This one of the best damn bbq I ever tasted. Quality n flavor is top of the line. So impressed with this place. I eat to much here. But my only compliant is no drive thru n building needs to be imploded. So they can build a better building for the guest.

As far as BBQ goes. Mediocre at best. Disappointed after hearing good things about it. The food just wasn’t that good. Luckily there are several other places around for good BBQ. Never again

Not as good as it used to be. They seem to rush you through the line too. Brisket is OK, but not as good as Rudy’s. Extremely over priced too. Now tonight you almost have to do the valet parking which is another annoyance /cost.

First time in Houston and I gave two places a try that some locals told me about. I dont wanna say its bad, its just not my style of BBQ. I tried the Ribs dinner with the pinto beans and the jambalaya, and some Brisket. Everything i tried out here just has an overwhelming smokey flavor and its just not my style. I prefer a sticky brown sugar based rib with much less smoke flavor. The jambalaya was good and the pinto beans were not really anything special. Not much flavor since their quite watery. Brisket was dry and just covered with sauce.

Truly disappointed. I anticipated some juicy, flavorful Texas BBQ with all the fixings. The atmosphere is perfect and lends itself to a down home experience. And while I love how quickly you can get your food, none of it was very good. Brisket was luke warm and lacked flavor. The chicken was surprisingly better than the brisket, though that’s nog saying much. And the BBQ sauce was not my favorite. Not rich and tangy. The beans were horrendous. And the jalapeño cheese bread was dry. Best part of my plate was the cole slaw.

Atmosphere and food quality were incredible! Come hungry! Great brisket sandwich. Look for the daily special on a small sign where you order… it’s easy to miss. I walked in the door and the delicious aroma let me know I was in the right place. Huge menu on the wall for me to start figuring out what I wanted. I started my way down their cafeteria style line. First off are iced down bottles of beer, next are the trays and silverware. grab a styrofoam cup for a Coke or tea, and stat looking at that delicious meat. I got the beef brisket sandwich topped with slaw. Decent price on the sandwich and the daily special was definitely a good price. Cons — I wish they would have had some smaller portion options. I wasnt very hungry but wanted to try TXBBQ before I left and had to buy twice as much as I was going to eat. Put the special sign on the door or something so I don’t see it after I already have my mind made up what I’m getting. I know this place is small but what about a few TX craft beers on draft?

I’m not from Texas. I don’t know if Dallas does it better. But as a New Englander, this was pretty amazing. Moist beef brisket, sweet and smoky sauce, and an out of this world potato salad. The jalapeño bread was yum. Only thing I didn’t love was the coleslaw. I also enjoyed the hell out of venue – it felt very authentic. Big old tables and photos, cafeteria style service. A great casual spot to eat so so much.

Great barbecue! My favorite dish here is the stuffed baked potato with czech sausage. The other super popular plate is the 2 or 3 meat plate. Top meats for me are czech sausage, brisket, and smoked duck. The jambalaya is my favorite side. The jalapeño bread is a bit on the dry side. This is my favorite bbq place in the area. It is a little pricy tho. The place has plenty of parking and tons of outdoor seating. Indoor seating is rather limited and the bathrooms are around the right side of the building.

Sad to say this is some of the worst barbecue I’ve ever had — though I may be slightly biased from the numerous trips I’ve made to Franklin’s in the past. The beef brisket a la carte plate rings in at $ 13. $ 13 for about a ¼ lb of DRY brisket and a jalapeño cheese roll that the guy behind the counter lovingly drenched in BBQ sauce, smothering any taste it may have originally had. I think I remember getting a brownie that was ok, but that’s about it… extremely disappointing experience. The cashier was nice, but the guys serving the food seemed angry just to be there. Please do not come to this restaurant with any expectations of good food.

I had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant during a recent trip to Houston. The brisket and barbecue ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. The baked beans with apples were very tasty and the soft jalapeño bread was the icing on the cake! I will definitely revisit Goode Co. The next time I am in Texas.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! This is goode eating here… see what I did there. Lunch here on a Thursday with the usual crew. Went a little early around 11:30ish, so no lines yet, but I imagine it can get pretty crowed here. The inside is very small, but there’s an order window outside with outside seating via picnic style tables with much more seating. It was chilly that day so we luckily found a table and sat inside. I ordered the brisket dinner which comes with two sides, and jalapeño cheese bread(YUM). I chose their jambalaya rice, and pinto beans as sides. The brisket was moist, tender, smoky, goodness. This was everything brisket should be. If you have never been here or tried this place, what the hell is wrong with you!!! Get in your car now, and drive here for some of the best barbecue ever.

