Took a friend recently. The menu is very cool. I had the sprouted quinoa stuffed avocado. It was delicious and made me feel so health minded! You stand in line, order and pay at the counter, take a number, then find a seat. Someone will bring your food. There are two patios, one street side, and one on the parking lot side that is more shaded. Definitely worth returning!!!

Visited Dish Society this morning for the first time with my husband. We parked in the adjacent garage which is great. We both ordered the chicken and biscuits and I got a vanilla latte. The coffee was excellent. We both really enjoyed the chicken and biscuits, although there could have been a bit more gravy. For two meals, a latte and a side order of eggs, it was $ 30. The staff was all very nice; we will be returning in the future!

We came for an early sunday breakfast/brunch at 10am. Parking was free in the adjacent parking garage and there were plenty of open tables. We ordered at the counter and got our free fountain drink for checking in on Unilocal. We got the pork belly hash and chicken pesto sandwich, both were pretty good no complaints. But what really impressed me was the service here. The food came out quickly, the servers and the manager checked on us throughout the meal, and i did not get his name but the person who took my order at the counter was awesome, he knew everything about the food and was smiling and super energetic the whole time. What a nice way to wake up on a sunday morning! By the time we left the line was out the door so get here early if you dont want to wait in line

So Dish Society knows a thing or two about pork. Or a whole lot. I was sad to find that the brisket and hash was gone and had a momentary panic when I no longer saw it on the menu… but coffee crusted pork tenderloin with port reduction, kales, and mashed sweet potato? How can I say no to that? It is the best $ 16 I’ve spent on a single dish. Oh my taste buds. They’ve been wowed. It was such a delectable surprise and balance between the sweet of the port and the tart of the cherries against the tenderest of pork medallions — with such beautiful presentation to boot — that I decided I must come here again for my cousin’s birthday. It reminded me of the once-existed-and-enjoyed Bing cherry duck at Masraff’s for literally half the price tag. I’ll be back soon. THANKYOU, CHEF! P. S. Dinner menu starts at 3:30. So if you’re like me and would like to have an early dinner after work… :)

I came here on a Friday for lunch with a co-worker to celebrate the end of the work week. We came around 1 and it was still busting and the line was out the door. Unfortunately they were out of the seasonal veggies so I got brussel sprouts instead but it was still good. We ate outside in the nice weather and it was only slightly ruined by people smoking. Anyways… It’s a nice place. It also has garage parking which is great!

Everyone’s shrimp and grits looked way better than mine and probably was way tastier. They jipped me on a shrimp as well. Tucked it into the grits and left the tail hanging out. Honestly it looked like someone bit into the shrimp and slid it back in the pile of grits. Over hyped to me.

LOVE this place! I came for breakfast and it reminded me of South Congress Café in Austin. Love –location –parking –seating –layout –FOOD –drinks(the juices are so good they needed a separate category) Will come again to try their lunch and dinner menu.

The food was delicious. I wouldn’t recommend the single pancake because the ingredients used make it come out really dry and hard. However, the beignets were the best I have ever had! Even better than the ones in New Orleans at Café du Monde!

One word: Overhyped. I was so excited to check it out for Saturday brunch, but I was disappointed. The interior and set-up was lovely, but the food and service fell short. I had the Brisket ‘n Eggs since it was labeled as a house favorite. The brisket and biscuit were the only likable parts of the dish, but they barely added on the tomatillo relish, so some bites of the brisket were too dry. The smoked gouda grits were absolutely tasteless like I was eating bland mush. The eggs were like rubber and at one point tasted burnt. I also had the OJ mimosa, which was awful that I only took two sips. The champagne tasted like the bottle was left open for too long in the fridge. I’m so glad we didn’t order the carafe. How can you mess up simple eggs and mimosa? I was also disappointed with the customer service. You order at the counter and have the food brought to you, so interaction with the staff is minimal. However, that doesn’t mean customer service should be skimped on. The guy taking my order at the register and the girl who brought our dishes to the table didn’t smile ATALL, barely said a word, and didn’t return any common pleasantries. I wasn’t expecting high-class service obviously, but their attitude plays a big part on how we react to their establishment. The only person that looked like he actually cared to work there was the Asian guy finding empty tables and directing the patrons to them. I wanted to return to try other dishes, but after the robotic service, I’d rather not.

