restaurants never have good chicken wings and Baja Grill was no exception. They throw it on the menu but don’t put their heart into it. I came here approximately a year ago with some friends and the food was okay. Not mind-blowing nor exceptional but decent. What they lack in mouth-watering food, they make up in with presentation and service. The staff and waitresses here are on the ball. Heck, as soon as I set down my empty beer glass down, the server came and picked it up. Talk about being quick on the draw! I came here today b/c I wanted to watch the Rockets vs Knicks game and Hay Merchant had the Saints game on almost every television I walked in here and the televisions were on Dancing with the Stars and the news. I laughed to myself because this could only happen in Houston where almost every television at every bar would not be tuned to the local team that’s 11 – 3. We’re so apathetic… Oh well, the bartender Melissa was super nice and found the game for me. She’s super nice and had me laughing about her time as «the muscle» on her high school basketball team. McHale could have used a player like her last summer in the playoffs when the Trailblazers were slicing through the paint like a knife through warm butter :-) The television in front of me keeping blacking out but she found switched it to the other one right beside it. So overall, I give them this: Food:C– Staff: A Atmosphere: B It’s a nice place to have get a bite but wouldn’t crack the top ten of best Mexican restaurants in the area.

I used to love this place but the past few times I have been here, I’ve been ignored at the bar and the service has been awful. I won’t be coming back.

I haven’t been here in a while and now I remember why. I’ll start with the bartender/order taker. He was the only good thing about this experience. Very nice and helpful, told me about specials etc. I also noticed he was helpful to everyone who came in, so kudos to him. The Food — Blech. I ordered fajita nachos. Stale chips was the first thing I bit into and it was downhill from there. Bland, cheese, bland meat, bland guacamole with skin from the avacado. Just uninspired all the way around. I guess if you are drinking you don’t pay to much mind to the bad food. The interior needs a major overhaul. Ripped up material on booths and a general lack of upkeep makes for a dreary atmosphere. Maybe if they overhaul the menu and interior I’ll be back.

Location is nestled nicely in the midst of the Post Oak snobbery. There is a certain«bar fly» that buzzes around this establishment with an indiscernible thick accent who will hit any any lady within ear-shot. I was unlucky enough to have him sour my steaming plate of seafood burrito. I did not know this guy, and of course the employees did nothing to discourage him bothering me– intermittently declared his love for«Jessie» the bartender. His commentary: Sticking his nose over my plate as it sat at the bar: «Ah. you eat this ah? No, no! since you just worked out, not good for you!!» He joked as I wore workout clothes mid Sunday afternoon after walking Memorial park. «You eat it all, eh? didn’t you say to save it for tomorrow? I know you better, eh?» «C’mon. you no fun eh? have wine with me… have wine with me. want a glass of wine? why you keep saying no? You say ‘no’ to everything fun.» «Ahh. did you see my motorcycle parked outside… want to step out and see it?» Eventually, I excused myself to the restroom, and promptly walked as fast as I could to the door. Never going there again.

This location suffers from poor management. I came in around lunchtime. The two make employers working there did not look interested in helping people at the resister. My order came out wrong and the guy behind the counter actually argued with me about it.

Yuck. Food was just below mediocre, no substance, taste or presentation to speak of. Service was less than stellar. All around my family and I had a poor meal. I had a salad that was dry and the veggies were either too ripe or still hard. Repeat times three for the other entrees. Used to love their fish tacos in the other locations. Oh well.

We tried this place to check out the claim of «Best tamale in Houston». I think the statement is bit overstated. We loved the tamale but nothing great, they could be better. Also we had another best«fried fish taco». Again nothing special and I found the taco to be little oily. But we did love«Spinach Enchiladas». It was by far the best enchiladas we had so far! We also had wonderful avacado taco, which was upto the expectation. Finally margaritas we had was also good. Will be back for more! I recommend this place to give a try!

There was a large piece of a plastic bag in our guacamole and they didn’t put all the stuff that comes with the fajita poblano. The music was from a rave/country/Selena era and very loud.

Being a vegetarian, it’s always exciting when I find a place with vegetarian tamales. Since these are«the best tamales in Houston» I was really excited but they let me down. I had the spinach and corn tamales and the bean tamales. The texture and consistency were good but they were kind of bland and the sauce that came with them was watery and nothing special. I’d get them again just to get my tamale fix but I wouldn’t call them the best in Houston. Also beware, they’re bigger than they look on the menu!