Came here with a big group and the reviews were so-so. I liked the brisket I got, but the choices of «vegetables» weren’t great.(Not to mention that there were barely any actual vegetables.) Those who got ribs didn’t like them all that much. I would have liked to see cornbread and mac & cheese on the menu, as well. The line moves quickly and the long picnic tables are good for groups.

Goode Co. is as typical as chain BBQ gets. The restaurant has an old country feel to it with animal heads mounted on the walls and old signs posted everywhere. Everything is made of wood and the smell of smoked meat is effervescent. As you walk in to the restaurant, the beverages are on your right, with the trays and utensils. Like most BBQ joints, this chain is cafeteria style. I ordered the two meat plate. Brisket and chicken with cole slaw and potato salad. Each plate comes with one piece bread(I think that you should get a piece of bread for each portion of meat you order). I first tried the two sides, which of course tasted like they were mass produced in some large warehouse. Not a ton of flavor to the slaw or the potato salad. They both received a nice helping of black pepper and salt. Next I tried the chicken. It was OK. A little dry, like it had been sitting in a warmer too long and the meat seemed to just dry up. Then I tried the brisket. The worst brisket i have had yet. Worse than Spring Creek. It was rubbery and tasted like they boiled the meat first(shortcuts in cooking lead to unsatisfied taste buds). The BBQ sauce certainly does help add some much needed flavor, but nothing takes away the chewiness of the meat. Suggestion: if you get the slaw or the potato salad, make a sandwich with the meat and bread. This certainly will add flavor and depth to the very lightly flavored meat(I love the taste of beef with just salt and pepper, but this meat lacks both).

If you don’t believe male prostitution exists, you should see what people are willing to pay for some meat around here. Juiiiicyyyy brisket. Best brisket I’ve had in the US probably. Super crazy heavy on the smoke and juicier than your crazy aunt’s smooches from when you were a kid. This place ain’t cheap though. Goode Company has been a Texas institution since as far back as my little brain can go, and like the mean girls that know they’re hot, these guys know they’re good. A brisket sandwich and a drink(that’s it) will cost you $ 11 + tax. The couple in front of me had two sandwiches, two sides, two rib bones, and two drinks = $ 34.00. …But ugh. It’s so good on that melt-in-your-mouth jalapeño bread. Get some extra sauce on it and sit there up to your elbows in barbecue sauce while eating. I bake a lot and couldn’t stop admiring how clean the cuts on their chocolate cream pie were when in line, so I ended up with a slice in my stomach. Happens. The pie is good, not great. To get the cuts so clean, there’s definitely a LOT of thickening agent for the chocolate, and the crust tastes like it was cut with shortening. Maybe try the pecan. If you come here for lunch, warning! Sitting inside will leave you smelling like smoke. Hah! Finally… payback to all of those coworkers in staff meeting that go for ciggy breaks on the regular!

When in Houston, BBQ is a must. This was a good spot to gather with family for a wonderful reunion. The patio was comfortable with the blowing fans. I was disappointed by the selection of sides – none interested me – so I chose a beef brisket sandwich on jalapeño bread with sauce on top. I’m something of a bread snob since I bake all my own bread, and these slices were of a good, hearty texture that didn’t melt beneath the BBQ sauce and meat, like cheap enriched buns do. I didn’t think the bread had a lot of extra flavor to it from either the cheese or the jalapenos(the latter was fine, since I was originally worried the bread might be too spicy for me!). The brisket was excellent. The sauce didn’t have any noteworthy oomph, but it wasn’t bad, either. Oh, and the pickles were great! I liked that they were like a condiment at the end of the cafeteria line, because I know a lot of folks who hate when pickles are automatically included. So many folks on Unilocal praised the pecan pie, I had to get a slice to share. I daresay, this is probably about the best pecan pie I have ever had. The pecans themselves were very thick and intact – expensive, if I wanted that sort at home – and the crust was perfectly textured and not overbaked. I would certainly eat here again, if I was in the area, but I would eventually like to try and compare other BBQ spots around town, too.