Just met the GM Brad… Super professional and courteous. I thanked him for taking the time out to check on me, my meal, and just convo in general. It’s the little things that really count!

The ambience as soon as you walk in is great. Although it did take a little while for us to get our drinks and not only that but the bartender forgot to add milk into our lattes! What is a latte without milk?! The Mac and cheese is delicious! Fish tacos are amazing! The sriracha aioli sauce is tasty right on top of the taco. Perfect amount of fish to cabbage ratio. Highly recommended!

So, after my last review, the manager of Dish Society(DS) sent me a message about it and offered a gift certificate for me to try them again — I’m stating that as a disclaimer. Onto lunch… They have their winter menu out right now and it’s got some interesting new choices. I decided to get the Apple Pecan Salad, sub the goat cheese for blue and add chicken. The salad comes with a Honey Mustard Seed Vinaigrette. First, the salad was delish — the greens are great and plentiful and the Red Wine soaked apples were almost like beets — very interesting flavor. The pecans also rocked the house(I’ll take a bag of just those to go please lol). HOWEVER — the dressing was tart… like SUPER tart. I had to trade it out for just the honey mustard vinaigrette which one of the DS waiters was so kind enough to bring me. Not saying the honey mustard seed wasn’t good — but just not for THAT dish. I’d think it more appropriate for turkey sandwich perhaps? Anyhoo — the chicken was outta sight again — large portion and cooked perfectly. No complaints at all and my friend LOVED her shrimp and grits. I can say I will now make this my own suggestion to the office ‘crew’ when we step out again(whenever we are unchained from our desks and allowed sunlight). I’m warming up to the idea… DS will definitely see me again in the future — but still no rendition of ‘Footloose’ happening here… LOL!!!

I waited to give this updated review until I had dined at Dish Society a couple more times over the months. I was trying to give them more chances to redeem themselves. Unfortunately the last few experiences were not flukes. On my last visit this last Sunday my husband and I both ordered chicken and biscuits, and one of my friends did as well. Almost immediately after sitting down our food was brought out. When I unwrapped my silverware, one of the pieces had a huge chunk of food on it still. Then when we started to eat, our food was barely warm. We all got the vibe that the C&Bs had been pre-made and were sitting there ready for the next person who would order them. That was disappointing. I almost wanted to ask them to take them back and reheat them, but I didn’t want to have any more hold ups to eat. I ordered a tea, my friend a coffee drink, and my husband got a juice… they all came WAY late into the meal… to the point where we were getting close to being done eating. My husband and I both don’t plan on going back at this point… and my friends that were trying Dish Society for the first time were not impressed at all.

Houston, you’re warming up on me. We found this place and decided it was worth a shot. We got two of our friends to play hooky because we were coming here for lunch. In their defense, I could have told them they had to pay and we were going to McDonald’s and they still would have skipped. Anyhow, I digress. To start, the parking is in a parking garage of sorts, so be prepared. Secondly, you will order at the counter. Now, the order taker was SUPER nice and even more helpful. He gave us a recommendation from each of the parts of the menu and they were spot on. I got the shrimp tacos and he said it was a light meal so he recommended the truffle Mac and cheese. I also got a free fountain drink with my Unilocal check-in. The shrimp tacos were excellent. The shrimp is grilled with some coleslaw and creamy sauce as well as some salsa. Delicious. There is some juice that will leak out the back so be careful. The Mac and cheese was perfect. Seriously, probably the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. The cheese is super rich and creamy. The shells were a little al dente for my taste but that didn’t matter. I made everyone try it. The organic drinks were great. The root beer, the prickly pear, the lemon lime — all good. We sat there for over 2 hours and shot the breeze catching up with old friends and discussing our lives. No one said boo. All I need is three stacks of Dish Society. 3 Bruce stars — worth a special visit.