This, like all other Berryhill chains, is hit or miss with the food. Cheap fish tacos, tasty white queso, fried stuff, enchiladas and so forth. Sometimes all these are awesome, sometimes all these are terrible. I have yet to figure out the secret code as to when it’s going to be a good Berryhill food day or not. Unlike all the other Berryhill locales though, this place is in Montrose, and you can eat your mexican food listening to club/house music and watch a lazer light show dance floor on the patio. Drinks are strong, chips and salsa are free and service is very friendly and quick.

Last month when my family was in town for the Chevron Houston Marathon we had lunch on the patio at the Berryhill in Montrose on a particularly lovely, warm afternoon. Berryhill is a relatively cheap chain located throughout Houston. I’d had my first experience with Berryhill when I was younger at one out in Kingwood. At first I was incredibly apprehensive of the concept, but after one bite I quickly converted. When you go to Berryhill, first thing’s first: Grab yourself some complimentary chips and salsa from under the heating lamps. I’m going to level with you — They’re not the most amazing combo of chips and salsa I’ve ever had by any stretch. But they’re free. And they’re not bad. So no complaints here! But the Fish Tacos, ay dios mio! I ordered the Pick Two combo with the«Award Winning» Original Fish Taco, the Grilled Taco, and the Charro Beans. The Original(fried) Fish Taco was incredible. It was light, super flavorful, and topped off with fresh, crunchy, purple cabbage. I didn’t think anything could beat it until… The Grilled Taco. The sweet chipotle marinade combined with the savory Dijon sauce sent me through. the. roof. It really is spectacular. This unassuming little taco is a force to be reckoned with. Next time I’m ordering five. I’ve tried many a fish taco at other places, and none have even scratched the surface of coming close to matching the flavorful complexity of those at Berryhill. If you haven’t had a Berryhill Fish Taco, it really should be on your list of things to eat in Houston. My Yankee family members were all very impressed!

Monday Fish Tacos $ 1.99 have recently been calling my name. New bar staff are a major plus! Cheerful, friendly… great addition. Always prefer it when the owner isn’t around. He’s brash and boastful. Oddly enough, sitting at the bar… regulars croon with stories about the owner and breathe a sigh of relief with his absence. Tremendous potential at this location. If staff were praised and appreciated they’d amp up their customer service. They’re good people who deserve respect too.

I’m not impressed nor disappointed with this place. Their margaritas are good and thei $ 20 margarita pitchers great. Their food is average, the ambiance is ok, but it is in a great location and their patio is pretty big. Good place to start and good place to visit on Sundays.

Heather H over serves customers and allows them to use extreme foul language without trying to control the situation. I asked her to call the police when I was being threatened by someone she over served and she refused. Do not go here.

Very good food. I was disappointed though that that location doesn’t take the Groupon. I had one enchilada verde with the black beans and rice and they were pretty good. Wish I got more green sauce on top of the enchilada though. The cashier was friendly. Love the marinated carrots.

We have eaten here a few times and each time it has been the same story — just different dishes. The night started with the guy taking the order. We ordered the tamales ‘plate’ with beans and rice. The waiter only delivered tamales. The food runner was kind enough to return and get the rest of the order. The food was ok, but definitely nothing special or a hood to return. The spicy carrots on the bar were probably the tastiest food there and was free. The good part was the bellini. A few years ago this was one of ‘the hot spots’ for Montrose. Obviously, it has changed. The crowd has started to become a bit questionable, but perhaps it was just an off night. As we left, it was the same old story — not good enough to want to return soon — probably after we have forgotten about this latest experience. It wasn’t bad enough to warn people not to give it a try.

That heavy bass beat you hear and feel as soon as you pass Alabama St headed to Westheimer on Sunday afternoons? That’s this place. Let’s all be thankful it’s only once a week. I have been here twice and once at the Heights location. Most recent visit here was for lunch on Cinco de Mayo with my sisters. I have made a mental note to come here more often on Saturday’s when certain food is half price and the frozen margaritas are $ 4. These puppies are strong. They are also extremely frozen. I get frequent brain freezes while just sipping at a normal pace. For food, I’ve had the tamales and the mushroom quesadilla here and a grilled fish taco at the Heights location. That taco was by far the better item. Large hunks of fish with practically a salad on top. Salsa and hot carrots are good. They’re self-serve. While the heights location is prettier and I enjoyed the service more, there were too many children during my visit. Screaming, little children running around the patio. I had 3 margaritas that night. Parking lots at both locations suck. I don’t plan on reviewing the Heights Berryhill which is why I sort of wrote this as a comparison. Hope I helped!
