What a delightful experience at Ginza! The service was incredible and they made us feel like family. Very welcoming. Food was so yummy too. We’ll definitely be going back!

As a Japanese American individual, I would have to say that most of the items we ordered did not seem to be cooked in a traditional Japanese way. I was really disappointed. It also was way overpriced. It did not taste bad but it just did not meet my craving for authentic Japanese food…

Having tried the classics in this area(near my work), Ginza was the only one I had not given a chance and thought today is a good a day as any— why not. Sat at the sushi bar. Ordered the sashimi lunch and a spider hand roll for good measure. A plus is that they are very fast in food turn around. I went during the peak of lunch and even though the restaurant was full I received my order rather quickly. With that said, I was visibly disappointed when my sashimi plate arrived. Looked like thin, ugly, scrappy, wimpy pieces. I know what 15 bucks and change will get you in terms of sashimi and this was by far the worst and most disappointing plate I’ve had. The spider handroll was big and gorgeous and the softshell crab was definitely a plenty. The taste however was just average. Nothing popped and the overall flavoring was off. OH and another little piece of knowledge— the hand roll and regular size rolls cost the same. In what world would someone think that a spider hand roll would be 9 dollars? I had to order one extra order of salmon sushi to feel satisfied and thus my little lunch ended up being 32 bucks. Suffice to say, I won’t be back — - certainly not for the food and ESPECIALLY for the impossibly small parking lot where you have to fight for a space. In the world where Teppay, Osaka, and Sasaki are just around the corner, you’d be a fool to waste your time and money to go here.

Really expensive sushi for a small joint in Houston. I felt like we were eating Little Tokyo food for Uchi prices. They said don’t go by their Unilocal prices because they didn’t put that on Unilocal so they will charge you more for specialty roll.

Since I work in the Galleria area of Houston, there’s a ton of Japanese/Sushi restaurants to try out around here. Ginza has always been at the top of my list to go and try because of its great ratings on Unilocal.Unfortunately, I was let down when I went to go try it out yesterday with my coworkers during our lunch break. From the moment you walk in, you become bombarded with the managers and all of the workers welcoming you and rushing you towards your table. I understand they’re just trying to provide excellent service, but it came off as pushy and sort of rude… We ordered the Sushi Lunch Plate Special, 1 Spicy Scallop Roll, and 1 Sushi Bento Box. Each lunch item we ordered came with a complimentary miso soup and salad. The miso soup was okay, but the salad was definitely a miss… The lettuce had pieces of ice on it and the dressing on top tasted watery and sour. All of the sushi on my sushi lunch plate special was poorly put together and was falling apart the moment I picked it up. The scallop roll we ordered tasted rubbery and was cut up into uneven pieces and was unnecessarily drowning with tons of green onion garnish on top. The bento box was the most edible item we ordered since most of what came on it was fried. The bean sprout salad that came on the side however, tasted spoiled and sour. Overall, I felt like the food here was not fresh and unappealing. While we were eating, we were interrupted at least 5 – 7 times during our short 45 minutes there by the servers and managers checking to see if we were okay, if we wanted to order more, or if we were done and needed the check. I used to be a server and I do understand that they’re trying to be as attentive as possible, but once again, just like when we entered, I felt rushed and pretty annoyed at this point. I really wanted to like this place because of how close it was to my work and from seeing all of the good ratings and reviews from Unilocal, but unfortunately I don’t think I will be coming back here any time soon.

Great sushi if you’re looking for a neighborhood spot. It’s no Uchi, but it’s Great for a midweek sushi fix! The owners and all the staff are always so kind and gracious.

Best sushi we have found in Houston yet. Loved the fiesta and volcano roll. Very fresh fish and great service! In and out in less than 30 minutes with really reasonable prices! Will definitely be coming back!

My favorite sushi place I have found thus far! I am very picky when it comes to sushi, so I get practically the same thing at every place I go. Here, I chose the Eel and Tuna nigiri. The portions were INSANE. Very rarely do I leave a sushi restaurant feeling full, but I did here. The staff here are so sweet and want to ensure you have everything you need and/or want. After finding this place, I go here way too often.

Love this place. The restaurant is very spacious and was packed when my party and I got in. We had a table in almost 5 minutes though so the wait isn’t that bad. The waitresses are dressed in traditional Japanese dresses: Kimonos. It was pleasant to see. They also brought out hot towels in the beginning of our meal. The menu and food is comparable to Oishii but a bit pricier. Very casual ambiance. Service is wonderful and authentic. I would come again!

