I had the pleasure of visiting this bar for the first time on a recent Saturday evening. Look, I don’t know if it was the drinks, the company or the fact that I was a super duper minority here (female, straight and tall), but there was an overwhelming amount of hot gay/​bi/​fluid/​etc men here. I wanted to hug and kiss everyone.
Here’s the best part: GORGEOUS men dancing on tables surrounded by people on lounge couches and men on the stage dancing in nothing but a wet towel and showering. Yes, showering on stage. Can you touch them? Well, you can put money in their underwear while they gyrate it all up in your face. Yes please?! We were about to partake in these super sexy festivities, however our group decided they wanted to leave wayyyy soon!!!
What I remember: Ancient bartenders, shots, drinks, tiny underwear, washboard abs, showers, and a packed house. Just do it. You won’t regret it. Gay bars in Houston are so much more fun than Austin!

I have to say, the bar is not what it used to be. Thursday nights used to be a blast, but the show never starts on time, it goes way too late, and the host makes the same jokes every week.
And on the rare occasion that I’ve gone on a Friday or Saturday, most of the dancers are straight and mostly go for the straight women.
Not my thing anymore.

I’ve been coming to meteor for 3 years now and have used the same bartender. Justin is amazing with remembering what you’ve ordered the entire night. His bar tending skills are on FLEEK. I only come to meteor because of him!

If you are having a Bachelorette party, this is the place, a lot of great bodies dancing around, awesome music and drinks with tons of alcohol. If you don’t like the nudity, there’s the other side of the bar, where you can drink, relax and also play pool

I like this place. The staff is nice. The drinks are good. I like that they have an outside patio. Drag night is funny. No complaints

Love this place. Weekends are the best. Intense gogo dancers. Bartenders are nice, drinks are reasonable. Enter in however you want.

Two words: meteor showers… This place is a super chill place to get a few drinks, play pool, and watch the male dancers get down. Definitely do not come to this place expecting a dance club, it is a bar designed pretty well to meet people.

Woukd have given five stars but there was a bad experience even though we had a fun time here for Halloween. The bartender dressed as a Reese ‘s Peanut butter cup was a total A-​hole. We had ordered two Jack and Cokes, doubles, from a different bartender up front but midway they were a bit flat so we went and asked for a little cola on top, totally ready to pay or at least tip and he flat out refused. His position on the situation was that he did not make the drinks so therfore he would not help us to make them more enjoyable. Felt that was an awfully rude position to have after we waited patiently to get served. The bartender working next to him was attentive and quick and the true Rockstar behind that back bar. Just shocked that a bartender would refuse a request, in all my years and travels never really had that happen.

Bartenders to seek out: Mikey and Cody. No one else. This place has its charms. If you are in the mood for dancers, great, this is the place to go. If you want to see them take a shower and see brief nudity than you should probably find jesus. Jesus is a good dancer. (Yuk Yuk) I like drinking and watching people letting their inhibitions go. The only really annoying thing about this place is that there are a lot of groups of girls that steal away the «straight» dancers and that kills it for me. They come in with their bachelorette parties and I’m standing there like…
«oh you can get married? whats that like, asshole?»
but thats just me. Come for the drinks and some of the male dancers.

Meteor is the place to be on Thursdays. They have an amateur drag competition called «So You Think You Can Drag?» that has free cover for 18+. Drinks are cheap, the queens and kings always put on a great show.
Easy parking outside and great for big groups.

This bar is overrated. The manager does not care what goes on in the bar. The bartenders prices change when they feel like it. The Thursday nights they allow under 21 and so you see lots kids in the bar. The music is hit or miss on weekends depending on who the DJ is.

I say this as a straight woman — it’s not for me.
No dancing. Really raunchy male dancers. Quite the weird set up — imagine you’re in a large living room with three coffee tables, and there is a guy dancing in his boxer brief on each them. And everyone is either sitting or standing around and watching with EDM music in background.