Although not a native Texan, I used to live in Houston for work and I made it a point to try barbecue on a regular basis. I’ve gone to Salt Lick and Rudy’s and many other local joints around the Houston and Kemah area. My friends and I ordered brisket, ribs, sausage, potato salad, and coleslaw. I enjoyed the ribs but found the brisket to be lacking. The brisket was too dry for my liking. Having tried the moist brisket from Rudy’s only a few days before, I was definitely disappointed. I thought maybe it was just me but my friends agreed that the brisket was too dry. We had to douse it in sauce in order to eat it. The ribs were okay, not the best that I’ve ever had but I enjoyed them. My friends were not impressed by them though and offered me their portion. Same goes for the sausage. They were not the best sausages I’ve ever had(I prefer links) but not the worst. The sides were also pretty average, nothing to write home about. Would I come back? Maybe. But I’d rather go to Rudy’s if I have the option.

Had lunch here once on a visit. We live in CA, but my wife was born and raised in rural south central TX. By TX standards, I’d say this place is decent. Put this place in a non-BBQ city/state and it might get 4 stars. I had a 3 meat combo so I could try a variety of things. The ribs were probably the best thing I ate. The brisket was a tad dry and under smoked to me. The duck was a unique option and I like duck, but it did nothing for me. The sides I had were ok, but not fantastic. I believe we went on a Saturday afternoon and it was fairly crowded. The cafeteria line snaked around all the way to the door. We managed to find seating for 7 of us inside, but it is very cramped and there is little to no circulation of air.

Great Texas BBQ in a very casual atmosphere. Limited number of tables inside, but the real seating is rows of picnic tables in a covered area outside, cooled with oscillating fans. No fru-fru tablecloths or fancy tableware. Plastic trays and bottled beer in icy troughs are the norm here. The height of fanciness is the offer of a frosted mug for your Lone Star beer. As a Texas BBQ should be. Of course, the star of any BBQ place is the meat and Goode Company doesn’t disappoint. I had the brisket and spicy pork. Both were fall-apart tender and smoky — just what you’d expect from real pit barbecue. Sauce was flavorful, but no kick. No worries, though … sliced jalapeños were available for self-serve dishing. I had jambalaya and cole slaw as sides. Nothing especially memorable here. A big slice of fluffy Jalapeño bread rounded out the plate for a traditional BBQ meal. And then there was the pecan pie. This was a fantastic, gooey, sticky, southern pecan pie. I’m not sure it was baked in-house, but it sure tasted like it was. A must-have at Goode Company. All total, my tab with a 2-meat BBQ dinner, pecan pie and a Lone Star beer came to about $ 22. Feels like I’ve now been to Texas for real.

I REALLY enjoyed the brisket. Parking was easy, the portions were HUGE and the meat was beyond fantastic. I didn’t think I’d be able to eat all of it, but I most definitely did. Lots of good BBQ places have a really long wait, but this one wasn’t bad at all! Just waited in a line of about ten people, they serve you cafeteria style, and you seat yourself. There’s indoor seating as well as a large, covered outdoor patio with community seating. It’s the kind of place where you eat and leave; I didn’t get the vibe people hang out here to chat and drink much beyond the end of your meal. The baked beans side was very different than I’m used to, and I really liked them. They had extra things in them(potato or yucca?). I also got the rice side and it was only okay. Overall, I LOVED this BBQ joint and will definitely eat there again if I find myself in Houston.

I grew up on delicious Central Texas barbecue, so when a friend from New York visited Houston for the first time, I took her here to try some Texas BBQ. While she thoroughly enjoyed taking a picture with the big mounted buffalo head, she was unable to experience the awesomeness that Texas BBQ can be, because the stuff that this place serves is very disappointing. The meat here is super bland and kind of dry. Barbecued brisket should be able to hold its own in flavor and moistness without the aid of sauce(which was, admittedly, pretty tasty), but the brisket here most definitely could not. The sausage was ok, but it wasn’t anything amazing. The best part of the meal was the jalapeño bread. My friend left this meal not knowing any better, but I was crying inside for the wasted chance to show a born-and-bred New Yorker that there is a world of amazing food outside of NYC.

@@@ As a native Houstonian and longtime patron of Goode Company BBQ, I write this review to urge anybody who reads this review to order the duck! Although it is a bit too much for a lone person to eat, it is easily shared since a ½ duck is accompanied by 2 sides & a slice of their jalapeño bread. Although I could also comment on their other selections, I am no BBQ guru. I enjoy the occasional deviation from the positively divine duck; but the brisket, sausage, ham, turkey and chicken are all fairly standard. I cannot expound on their merits with any conviction since I am a creature of habit. No joke, the duck is sublime! Avoid the major rush by going either earlier or later than usual so you can enjoy an ice cold(root) beer and the ambience of this Houston culinary mainstay since the the 1980’s(?).