We were here many years ago when it was run more like a real Japanese restaurant. The sushi roll is disappointed as the rice is not sushi rice and cooked not right at all. The fried crab did not seem fresh at all. If you have been to Japan and know real authentic Japanese food, then don’t come. If you want to try different food and want to try different atmosphere, then you may come. Teppey is much more authentic and better than this restaurant. I feel the food is Chinese Japanese food(I am Chinese). Although I was disappointed with the food, the service is very good.

Unfortunately, this place has now consistently gotten worse the last few years. This used to be one of our options if we’re looking for sushi in the area, but after our last experience, we just don’t foresee this as a go to place anymore. We tried three different sushi rolls and all three had hard cold rice and was apparent that it was not made by a sushi chef or was not properly taught. The rolls were uneven, poorly put together, and was not appetizing at all. There was even a piece at end where he didn’t cut all the way and was halfway sliced. We didn’t even want to order anymore to eat after getting such poor quality and unappealing sushi the first round. The salmon nigiri was also not fresh and smooth, not to mention their pieces are a bit more expensive than other places. It’s always unfortunate to see places not keep up their standards and reduce down the quality, especially now that Houston has so many other sushi options. I can however say that they still maintain their level of service and friendliness.

Overall excellent, family owned type service but the quality of sushi was only poor to fair. I would say stick with the rolls, dont order the sashimi. Cooked items seem to be their strong point. Tiger Eye Roll: 5 of 5. Warm and crispy, a little spicy kick and rich cream cheese. Best roll I tried. Sashimi plate: 1 of 5. The sushi didn’t taste good, it was somewhat dry so I tihnk it was old and sitting there for a while in the fridge. Gyoza 4 of 5. Nothing new here, just a solid fried Gyoza /Potsticker. They were obviously fried fresh, good flavor. Not crunchy or chewy but soft, warm, and somewhat greasy. Service. 5 of 5. I can’t say enough how nice everyone was. The server and support filled our drinks and checked on us. I think we were greeted as we were leaving at least by 4 employees. Really a nice family feel here.

Classic sushi restaurant near the Galleria. Extensive list of rolls and very fresh fish. I had the Mt Fuji roll and two pieces of yellowtail sashimi. I left very satisfied. Nothing too creative, but good, simple, traditional sushi.

Went back again last week for dinner with a friend. We both had the sushi/sashimi dinner(believe it was called sushi A) for $ 22. The fish was pretty good. We also had a salmon avocado roll which was good. The waitress was a bit pushy and kept asking us if we wanted more drinks, but she was nice. We each had two beers. Overall bill for the two of us was $ 100 including tip. Not cheap for the amount of food we had. But it’s a solid sushi option in the area.

5-stars for service, atmosphere, menu choices, and food taste. Followed the Unilocalsters ratings and comments and I was not disappointed. Even ran into a co-worker who said he eats here at least once a week. Clean, friendly and attentive service. Very comfortable and casual dining. What a great neighborhood gem!

If you want to eat roll only, this place might be good for you. But if you expect authentic Japanese food, they will disappoint you. I went to Ginza after looking at pictures and good reviews. However, this place cannot make Japanese food. We ordered katsudon, unagi don(eel) and Houston roll. First of all, their green tea tastes like hot water and their water was so bitter because of lemons they put in. Katsu don does not have any flavor(だし). I really cannot believe they cannot make this simple Japanese dish. They only give three small pieces of eel on a huge bowl of rice and the eel’s texture is nothing more than a frozen eel that you can buy in Asian grocery. Houston roll was okay(2stars).

Nice little sushi spot. Not overly fancy, but I found the salmon belly, tuna, and yellowtail to be quite fresh and the rice was tasty. Nicely salted hot edamame provided a nice starter, washed down with ice cold Sapporo beer. They have plenty of sushi chefs working, so the service is reasonably speedy. Waitresses are attentive. Prices are affordable — my bill came in about $ 45 for 10 pieces of nigiri, a specialty roll, a Sapporo beer, and a large hot Sake.

I’m sorry, but Ginza is so good. Almost every single time I go here, I see a familiar face. That’s because everyone loves it! Their Hi5 Roll and Ginza Roll are definitely my favorites. If I am away from Houston, the ginza roll is one of those things I crave and must get when I come home.

Came here with a group of 9 to celebrate my friend’s new job last weekend. Parking is ample in the private lot, shared with various businesses. Inside is a bit cramped, but they have cool private rooms where you sit on the floor with your shoes off which is cute. Made a reservation so we were seated immediately. It’s definitely close quarters here and it gets really loud. Ordered the Chirashi bowl, which wasn’t bad. Had a really good assortment of fresh sashimi(tuna, salmon, squid, shrimp etc.) on a decently sized bed of rice. Nothing to complain about, just a decent sushi place, no frills no thrills. Service was prompt.