Yall.
This place is pure madness. Good madness. Fun madness.
I will not lie to you. I can’t remember the details too clearly, but I will tell you this: This place is definitely a party spot. Bring your friends, guys, girls, whoever.
Great place for big groups and parties. Drinks were fairly cheap, music was great, and the people were pretty awesome too. Go have yourself some fun at Meteor.

My friends and I started the night at Boondocks, but it was kind of dead at first so we somehow made our way to Meteor. Having never heard of it, I didn’t really know what to expect. We seriously could not have come on a better night!
They were having a drag show that night, and it was so good! Haha the host was ruthless and perfect, and the acts were so entertaining. I had a blast! Best part of the night though, was when the host pulled my best friend’s boyfriend onstage and completely ripped him apart. This was a straight man, mind you, and she made sure she had her way with him. Haha She got him to do a little dance in his boxers for a very pleased crowd and sent him through the «Meteor Shower.» Oh god, it was a riot.
If you’re looking for a good time, hit up this place! We went on a Thursday for the drag show and no cover charge! Drinks were fairly priced too. Good time all around (:

Super clean, super chill, and a great place to check out the eye candy! The bartenders pour better here than most of the bars I’ve been to, so you get the alcohol that you pay for. Shower shows every hour, on the hour! There’s never been a cover whenever I’ve gone, either.

We stopped by this place on our tour d’Gay in Houston and I learned soooo much.
Like there’s an app for the iphone called Grindr that lets you find people of a similar persuasion, determine their proximity and then stalk them until you’ve got enough liquid courage to approach.
Like hot bartenders at a gay bar actually stay and chat instead of looking busy because they know we’re not going to hit on them.
Like fraternity brothers can all be in a completely different kind of fraternity (as we’ve always suspected) and have tattoos to prove it.
Like the best way to build out your email list at a gay club is offer tix to Lady Gaga. Wait, that’s not a surprise :)
This place was fabulously freezing, a welcome respite from the Houston swamp-​ass-​inducing heat, the drinks were strong and it was full of really nice men. I dont know that i’m ever going back to a regular ol bar again.

Meteor has the hottest bartenders in town, especially Clay the cutie, and unfotch, I’m definitely never going to get a piece of that. But it’s all good. I can still enjoy the cold, reasonably-​priced drinks, good tunes, and all the eye candy. I think my left eyeball just got a cavity.
I stopped in early on a Saturday night to find a well-​dress, laidback crowd (once again, it was still early), free parking, a friendly door man, no cover … and the place was rather chilly. You know how they’ve gotta blast the A/​C before all the go-​go men start turning up the heat with fierce moves on the dance blocks.
If you’re a fan of South Beach, Meteor has shuttles that run back and forth to make club-​hopping easier and safer.

Nobody told me that at Meteor the pun is on «shower.» As in, they have a large shower at the front of the right-​hand side of the club where go-​go boys (technically, these were go-​go men) dance in their underwear. Sorry, you lost a point with me on that one.
The club is otherwise beautiful. Seriously. The front doors are in the middle and the place is split in half. To the left is large oval shaped bar that is great for the S&M lovers (Stand & Model)… like myself. To the right is what I would describe as a lounge. Lots of white leather couches setup in L-​shapes with a small table in the middle. You can sit down with your friends and have a conversation. The lighting on this side is also a little more dim so you might also be able to get more «intimate» with someone (no, this is not that kind of place… I’m merely suggesting that you could make-​out with someone a little more discretely on this side).
I love that there’s no smoking allowed inside bars in Houston. For the smokers there is a large patio that is enclosed with bamboo growing all around. It’s a pretty nice smoking section (and I’m saying that as a nonsmoker).
Friday night this is definitely the place to be. I had a great time starting my night here and I’ll probably do the same next weekend. The bartenders are all really nice. I wish the drinks were a little stronger. Apparently next time I just need to order a Long Island instead of my usual Ketel and tonic.