I imagine this place as the sort of destination people who do yoga/exercise go for brunch after their workouts as a «treat yourself» meal. I stopped trying to count all the people clad in workout gear. Locally sourced, fresh, organic vegetables and meats means healthy, right? Even if it’s a pork belly hash topped with two fried eggs and a creamy avocado hollandaise sauce. Honestly though, Dish Society’s fare presents quality. The price wasn’t terrible – 13 dollars. The pork belly hash looked a little small when it first arrived, but it packed quite a bit of heartiness and I cleaned the plate with no fuss. Little cubes of potatoes tossed with bits of pork belly and spiked with jalapeño, then two fried eggs over medium oozing yolk over the whole mass. The avocado sauce on top added a mild, soothing dimension to the plate and balanced out the jalapeño, and I chased around crispy bits of pork while attempting to slice through the eggs. It was so delicious. I would have preferred more tender pieces of pork belly – some were a little stringy – but overall this was a solid dish. I loved it.

I was recommended to Dish Society by one of my coworkers. A group of four of us dined in on a Sunday morning, around 9:15. There was no line whenever we walked in, however, after we ordered there was a pretty long line. I ordered the brisket n’ eggs and we got a pitcher of the grapefruit mimosas. They give a very generous portion: as I was only able to eat a little more than half of my plate. It was delicious! The homemade biscuit was probably the best I’ve ever had. The mimosas were a table favorite, as we downed them in just a few minutes. The manager was swinging by tables while we were eating breakfast, ensuring all the customers were happy. He gave us 3 complimentary beignets, which were all so excited to try. They did not disappoint! They were very good and it was a really nice gesture. I also recently stopped in for lunch with one of my friends. I ordered the half soup/half sandwich combo. I had the chicken pesto sandwich and tortilla soup which was YUM. Seriously, you could taste all the fresh ingredients in the tortilla soup, it was just perfect. The sandwich was great too! My friend ordered the quinoa stuffed avocado with chicken. At first, the chicken looks kind of plain, but it is deceiving! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The citrus dressing for the salad was amazing too! All in all, Dish Society has great customer service and even better food! I will definitely be back.

I spent a day in Houston and got to catch up with a high school friend here! We came for brunch on a Wednesday(yes to brunch on weekdays), and I really enjoyed my experience. They had garage parking, great food, and amazing service. You order your food and pay at the front. Oh, and you get a free fountain drink when you check in on Unilocal!I ordered a brisket stuffed sweet potato, and the food arrived pretty quickly. The sweet potato was huge! The brisket was very good, but also very heavy. I definitely enjoyed the toasty, cheesy, sweet potato the most though. The service was also another major plus. Multiple, very friendly servers came by to check on us often, and made the entire experience more enjoyable!

Me and a few friends went to Dish Society for brunch today. It was really good! We had a good selection of dishes and I tried a bit of everything. It was all great. I very hesitantly ordered the quinoa stuffed avocado and added shrimp. I love avocado, but I am not a huge fan of quinoa. However, I loooved this dish. It was my favorite out of the four. It was very fresh and Ioved the citrus in it. My sister had the southwest scramble which was a really great scrambled eggs dish that wasn’t too greasy. Another person had the shrimp tacos and they were good, but a little messy. Finally, the last person at our table at the nutella french toast. It was also delicious, but probably too sweet for me to eat the entire plate at one time. I love the inclusion of local foods used. Definitely bought a caphin café sua da — horchata flavored. I love that vietnamese iced coffee. Will definitely be brunching here again.

I came here for dinner on a Friday night and it was a good amount of people. I love restaurants that doesn’t have a long wait and food are priced reasonably. It was easy to get a table for 10 people. Shrimps and grits(4⁄5) — By far the second best grits I ever had. Chicken pasta(5⁄5) –It was so flavorful, rich and so delicious! Pork belly bites(2.5÷5) — It’s something that I wouldn’t order again. White Apple sangria(3⁄5)

Love this place! Fresh and(pretty) healthy eats! For lunch, I love getting their chicken pesto sandwich on a delicious pretzel bun along with a cup of butternut squash bisque. If you’re feeling super hungry, order their pretzel and queso. I have a new found love for smoked gouda! If you’re needing something light, order the quinoa stuffed avocado. I’ll have to come back and review again … there’s so many things on the menu that I’m eager to try!
