Comfort Suites

After a lengthy delay, I received the following message:
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Comfort Suites. I am disappointed your expectations were not met.
While I understand your frustration, I must defer you to the hotel for their response. Choice Hotels’ properties are independently owned and operated, and management at that hotel has established operation policies which their staff must follow to handle your concern.

Over all this hotel is reasonably priced for what you get. The hotel and rooms are kept very clean. The complimentary breakfast pretty good. My complaints would be that the maids start cleaning the rooms extremely early and they make a lot of noise going in and out of the rooms and vacuuming. They make no effort to be quite.
The other concern is that there is never a manager around. Stayed there 10 days and never saw one around. One night the fire alarm went off at 3:30 AM, 5:30 AM, 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM. Initially when the first one went off. We immediately jumped out of bed. We went out into the hallway and saw nothing. Then down to the lobby to find the night clerk bombarded with the phone ringing. She said this happens when theres thunder storms (there was one that night). On the way down we saw an elderly lady in her bathrobe unsure of what was going on. She was confused with no one around to help her. We let her know what we knew. Then on way back up saw her sitting in her car afraid of what to do. Needless to say we didn’t get any sleep that night. The next day we expected something anything from the manager explaining what had happened, possibly an apology. We got nothing. When we asked to speak with the manager, we were told he wasn’t there and wouldn’t be back for 2 days. Leaving only the front desk clerks in charge. I left my name and room number to have him contact us but never heard or saw him around.
This happened one night out of 10 days. We really enjoyed the other 9.

Had been to Houston for some medical appointments a few months back and had stayed in a hotel off Main Street, but had been discontent with the experience so looked at other options for this trip. Stayed here for a couple nights with my mom and had a pleasant experience from beginning (calling to reserve our room) to end (checking out). All staff were friendly and courteous. The décor was a bit dated and the pool is indeed tiny, but there were many positive qualities as well. The hotel was very clean, we heard very little noise from other guests or from outside, water pressure for the shower was good, and the breakfast spread was pretty good. Also, we found travel to and from the hospital easier than when we were staying on Main Street. There are several decent food options within walking distance of the hotel and the hotel has a private parking area. As if that weren’t enough, our room rate (for 2 nights) was ~$ 100 less than the same length of stay in the hotel off Main Street. We would definitely stay here again for future trips to Houston.

It was nice to pull into the hotel parking lot, and find ample parking. After laughing at the comically sized pool, I walked through the front door, to find a lovely wooden staircase, and a bowl of fresh fruits. I was checked in by a friendly associate, and given my key and WiFi code. After grabbing some fruit, I proceeded to my room, up on the third floor. I found both the elevators and staircases to be clean and in good working order. The room itself was quite lovely, and I had no issue with either the AC or the maids. As most business travelers, I tend not to be present in hotels between 7 AM and 6 PM.

VERY SMALL hotel & pool was size of bath tub.
6 small tables for breakfast. wall behind front desk needed to be repainted.
It was clean. maid knocked our door at 8 am to clean it we were asleep.
