I really wanted to get some misinformation and half-truths, but all they had in stock was ignorance. The prices were okay, though.

Is it really that much of a surprise to find a Fox News Channel Store in Houston? Can’t say I didn’t see it coming. To be fair, I’ve noticed one at Dallas Forth Worth Airport as well. After all, nothing screams«welcome to Texas» like a good ol Fox themed airport store. Beyond the TVs with the never ending Fox feed, this is in fact a convenience store. Think Hudson News but with a few bells and whistles in the form of souvenirs. Forget an «I love Texas» shirt, why not a «Fox News» mug? Personally, a bottle of water, some mints, and some reading material will do. Even if it’s at the usual absurd airport price mark up. But service is everything and southern hospitality just isn’t always here. The slow counting my cash was so bad that I asked if it would be easier if I just used a credit card instead(the small line behind me would’ve approved). Unexpectedly, I got a little lip from the lady counting the money which went something along the lines of: «Are you going to miss your flight or something? If you want the right change back maybe you should be a little more patient!» «But that’s exact change,» I noted. When she brought over another colleague to verify a dollar coin I heard the collective moans behind me. After a brief thank you and a receipt, I was on my way. Now off to find an ABC /ESPN store.

They had everything I needed pre-flight, and all airports are overpriced, so I can’t complain. Sad that they didn’t have any ‘don’t mess with texas’ t-shirts, though :(

Walked in to a soundtrack of constant whining in the background. Wanted to pick up a news magazine, but all they had were coloring books. Rock out, tea baggers. Rock out.

Stumbling out of a plane from Los Angeles I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the Fox News Channel store, inside of the airport! I don’t know why I was surprised though, in Texas it’s legal to take a gun almost anywhere. This is crazy town! I was half expecting Sarah Palin to be behind the counter. Unfortunately she wasn’t, and neither was Glenn Beck. While purchasing some gum and a bottled water, the employee behind the counter told me Obama was a sign of the apocalypse. I nodded in agreement, professed my love for Sarah Palin, and asked her where I could find the most current Playboy. Not missing a beat she told me all the adult magazines were on the racks behind me. I didn’t buy it, but I wanted to just for the laugh. I love America!
