We found this restaurant on Unilocal, and gave it a try after having some beers at Saint Arnold’s brewery. Best decision ever! It was totally packed upon arrival, barely any open tables, good sign! They immediately brought us fresh chips and salsa. The chips were thin, hot, and crispy. There are two salsas. One, is a muy picante red salsa with to-die-for flavors, and the other a more mild and fresh green tomatillo. There are tons of options on the menu, and I’d be willing to be you can’t go wrong. There’s a good variety of authentic mexican options, as well as tex-mex. Everyone in my group slobbered over how delicious their food was. The atmosphere is a total dive, don’t go for any frills. Regardless of being extremely casual, we received top-notch service from every staff member we interacted with. Although I do not live near this restaurant, I will make it a priority to come back!

Best nachos I’ve ever had! Fun, kitschy, cheap, better than any Mexican food place in New England.

I had really high expectations and really wanted to love this place(ok ok, their gorditas) but I was disappointed… Dropped by around noon on a Sunday and yes the place was poppin’! The parking space is minimal but luckily I pulled up as someone was leaving. There were maybe 3 parties waiting to be seated, and the host was really nice and accommodating. I cannot complain about the service, everyone seemed nice and attentive. I ordered gorditas to go. I was told they didn’t do to go orders but I’m sure he was just pulling my leg. He politely took my order and made sure the other parties waiting were seated as soon as possible. I ordered fajita, carne de puerco en salsa(pork) and chicharron gorditas. The best one was the fajita gorditas but I’ve had way better(my brother agreed). I felt like the gorditas lacked flavor and the salsa was weak! I understand not everyone likes hot salsa but hot salsa is a must at a «Mexican» restaurant, or else it’s Tex-Mex. I must give them props for their agua de Horchata, it was delicious!!! I may give it another try, I’ll dine in next time.

I really love this place. I used to come here with my mom and grandmother on weekends. There is always a steady stream of people coming and going which means the tiny parking lot can get crowded. It’s definitely worth it. Authentic gorditas, tacos, tortas, sopes, and huaraches. You know you are eating Mexican food when the cheese they use on dishes is queso fresco and not melted cheese. But if Tex –Mex melty cheese is what you favor, then I’m sure they can accommodate you. They have many other dishes besides the signature gorditas and tacos(which by the way, are made with freshly made tortillas). I have had the chicken flautas and was very happy with my choice.

Authentic Micheladas, recommended by the table next to us. Great service, friendly waitresses. Saw lots of families, overall place feels friendly, bright, open. Enjoyed gorditas de hongos y quesadilla de queso. Always spoiled in Houston to be able to get freshly handmade tortillas and gorditas. Can’t wait to return.

Came here on Sunday around 3. Not impressed salsa needed salt. Waitress didn’t recommend any of the food. She just said it’s good and it depends what you like. I ordered one got gordita to see how I would like it. It was cold. Boyfriend ordered two tacos, needed salt(tongue and fajita). Pros Tea was not watered down. Manager, maybe owner very friendly.

Dad is originally from Aguascalientes, Mexico. He loves this place which is a lot to say for my super picky authentic Mexican foodie dad. The only downside is that there is hardly ever parking spaces available. Good luck with that. ;)

First time here. Authentic Mexican. I love you Mommy but when you’re not here a girl’s got needs! And this place fills them and then some! ! We went to teotihuican just down the road but they only serve breakfast until 12:30. I needed breakfast! So I searched, found this place and called. Breakfast served all day! I had their Mexican sausage with eggs, chili quiles, charro beans, fresh avocado slices, flour tortillas and mango margarita. I died and then came back several times for more. Not overly salted, not greasy, charro beans were perfext, eggs n chorizo meat, perfect, chili quiles, perfect, margarita good, I didn’t taste alcohol, but as I write this I’m getting sleepy and fuzzy. The tortillas were a little thick but hey, mom sometimes made them thick too, add butter! Refried beans, no salt, too blended for me but hey, that’s my opinion. Queso was just that, queso. Cheese and no extras. Add some salt and their green and red sauce and you’re good! Love it, love it. Definitely coming back when mom can’t stop by!!!

Good food and fast service. And as the name suggest their speciality are the gorditas. But they have a wide selection on the menu, all Mexican food it just depends what your in the mood for. But you can’t go wrong trying the gorditas. A must stop if your in the area

I came here last Sunday. 5 stars! Chips And Also Are great. I go the pozole(red)(pork) wow it was so good! Tastes like the way an old Mexican grandma would make it. Seriously some of the best pozole ever. They have live music on Sundays. Very tiny restaurant in the heart of north side. Very cheap. Very good. Will go back for sure!

My family lived in the neighborhood and we used to come in a lot. We loved their food, everything was great. The atmosphere felt authentic and service was average… But the place is disgusting. It’s falling apart and the last time we were there we saw roaches on the wall. We haven’t been back since.

This neighborhood restaurant looks like a real dive, both inside and out, but I can attest to some of the best Tex-Mex breakfast in north side Houston. The tortillas are fresh and the staff is friendly, whether you speak English, Spanish or Tejano. I keep coming back to this place whenever I’m in Houston.

I found this place on a cold rainy sick day. Lets just say their ginormous soups can work miracles. I love coming here for the price, the food and the horchata. We always eat until we’re full up to our eyes and out bill has never been more than $ 20. The staff is very nice, multiple servers always come check on us, and we have always had great service. Also know to cure hangovers!

I really, really wanted to like this place. Heck I don’t know, maybe it taste better if one is drunk and it was 1:30am and nothing else is open. First bad deal was the bland chips and salsa, probably some of the worse chips and salsa I’ve ever tasted. I was kind of suprised that we received chips and salsa at a Mexican not tex-mex restuarant, but whatever. I should have taken that as a sign that it was time to go but I decided to stay and try a Gordita because this was what they are popular for. Yet again, low and behold I received another below par bland product! Ugh and I really wanted to like/love this place, but unfortunately I can not say that I do. The prices were more expensive than I would of liked. If I had a fresh bottle of baby powder I would have used up the entire bottle! Hahaha. The place was very clean and service was fast and nice, so two stars for that. I won’t be back because I can stop at one of the many Mexican restuarants in my area and not have to venture 15 miles for disappointment.
